Listened to an interview on radio hullberside today with him, I couldn’t believe what he was saying about being told by mr Cox at the start of this season that there was no chance of a new contract and he should find a new club.
How can you get players motivated with them knowing that they will be leaving the club no matter what they do or perform, think more will come out slowly and maybe Mr Cox was not the nice guy we all thought.

November 13, 2021 at 7:04 pm #217860Our best player to date this season in my opinion so credit to Rory for that.
November 13, 2021 at 7:04 pm #217861In fairness, we had a loan GK who was meant to first choice for the season and got injured after 45 mins. Up to that point Rory had not really shown enough to be deserving of a start in the team.
Thought it was common knowledge that he was told he could find a new club?
November 13, 2021 at 7:08 pm #217863In the end it was Mr Cox who was told to find a new club and Rory stayed. Correct decision all round IMO, well done Rory this season you deserve to be our Ist choice keeper and I hope you get offered a new deal for next season.

Cox did little for those he wanted out.
Rory always had the talent just no managerial support. So good for him.
November 13, 2021 at 10:17 pm #217877Certainly the most improved player, hasn’t made any major errors this season so he deserves his place in the team.
He has always had the ability but used to let himself down with silly errors, just need others to improve their game.3 users thanked author for this post.
November 13, 2021 at 10:51 pm #217880If the loan keeper from Coventry is not coming back, (as not required or still injured), does that mean his wages can be used on another loan signing in January?

November 13, 2021 at 11:53 pm #217881Strange how these things often happen.
Had Bilson not got injured in that first game Watson may never have played for us again.
Fully agree that he’s the most improved player this year (not difficult admittedly) and Richard makes an interesting point re: availability of another loan, not necessarily a keeper.

November 14, 2021 at 12:43 am #217886Yep, if the Coventry lad didn’t get injured in game 1, Rory wouldn’t be with us now.. he was on his way.
He’s finally proven he’s a number 1 GK, fair play to him.

As I understand it under the embargo, we cannot contribute to loan players’ wages. However, maybe our Chairman will clear the debt to the EFL (big maybe), and if not yes you’d think the vacant spot in the 23 players permitted would be available for us to fill?
