I heard that too, I would say that his opinion is the view held by most of the fans that I know. Passionate phonecall. Enthusiasm, I like that. UTWI

Can’t disagree with any of that. The strategic direction didn’t work and there’s been plenty of time to address it. I can’t bear to watch all this unfold on ifollow. It doesn’t feel like SUFC anymore and hasn’t for years now. Sadly, I don’t see that changing until there’s a change of ownership.

Well said that man, agree with almost everything he said, especially with being frustrated by Swann blaming Covid (which all clubs are in the same position with!). This started in January when we started getting rid of experienced players like Novak and Lund, with Swann already coming out with his groundbreaking “go with youth (i.e. cheap non-league cast-offs)” model.

Rob was superb.I agree with him 100%.Swann is the definition of incompetence.
On the other hand i thought Matt Dean was pathetic. He seemed terrified to let Rob say what he,and a lot more people, think of Swann.

Understand the need for balance but he couldn’t wait to interject the caller; probably anxious about the wrath of Swann.

The guy on the radio summed things up well and did well to keep his cool. COVID has f**k all to do with our current predicament and everything to do with blinkered decisions at a boardroom level.

I thought Dean’s questions of Rob were fair, I thought he could have asked more questions of Swann.

Nah Rob lost it for me when he told him it was is job to sort the pies and the chips out, I really don’t want the chairman to be doing that,I don’t want him to interfere with the footballing side up to a point, but he does need to remind the manager playing negative football could cost them there job even if they do get the results, after that leave it to the manager.

Anybody in the right mind wouldn’t have disagreed with what Rob said. Matt Dean making pathetic excuses for Swann made me laugh.

I understand he works for Humberside who also interviews Swann but he really need to find a backbone. I wasn’t expecting him to rip into Swann but those excuses were terrible.

That’s not adding balance to the argument, that’s just lacking courage on his part.

Well said Rob, you comments are backed by over 90% of the Scunny fans, your views are exactly what we are all thinking and saying. After our record over the past three seasons, and in particular the present one, the club has nose dived from the League One play off location and are now bottom of League Two, and Mr Swann only uses the Corvid and no crowd issues as the reason for winning one game out of 14 matches, including 8 lossws on the bounce. Is he hinting that this is not an issue at every other club????, the reason is that someone has signed players like Turan, Loft and Hippolyte, and the management are thinking that they will come good, there is no bloody chance of that happening!!.

The once proud club is now in a position of being 10 million in debt, have a playing squad with 70% of them not good enough, and a management team that is taking us into non-league football, and week after week nothing changes or gets thr slightest bit better, and after years of taking in Mr Swanns bull shit regarding New Stadium, then a second New Stadium, followed by the refurbishment of GP, and not lets forget the 160 new flats, but the only change down there is the ground name.

I cannot see many supporters turning out to watch the rubbish even if fans were allowed into the grounds, our club has lost ots way big time, and after listening to Mr Swann on Sunday, he seems to think things will get better starting next Saturday, the truth is that we cannot defend even when playing most of the team in defence, we cannot score goals, so how the hell are things going to change. I have given Mr Swann my full support for over six years, but my opinion has vastly changed, what is it “1 WIN, 1 DRAW and 12 DEFEATS INCLUDING 8 ON THE BOUNCE”, yes things should change on Saturday.

The only Rob I know of who has posted on here is Bad Apple, but I don’t think it was him. The caller sounded like a fairly young man.

    An interesting phone-in.

Peter Swann has obviously studied politicians interview techniques, as he is very good at sounding like a caring father figure who is carrying the weight of responsibility on his broad shoulders, without actually answering the questions.

Very convenient to have the pandemic to help deflect the brick bats, but as I said on the other thread, all 24 clubs are in the same boat and this shitshow has been going on since Alexander left.

Cox’s comments were interesting too. Why has it taken thirteen games to give the squad a bollocking? Why have they been allowed to “do what they want” for thirteen games before Cox tells them to “do what he wants”?

If Cordner is not up to it mentally and physically then send him back to Bournemouth. Why should we develop someone else’s player if he can’t be arsed?

It all sounded a bit amateurish to me.

Agreed. Which is why I thought there were some follow-up questions that Matt Dean should have asked of Swann but didn’t.

Mr Swann, you say that it is the Corona that is the cause of us being at the bottom of the league two, do you want reminding that the club problems, and nose dive started three to four years ago, and correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t this terrible virus start 9 months ago, and when we got a handfull of our players with Corona, didn’t the three matches that were scheduled all get postponed???

The problem at present is that we have won one game out of the 13 matches played this season, and have presently lost 8 games on the bounce, and nothing changes to alter the situation.

Our summer recruitment was pathetic, and who ever signed Hippolyte, Lund and Turan should be kicked out of our club, thats if there isn’t some unknown reason this rubbish was brought in, and to play 12 matches without a goalkeeper of league standard was criminal, the lad did his best, but he is clearly not good enough, ND MR SWANNS INTERVIEW WHEN HE STATED THAT COX WAS DOING A FIRST CLASS JOB FOR HIM JUST ABOUT CAPPED THE WEEK OFF.

The only way for Swann to really fix this is to pay off Turan, Loft and Mooney out of his own pocket and stick Hippolyte on a free transfer.

Jarvis I’d stick out on loan somewhere. Vincent and Cordner need their loans ending, whether Swann will have to pay some severance pay to send them back I’m not sure but he really needs to find the money to pay most of them up and have them released, he signed the crap and cluttered up the squad so he should pay to move them on.

While he’s at it he wants to be paying Clarke up as well and move him on. Only problem is, who’s at the club now who will have any clue about play recruitment ?

Swann’s masterplan included sacking off the scouting team. If I was him personally I’d stream line the coaching staff “who we have many of” pay a few off and get a main and an assistant scout in.

    That definitely needs reversing pronto…

I think you’re being a bit harsh on some of these lads WG. Loft scored one absolute blinder and another decent finish so he’s got some ability and Cox has seen much more of Hippolyte than we have. Regarding Turan, don’t forget how long it took KVV before he showed what he could do. No guarantees they’ll make the grade but I think it would be wise to give them a bit longer before we give up.

I agree Cass but would take it a step further.
I have seen something of merit in every player signed.I can understand why they were brought in.
I might go as far as to say that we have not brought in bad players at all but just ones who are desperately in need of the kind of development we are currently unable to offer.
That is not to say that every player is capable of reaching the required standard, of course.
As repeated so many times: messing with systems helps nobody; a defensive mindset is ultimately destructive; playing out of position when lacking experience tends to be detrimental; the experience alongside required to bring players on is largely absent.
We do not have a shed-load of poor players but we do have hordes who are extremely under-cooked.
I am not contradicting myself when saying most of the new signings are less than they ought to be. This may be for the reasons stated or because they lack the necessary personal toughness and grit.
    Time will tell.
