The question will surely be whether we need 3 CBs + Young – or can make do on two CBs + Young?
If Taft is in the picture then I reckon we’ll need the larger number.

What we have lacked, for what seems an eternity, has been two useful forwards to: hold up play; be able to play back-to-goal if required; notch the simpler chances. But where can we find two 1 in 4 strikers when we are paying in monkey nuts and with a Blue Riband bar as a win bonus?

I don’t want Feeney in CM – it’s not what he does best.

You would not expect Nuttall to start.

So: we need CBs, real forwards, pace down one flank and from CM. We need a Grant-style general who ain’t kaput and at least one genuine utility player.

We cannot afford to have ANY young loanees, IMHO. It does not work for us.

So many developing young players – we can almost fill the bench But, of course we shall need a GK too.

A fortnight ago, I wrote that we needed 6 – 8 established players and wiggle room for injuries and not fitting in – which always happens.

I am reviewing that and now feel that nine is the very minimum.

    So as it stands…

    In a 4-2-3-1

    B@ll@ck$ to silly ‘formations’ !

It’s the National League – not La Liga !

    Spit & sawdust !

    4-4-2 !

Keep it simple for simple players !

Will struggle to get players again expect the dregs. An experienced goalkeeper a must.also getting a blue ribbon is far too extravagant

Ah, SD101 – you are expecting a lot of Blue Riband bars being purchased coz we’ll be winning so many games?

I wonder if Watson was one of those players who didn’t want to player the last games because he didn’t want to get injured.

Oliver Lobley in for a 1st team start debut, subbed in his debut released 2 days later.

If he had no chance why give the lad a start – that seems cruel to me.

Or if he had a last chance no wonder the lad was nervous. Strange decision either way.

What a heart breaking weekend for the boy.

Who picks up the pieces in his life now?

    OWS:-
“Although four players have been offered professional contracts recently, unfortunately four have had to leave at the end of their two-year scholarship too.
Daws said: “I just want to thank second year scholars Jake Balme, Oliver Lobley, Jamie Moore and Ben Franklin on behalf of myself and the staff for their efforts while with us and wish them all the best going forward.”

It is a shame we had to keep any senior player quite frankly. They are all shite and the reason we are where we thoroughly deserve to be.

I hope non of the retained were the shirkers who disrupted training and wouldn’t play.

They should be named and shamed anyway.

A problem for me is all these youths coming through we are playing have the physique of kids.
Back in the day McCombe,Butler,Stanton ,Williams and so on had the stature and physicality of grown men.
This lot(I know they are kids)but just look like weak little kids in baggy kits with no presence about them.
Have we got rid of the weight bench out of the gym or something?

A lot of physique is to do with growth patterns and how much growing they still have left. If young players are still growing then physical stature will take longer to develop and that includes bench pressing for fun everyday.

Hill comes out and says he needs to change the mentality at the club. I think he needs to change his own mentality regarding players after the way he has treated Oliver Lobley. This was no way to treat a youth player or any player come to that. The lad plays his debut is subbed early in the match and then released. If I were Tony Daws or his parents I would be devastated and fuming as the lad must feel. If this is how he treats players this is another reason why Hill should be gone.

Have you any knowledge of discussions between Lobley and Hill? If so please share, it could be illuminating.
Alternatively, if it’s just your take on the situation it is quite possible that you are very wide of the mark.

I understand Lobley was informed he would be leaving prior to the Bristol game. Still think it was unfair to chuck him in but there you go.

I would have thought players who refused to train or play should give clubs the right to sack them or cancel their contracts if this is all true.

It would if you refused to work or do what you are asked in any other line of work, and I am sure they would find it hard to get another club.

After Mr Hill arrived I looked at the competitiveness of players when trying to win/ keep or challenge for the ball. How many times did certain players looked unfit ? Neither did it improve.

Watching one of the Bristol goals at the weekend 2 of the loanees failed to challenge for the ball and watching some of the previous goals conceded it was not the 1st time.

So poor professionals got paid for little effort and were allowed to do it ! So 100% clearout for me.

I’d never take loanees – they don’t want to be with you.
They feel rejected by their parent club.
They come with the t!t on.
Win, lose or draw – they don’t care.
They have no affinity to the club.
They return to their parent club.
    Money for nowt, for them.
Jog, jog, opps, jog, jog… jog!
