Let’s see if there’s any interest.
In my opinion (and many others!!) you’ve done an awful job!!!!!!
New stadium???
Championship football team???
Attractive football played???
Fans entertained???
A team to be proud of???You’ll possibly be remembered as the worst chairman/owner in SUFC history!!!!
It’s time for a change… we’ve all had enough.
December 20, 2020 at 11:51 pm #199433Should prise UTI99 out of the woodwork if nothing else!
December 21, 2020 at 12:30 am #199437Share your thoughts NI, are you happy with the current owners your do you agree we need a chance for someone new to sort this crap out??
If you are happy with PS then I’d love to hear your rationale
December 21, 2020 at 1:04 am #199441Apart from the odd few posts, didn’t UTI99 disappear about the same time as Rodders departure?
December 21, 2020 at 7:23 am #199444Swann is the worst chairman we’ve had without doubt. Nothing to do with money his family has plenty and his family have wasted a lot of money on the club. It is to do with the naive and frankly dangerous way he runs the club. Thinking he automatically has the ability to make decisions beyond his skillset because he thinks he knows about football. It was known by most fans that he runs the club this way and now more and more ex players, managers are coming out with comments reinforcing it. He came out in the media and said he had learned lessons – yet still decided which players to buy, employed his son as chief scout and having the manager release a quite ridiculous statement that it was all him – using him as a puppet and basically turning Cox into a pathetic mouthpiece for the club, eroding his standing with the fans. Swann thinks fans cannot see this – it is clear that he tries to push his own agenda for the club by now using old fans favourites at their expense.
We have without doubt seen the worst players and performances in the club’s history under Swann – the number and style of defeats have broken the wrong type of records. Worst start, highest goals conceded, worst league run, lowest number of shots….all stem from Swann and his Retford U10’s management glory days.
Swann genuinely thinks he knows how to run a football club – I don’t think he would be bothered if we went down to non league because he sees nothing going on around him, Emperor’s new clothes stuff…..
December 21, 2020 at 10:53 am #199457A comprehensive analysis, IA. A lot of fans have felt driven away, that’s for sure. How is it possible to keep supporting, week in week out, when players come and go, managers come and go, those who do play don’t seem bothered, performances nose-dive and the club seems not just to lose matches, but also a sense of its own identity.
My lad and I have had more than a few wobbles. There’s a sense that we haven’t left the club, it’s more like the club has left us.December 21, 2020 at 11:38 am #199463There’s a sense that we haven’t left the club, it’s more like the club has left us.
Amen to that.
December 21, 2020 at 11:40 am #199464I couldn`t agree more with your sentiments Sharp Shooter.
Sadly,it would be a very brave or foolish person who would take on The Iron in the state that Swann has reduced it to given the current economic climate within football.
However,we can but hope for a knight in shining white armour to appear on the horizon and rid us of the incompetence that Swann has brought to the club.December 21, 2020 at 12:03 pm #199467There’s a bloke with Fishy connections looking to invest in a football club. Would you like him?
December 21, 2020 at 12:10 pm #199469Share your thoughts NI,
Happy to SS.
But like you, not happy with the way things are and have been since Alexander’s departure. I don’t know PS personally so I won’t slag him or any of his family off, but I can make critical observations.
Swann always talks a good game when he comes on the radio or on an IB podcast. He tells us he cares about the club and the town and is doing all he can to build success. However we are used to politicians speaking to us in a similar manner. “We’ve a world beating track and trace programme in place!” “Brexit will be of benefit to all of us!” PS does often sound like a politician on Question Time.
I won’t repeat the list of promises. They’re there in the OP. But were they promises, or pipe dreams? Swann cannot be criticised for having a vision for the club.
The vision however appeared to put the stadium (new, rebuilt, refurbished or whatever) ahead of the football. To me it was always cart before horse. Surely the emphasis on developing youth should have been one of the first of the new owner’s actions, not one of the latter.
Of course when things are going okay football wise then it’s relatively easy to get fans on board with these visions. A promotion in his first season in charge. Three seasons flirting with the L1 playoffs. Not the heady days of Adkins and the Championship, but not too bad. After all we were still two divisions higher than Grimsby and Lincoln!
However, if you scratched off the veneer then the cheap chipboard beneath was clear to see. The promotion under the record breaking Russ Wilcox was particularly turgid. So much in fact that it didn’t really feel like one. Being in the upper reaches of L1 should have been joyous, yet there was always some mischief going on in the background. Players falling out with management and ownership over contracts or being played out of position. We then stated to hire and fire our managers at the drop of a hat. This despite PS telling us each time that (insert name) was the best man for the job and that he was here for the long term. One day we may learn what happened with Paul Hurst a year ago.
Around the same time news of the much talked about “transfer committee” emerged. There then followed a list of players signed but never featuring in matches, other than the odd cameo appearance. You know their names, Vose, Margetts, Lewis, El Mhanni, Olomola, Dales, Hallam. Now we have the likes of Mooney and Dunwald-Turan to add.
Many of us have questioned whether these signings have anything to do with the manager and coaches. Particularly as recent managers have been appointed after the squad has been put together.
Recently we’ve been told that the club has to cut its wage bill. This is fair enough of course, all clubs are in the same boat. But what do we do? Sign a lot of poor, inexperienced youngsters when surely a smaller number of new additions a mix of youth and experience would have been better. Then to cap it off we hear that the new chief scout is the Chairman’s son!
But to me it’s the whole atmosphere surrounding the club that seems to have died. Players don’t seem bothered whether they win or lose. No urgency, no pride in the shirt.
Change has to start at the top. I don’t know whether a new owner would be the catalyst or whether the Swann family can turn it around. Maybe they have reached the limit of what they can do. Who knows?
These are difficult times, sure enough. Would anyone want to buy a football club in the lower reaches of L2 at the moment?
December 21, 2020 at 12:30 pm #199471Shock, horror, I’ve just agreed 100% with a post from Gurny, lol
Not wanting to keep harping on, but I did warn against Swann very early on, branding him a property developer not a football club chairman.
Cue the usual crowd on here to mock, abuse and belittle.
Cue the usual suspects to weep and gnash their teeth, saying that no-one would want to buy us…just like now, really.
As for Swann the signs were there early:CONSTANT failure to capitalise on revenue streams which would also benefit supporters match day experience.
Ridiculous excuses for NOT doing anything about the above.
Falling out with the council and other developers, resulting in no new stadium.
Failure to make this good.
Constant promises of start dates for the above, which even amateurs knew where wildly optimistic, and little or no remorse or reasons given, or shown when deadlines again aren’t met.
A creeping distancing of the club from supporters, making many of us feel unwanted.
Regarding the above, I’m now entering a fugue state regarding the club I’ve supported for years. I feel that if they don’t care about us, why should we care about them, help them or, …and it’s hard to say this, bother supporting them.
Running the club as his personal toy with cronyism and nepotism not helping anyone.Really, Swanny, if you do read this, it’s time to go.
You’ve tried and been found wanting in everything.
Thanks for trying, but it’s a fail.Bye now. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
😉December 21, 2020 at 2:13 pm #199479Worst chairman no Ironawe, David Wraith nearly bankrupted the club. Then Graham Pearson who pulled down a proper football ground and put us in field in the middle of nowhere with a shite ground. Out of the club’s history 3 out of the 6 positive sequences have been under Swann, the only chairman to offer subsidized travel to away matches Charlton and Chelsea, and free transport to Plymouth, also guarantees to run a bus to all our away matches no matter what the numbers, pleases most fans appointing a lot of ex scunny as managers, bloody good chap imo,is the football crap at the moment yes of course it is but I’ve been round long enough to know sooner or later it will get better with or without Swann.
December 21, 2020 at 5:18 pm #199491Forgotten almost making the OLD first division, have we?
Sorry, your sycophancy not acceptable, please try later.

I never thought I would agree with your good self but as you say disappearing up his own anus
December 21, 2020 at 7:11 pm #199497Of course Alcy Swanny nearly got us in the old first division twice, sorry for missing that out.
December 23, 2020 at 8:33 pm #199589Excellent post from northumbiron. Couldn’t of put it better myself. This opinion is shared by myself and everyone I normally attend games with.
Also we have questioned for a while whether he has connections to agents who are influencing signing these poor players. Something that has recently been mentioned on here. Some bizarre signings this season even if the intentions are to lower the wage bill.
December 24, 2020 at 10:17 am #199597Of course Alcy Swanny nearly got us in the old first division twice, sorry for missing that out.
Actually, no.
During his tenure we have failed miserably in the playoffs to get into the old SECOND division.December 24, 2020 at 11:54 am #199600Sorry Alcy, indeed it was the old second division, I did think we were talking about the Pearson era, but even then I got my divisions mixed up. Bet you were just as annoyed with the chairman then for selling Barrie Thomas, have you been back since?.
December 24, 2020 at 8:24 pm #199638Lol.
Been back loads, but not recently, and hardly at all since Swann and the odious Rodwell banged the prices up for over 60’s, and then couldn’t even be bothered to respond to letters about it…Swann even told lies about it.Made me feel really valued….not.
December 26, 2020 at 1:18 pm #199675So basically you’re upset because they ignored you. Child.
December 26, 2020 at 5:52 pm #199720So basically you’re upset because they ignored you. Child.
Says the girl who has jumped on here to get his own back.
Back to skyving at the council matey😆Of COURSE that’s by the only reason I’ve a down on Swann.
After all, what else has the guy done wrong?
😅😄😅😄😅😄December 26, 2020 at 10:55 pm #199733Could be worse. I very seldom listen to Radio H*mberside, but earlier today I heard ‘Bob from Grimsby’ having a mega-rant about Fenty, or prat as he called him! Class entertainment. 😋🤬
December 26, 2020 at 11:03 pm #199734No Alcy. We all know the problems brought about by the club’s owner. We both know what really upset you. Not being listened to. Like a personal vendetta against the man.
December 27, 2020 at 9:53 am #199745Not being listened to?
You mean like when I warned YEARS AGO that Swann was going to do this club a disservice? That the new stadium was madness and pie in the sky? That he was a property developer not a football club chairman? And that his alleged meddling would cost us dear? Not seen (m)any apologies from the mockers and abusers either.
And there’s STILL folk support him. How daft can you get?
December 27, 2020 at 10:59 am #199747I have come to the realisation that when it comes to Scunthorpe United Swann talks a good game, but fails to deliver on his promises.
We can all remember those grand promises when he took the helm…the new ground, entertaining football, playing in the Championship…yet here we are, still playing in a dated ground, with the worst squad in memory, struggling to get points on the board, and in real danger of getting relegated out of the football league.
The issue is, in the current economic climate who in the right mind would buy the club right now? Sure we have planning permission to develop the ground, but it would take years to get any kind of ROI. I’m afraid we’re stuck with Swann et. al. until he either gets bored, or runs out of money, or I win the euro millions.
I’m not sure how he runs his entertainment empire, but one thing has become very evident throughout his tenure as chairman, he has failed to deliver on his promises in a somewhat spectacular way!
December 27, 2020 at 11:09 am #199748Casinos are places of entertainment where punters come through the doors high on the expectation of leaving with more than they arrived with, but are ultimately disappointed and end up leaving with nothing.
Very much like football.

When I said this, when I said that. Listen, you weren’t the only one banging that drum so stop trying to make out you were some sort of prophet or visionary. I think someone said a long time ago you were enjoying all this demise. Starting to believe them. Just stating the bleeding obvious over and over again.
December 27, 2020 at 11:30 am #199753Daz,
The financial results for Swanns holding company Cool Silk Ltd. might go some way to answering both your question and the Iron
s decision to curtail spending.
In the year to June 2018 the company lost just over £8million and just over £14 million in the year to June 2019.
I would be surprised if the results for the year to June 2020 give much cause for celebration.December 27, 2020 at 3:56 pm #199776SUFC results will be included in those figures, any profits other companies in the Cool Silk group made are subject to paying less tax. All perfectly legal of course…

Still mardy because I took the p*ss?😆
Look back.
Find ONE other who saw through Swann and his bullshoot even at the same time as me. Let alone before.
Then look back and find the many many rude, mocking and downright abusive posts from those who disagreed.
Including your good self.🙄Now….take a deep breath, be a MAN, admit you and others were WRONG, apologise and we’ll go forward.
Continually having a go at those who know better plays right into Swann’s wingtips.
