Is anyone else concerned we’re a month away (maybe more, maybe less) from the summer transfer period (a pivotal one regardless of division as there will be a lot of churn due to ‘legacy’ contracts, more realistic wages and these new July to April deals that were spoken of at the Trust AGM) and we don’t seem to have any football recruitment expert in place?
Also wonder how much they were banking on FC100000 bankrolling.
March 28, 2025 at 12:32 pm #301007Never mind “recruitment experts” I’m a big fan of managers picking the players they want.

How many games outside ours does Butler get to? The game’s moved on.
March 28, 2025 at 1:17 pm #301011In that case Cass we need a new manager.
March 28, 2025 at 1:35 pm #301017Recruitment will be determined by which league we are in next season.
March 28, 2025 at 1:36 pm #301018Why? He’s got us top of the league.
March 28, 2025 at 2:03 pm #301019Recruitment will be determined by which league we are in next season.
Recruitment will be decided by Budget, League competing in and the aspirations of younger players to grab a chance and not just the money.

If he identified the latest loanees maybe he’s improving in that area? Beck’s starting to look like a more handy acquisition as the weeks go by, no?
March 28, 2025 at 3:01 pm #301028But it’s not his players who have got us there Cass bar the odd cameo. And we are talking about recruitment.
Agree Deerey he’s looked handy until he gets into a scoring position, can we afford to carry a forward isn’t scoring enough.

But the ones that weren’t “his” weren’t good enough last season.

March 28, 2025 at 4:26 pm #301043If there had been a bit more sense last Autumn with formations – we’d be looking back now at all of the teams scrambling for 2nd spot – quite possibly the best part of a dozen points behind us.
Still, no use crying over spilt milk.
The penny really seems to have dropped now with AB.
I do not want to change manager.March 28, 2025 at 5:40 pm #301052Not the quickest learner but got to the obvious formation in the end.
To his credit the team are fitter and more resilient than much the same team were under Dean.
Rowley has to count as a success and Carlton and Beck showing signs of getting there.
Fishburn and Brogan have not delivered. Butler claims they were development players but I don’t buy that rationale with a small squad and no reserve or U-21 teams.
Rose and Fadera have both been good signings.
At the end of the day if Butler wins promotion he will have done a fantastic job. Always hard to deliver with the favourites.
If he doesn’t achieve promotion he should probably go. Really hoping he stays to (almost) universal approval.
March 28, 2025 at 5:48 pm #301056No. Keep him if we don’t go up.
Give the lad a chance.
He’ll have a full seasons experience to draw upon next season.
If we aren’t promoted next season – then it could be a different outcome for him.March 28, 2025 at 5:49 pm #301057Big difference this season is a former professional managing a professional team. Don’t think we were fit enough last season – it was a waste of the talent we had.
Still concerned about recruitment going forward though.
March 28, 2025 at 5:50 pm #301059Beck – I ain’t counting that ‘game’ the other night.
He’s scored one goal since he arrived here.
Don’t delude yourselves with the ‘game’ the other night.
I pray he’s a non starter tomorrow.March 28, 2025 at 6:44 pm #301081He’s improved with all that psychological coaching Rene ;)
I’d hope they stick with Butler even without promotion. He’s undeniably improving and I still think changing manager, even at season end, would be detrimental in the long run.
