    The man’s a disgrace:

No doubt his crank fans will say it’s not anti-Semitism because he is making legitimate criticism of the Israeli government, and there’s nothing wrong with opposing Zionism, like they always do.

At least The Guardian, Telegraph and Times can skirt round his disgraceful views (and not only on Jews, but Ukraine and Russia too) to fawn over his concerts. Ordinarily I would say separate the art from the artist, but this danger merges the two clearly.

Somehow Morrissey has managed to have been defeated in the biggest arsehole in music competition.

Coincidentally, I was listening to Jon Savage speaking at a do the other week. He was less than complimentary about Waters from his recollections of him in the 70s when he decided the rest of the band weren’t necessary anymore 🤣

As a previous Pink Floyd fan I’m no apologist for the wandering mind of Roger Waters.
However, is any government, on this mortal coil, completely above criticism? I think not.

Hopefully no Iron fans start mentioning Pink Floyd on Twitter Iron Age. One poor Twitter user chap who was critical of Mr Hilton recently was being matched to me, you and Siderite by one of those burner accounts purporting to be ‘mates with Dave’. If that doesn’t make much sense, don’t worry, it didn’t to me either. Though the second rate Colombo nature made me laugh.

That BS aside, yours and Siderite’s comments raise a good question about art v the artists sociopolitical Bents and outpourings. I can still listen to and appreciate the output of the Smiths and Floyd despite the stuff Waters and Morrisey come out with. Though it presents questioning and challenges I could do without.

No-one has said otherwise here. His fever pitch nonsense plays into anti-Semitic canards about Jews controlling the world. All too often some say such is just legitimate criticism of Israel.

There is nothing wrong with criticising Israeli government decisions, but the global Israeli conspiracies, desperate comparisons of Israeli actions to the Holocaust etc are not reasoned criticism and come from a hatred of Jews.

Look at the stick George Soros receives from Trump and the political right in the USA, same thing really based on hatred of Jews but dressed up as something different.

The Soros stuff is highly reminiscent of the Rothschild conspiracies.

They say similar things about Catholics, indeed to prevent them being dominant in GB we have the act of settlement, and guess what? It’s still in place.
I object to discrimination and prejudice against any group of people whether Jew, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Atheist, Palestinian or Israeli. Unfortunately to say so you enter into no go areas.

I am no fan of anti-Catholic discrimination either. However, the particular tale of Jews being some fiendish cabal in control of people’s lives is well trodden and has been used to excuse their oppression, by making out the anti-Semite isn’t being anti-Semitic, but opposing some great threat to their people.

I am not directing this at you or accusing you of anything. I just don’t think it’s a good idea to talk about a government being above criticism when this isn’t about criticising a government. Those who assign ridiculous conspiracies to Israel controlling others and such aren’t doing it through legitimate criticism (which is what I was mocking), they do it because they use Israeli as a euphemism for Jews, essentially. They don’t do it about other nations. I am yet to here about fiendish Serbian, Jordanian, Congolese, Peruvian or Vanuatuan conspiracies in controlling others.
