Pugh – good he is back, obviously Hill wasn’t a fan. I always was, v happy he has returned.
Lavery – once a good player I doubt he will play too much and will be used for cover
Carver – I hope he goes and scores some goals, gets fitter and pushes Nuttall a starting berth, haven’t given up on him just yet
September 22, 2022 at 7:14 pm #245325Presume Lavery will get the same time as Carver has but you never know he may kick on and surprise the lot of us so welcome to him. Also welcome back Tom Pugh, let’s hope he has put last season’s injury woes behind him and is fit and raring to go. Best of luck guys, hit the ground running.
September 22, 2022 at 7:20 pm #245327Complete joke of a transfer policy. Pugh was below average for most of last year, perhaps no worse than anyone else and harsh to be released but the lack of interest in him proves the point.
No centre back/left back despite crying out for competition in these positions.
And we wonder why we’re shite

He’s a good player and will do well for us.Lavery will do well at this level.
A good bit of business.

Pugh will be much more depth. And he can play full back too
September 22, 2022 at 7:39 pm #245330How much more depth we need in centre mid? 11 centre mids including a couple out on loan. We stockpile players for no apparent reason.

September 22, 2022 at 7:43 pm #245331Well it wouldn’t be much fun on here if we all felt the same way. Can’t see any reason why Pugh has returned unless he’s a favourite of Daws and very cheap, not good enough. We have Butterfield, Beestin, Whitehouse, Feeney, Fletcher and Gallimore (we might even have Hallam a few times) so when is he going to play?
Lavery for Carver is a good swap.1 user thanked author for this post.
September 22, 2022 at 7:52 pm #245332This is what happens when you give your manager a whole transfer window then sack him after half a dozen games!
September 22, 2022 at 7:58 pm #245333We always seem to need about 11 Midfielders. Back to when the likes of Richard Hinds and Ian Morris couldn’t get in the first team.
Seem to be dipping ever further into the Mortgage money, though.
September 22, 2022 at 8:23 pm #245334Lavery is not yet 30.
September 22, 2022 at 9:45 pm #245335Pugh will be much more depth. And he can play full back too
No he can’t. If he’s been signed as midfield depth fine it’s not the most pressing need by a long way but he can do a job there. If he’s playing RB he should’ve stayed at Scarborough where he would still be some way off good enough.

September 22, 2022 at 11:45 pm #245340For a minute I thought we’d re-signed Jim Lavery as backup keeper!

September 23, 2022 at 5:33 am #245341Didn’t he work as a vehicle mechanic in Ashby?
September 23, 2022 at 9:31 am #245346Not sure les but he sure had spanners for fingers, dear old Jim, never the best was he.
September 23, 2022 at 10:49 am #245353Re: Caolan Lavery. 246 appearances, 47 goals. Roughly a goal every five games.
Not great. Let’s hope he’s too good for the National League!
September 23, 2022 at 10:54 am #245354Steve Drake and Brian Arblaster – those years were pretty awful for us with GKs.

Indeed Simon at Walsal fan TV rates Lavery and reckons will be a good addition for Scunny at our current level.

He’s another spear in our quiver.
Scores on debut today?
UTI.
September 24, 2022 at 10:15 am #245430Still waiting for a new CB.
That one addition would probably make the difference we all need.
What happens when Taft or Boyce get injured, BTW?1 user thanked author for this post.
September 24, 2022 at 1:55 pm #245448We’ve seen what happens when Taft isn’t injured les, HELP centre back required NOW.

September 24, 2022 at 5:11 pm #245471Only one Georgie Taft – one Georgie Taa-aft!
September 24, 2022 at 5:19 pm #245476Leave him up there!
September 24, 2022 at 6:10 pm #245489Lavery could turn out to be a very useful addition on today’s showing. Took his goal well, held it up at times and appears to have what Nuttall lacks, a football brain.

A great start for the lad.
I think he’ll bag quite a few more.September 25, 2022 at 9:40 am #245521Seen the highlights, now. Delighted with the ‘swap’ for Carver.
September 25, 2022 at 1:09 pm #245542Lavery looked really good, especially at this level.
Only problem is Marsh is now crocked so we’re down to 2 viable strikers again.
September 25, 2022 at 3:49 pm #245547…..also Feeney looked like a hamstring injury late on which at his age could mean bye bye till sometime next year or even for good. We still need a centre back despite Tafts moment of madness yesterday.
September 25, 2022 at 7:14 pm #245554We may need another striker as well now. Definitely need a CB though, we have done for ages.
