January 25, 2022 at 9:33 pm #230504That’s it then, we look nailed on for relegation. The lads tried tonight, they’re simply just not good enough and were completely outclassed tonight. In fact at times we were a shambles. A lot came down our right, Matheison caught out of position several times, think we need to put Millen or Rowe back there.
No matter what the recruitment is like, I can’t see Keith pulling the great escape off.

January 25, 2022 at 9:41 pm #230510I think there was a decent penalty shout in there too.
January 25, 2022 at 9:46 pm #230511Deffo worth a shout MK, seen softer ones given.
January 25, 2022 at 9:48 pm #230512On a different tack – why does Hippo never take long throws anymore?
I’m sure he’s trainable not to stick his lead foot over the sideline.January 25, 2022 at 9:48 pm #230513Left at 2-0 down and it was one of the worst performances I have seen from any Scunthorpe United teams. You could not pick a man of the match because they were all awful

January 25, 2022 at 9:54 pm #230515On the positive side, Sinclair seemed to make a difference and Burns took his goals well.

January 25, 2022 at 9:55 pm #230516Can’t question their work rate but they’re simply not good enough. We’ve all known this for a long time.
Only Watson, Hippo and Beestin who are league standard players.
Defence – the new right back got skinned time and time again. Manny solid enough I suppose, despite his limitations. Taft a total liability and shot of all confidence. Feel a bit for Mason, why is he not on set pieces?
Midfield totally non existent. Beestin still suffering. What does Perry actually do? No wingers or attacking intent.
Really felt for Burns up front (didn’t see his 2 goals as I’d turned off at that point). Balls launched up to him and chasing scraps. Pleased he got something out the game, hope that gives him a bit of confidence.

January 25, 2022 at 10:01 pm #230519Perry is a long way from match fit.
A poor first game back and another rising to the dizzy heights of mediocrity, tonight.
He’s better than this.1 user thanked author for this post.
January 25, 2022 at 10:09 pm #2305223-2 wildly flattered them – Rovers should have had about 8 – and probably would have had if it hasn’t been for Watson and some wasteful finishing.
Had we equalised late on it would have been a scandal really but it’s a small positive to take from the game I suppose.
There’s no hiding from the fact though that for the first 89 minutes we were absolutely appalling.
We didn’t even play like a national league side – it was worse than that.
There was no tempo, no movement and most of them looked as if they’d struggle to pass wind, let along the ball.
There weren’t many out there tonight who will be playing league football next season – and for good reason – they aren’t good enough by sone distance.
Remind me again – who is in charge of recruitment and which genius hired him?

January 25, 2022 at 10:14 pm #230527We look closer to a 6-0 hiding then we do a victory. Thankfully Bristol fluffed a couple of chances because the self destruct button was ready to be pressed.
They say it’s the hope that kills you, at least this lot are sparing us that.

January 25, 2022 at 10:50 pm #230531It’s just depressing.
They’re so short of the requisite quality all over the park it’s quite frightening as to how someone managed to actually assemble such a poor squad at a professional level.
Sometimes just a couple of signings can turn a struggling side around but I don’t think that’s possible with this lot.
You’d need half a dozen quality acquisitions to even scratch the surface and I think we can safely say that isn’t happening so I agree, we’ll all be spared any last day agony – we’ll be down long before then.

He’s better than this. What about when he was match fit and playing every week?
January 27, 2022 at 4:32 pm #230656He was better then than now.
I’ve said it before – his passing skills are special.
His problem is that, like so many, he’s not capable of raising his game above the levels of those surrounding him.
Playing off a Bish – he’d have the requisite skills to make a big difference.
He needs games to toughen up. (Not whilst we face relegation, though.)1 user thanked author for this post.
January 27, 2022 at 4:41 pm #23065814 matches, 12 starts, 0 goals, 0 assists.
Stats don’t mean everything, especially when he’s playing in such a crap team, but if he does have the requisite skills they have not produced anything so far.
January 27, 2022 at 7:20 pm #230665He was better then than now.
I’ve said it before – his passing skills are special.Perry is simply a luxury player….not what we need right now. Stick Perry in a good, solid side playing well and he’d flourish in an attacking midfield role.
If he was in a side who could accommodate his weaknesses so he could concentrate what he’s good at high up the pitch then yes but he’s too many flaws in his game.
Slack defensively, lightweight and not he’s not the most hardest working. If we were to sign an experienced CB, with Grant and Feeney in midfield he might fair a lot better but we have Sinclair for the attacking midfield role and Hill quite likes him.
I’d keep him around and get rid of Hallam before him and just keep Perry as an attacking midfield. I wouldn’t play him as part of a midfield 3. I thought he looked good in those few games when he played in the hole behind the strikers.
I don’t think he’s much use though apart from that role. Fantastic passer of the ball though and technically very good.
