I get that we’re a striker short but this guy surely isn’t the answer!?

“The 32-year-old has had no shortage of suitors in higher divisions, but opted to return to Glanford Park and train with the club a couple of weeks ago”

Are we really supposed to believe that??

We’ll have to wait and see,but I think he will surprise a few fans.

No, very unlikely. Looked decent in the games before he lost interest IMO.

Makes sense as he will be direct back up to Whitehall. If the signing means Elliot isn’t ever played as a lone striker again, I’m all for it. Bennett’s been training for 2 weeks so must have seen something in him.

I wasn’t overly impressed by him when he was last here but he did look good in patches. Hard to judge him though on that as the team around him was so bad. Now he’s here on a perm deal with much better players around him, we may see a better version.

Dean prefers playing with a lone target man so makes sense to sign another of that ilk. Rance is now off the books which is an added bonus.

I think this is a pretty shrewd signing.

Strange signing but we are light up top and need that 3rd striker. He wasn’t as bad as people are making out; seemed to go off the boil when the rest of them did. It was the York game which hasn’t done him any favours.

Couple of goals and all will be forgiven

I did think at Curzon we lacked a bit of an option and if pitches get harder in winter then a battering ram might help. But he wasn’t too impressive at the back end of last season, was he?

Is Carver still out on loan or did he get released?

Out on loan for the season at Southport. Scored the winner in their 1-0 win vs Hereford on the weekend.

None of them were as the team was a mess back then. Another target man in the club isn’t too much of a bad thing. Loads of experience and not past it at 32 yrs old. Relatively risk free signing until the end of the season.

    Good luck Richie !
Should do well at this level. We’ve already got injuries and suspension, and we haven’t even started with bad weather, even worse pitches, fa cup, fa trophy etc.
It is going to need a deep squad to get out of this league, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Carver and the other loan lads back at some stage.

If we get to the stage where getting Carver back becomes necessary then the s*** is already too deep.

    Very true !!
I based it on the fact that after 7 games we are at the stage where signing Bennett has become necessary….

AGREE there cass … i wouldnt mind seeing Barrows coming back from Ilkeston ..hes a versatile player can slot in a few different positions.
Looking forward to see how Connor Smith plays in his full Iron debut at GP.

Unemployment may have helped refocus Richie. With Barrows, he will be benefitting from regular games.

Best wishes to the team and all the staff tonight. Maintaining the momentum means all sections can benefit with revenue increasing.
