Ok, so I understand that we’ve not seen what business the club is going to do yet, however I for one am sick of waiting!!

Contracts got withdrawn from players who had yet to sign them, and… I might be wrong, but I’m pretty sure we were told the contracts were pulled so we could move on at pace and get the new squad together ASAP avoiding another disastrous pre-season… I believe the end of May could have been mentioned???
    I could be wrong

How many players left at the end of the season??
Surely we need to pull our finger out???

    Yet…
Now on the 10th of June we are exactly 1 month away from out first preseason friendly and there’s nothing to reassure fans that the years and years of suffering/failure are finally behind us!

What we do have is more players leaving…and unfortunately the really crap ones are left behind to make up this seasons squad.

So I’m going out on a limb and I’ll predict the following…

(1)Average attendances at worrying low levels… 1,500 or less
    (average over the season)

    (2)Cox doesn’t survive the season
(Nice man but IMO, tactically he’s clueless)

    (3) Relegation to Non-league

If I’m wrong I’ll be absolutely delighted!! (I hope I’m wrong)
    But…
If I’m right there’s only ONE person to blame.

    Anyone else got any thoughts??

Relegation. Hope for a turnaround like other occasions but I fear we are in a perfect storm of useless manager and hopeless chairman.

Can’t disagree with any of SS24 predictions.

Without significant recruitment we will be relegated and Cox won’t be here at Christmas.

All together now, to the tune of “for he’s a jolly good fellow”:

“And now they’re gonna believe me,
and now they’re gonna believe me,
and now they’re gonna belieeeeeeve me….”

Can’t say I disagree with any of those predictions. So far, we are yet to see anything in the way of quality sign for us, and I fear that will be the same for the remainder of the pre-season.

Swann has managed to ruin the club during his tenure. He arrived full of promises, decided to gamble the clubs future with an unsustainable and wholly infective transfer policy. Racked up a mountain of debt for a club of our size, then used that debt to grab the only asset the club had.

I genuinely believe that if we go into the season with the squad we have now then we will finish 24th in League 2, and will struggle to make our way back into the football league.

I am not normally a pessimist but I think we are another Bury or Macclesfield,I cannot see us surviving given the current situation

Bottom 4, only hope is a raft of mid-January panic signings will give us a bit of a boost and see us to safety.

Surely the wages of Olomola, Bedeau and Kev must have wiped out the 250k shortfall in budget for this season – and with change!

Money saved on Russ, McGahey and another 14 players must surely cover decent wages for 8 to 10 decentish players. Mustn’t it?

    If not – WHY NOT?

Put the club up for sale Mr Chairman. If the novelty has worn off and this last 15 months must have been energy sapping then call it a day.

Putting the club up for sale is one thing, finding a buyer is another.
With the club in its current state on and off the pitch i cant see many people forming an orderly queue.

With all the land the club or owners company owns how many houses could be built on it.

With the experience our young team and manager picked up last season a mid table finish is the least I would guess.

I’m afraid that horse has long bolted.

No one will touch us without the two biggest assets a club can own and It’s likely Swann would want his full investment paying off if he were ever to sell them back.

I for one think Cox could well surprise us this season. Although a tad worried by our lack of signings so far i still think he will garner a solid enough squad to finnish mid table ish. Which after last seasons horror show would be a major success. I am basing this on no sound logic, other than am normally a glass hall full bloke!

I think it depends who the new signings are, we will probably find out when they announce the new strip in early July when training restarts and a few new faces as well, goalkeeper at the end of August when Neil loses faith with our number one.

Maybe Neil is waiting to raid his old club if they don’t get promoted back to the football league… not looking good for them so far 1 vs 0 down to Torquay

Personally I don’t see any players in the Notts county side who I’d be excited to sign and I certainly wouldn’t be going after Slocombe

Not for me mick… County are a well organised team full of bang average players!

LemonHeigh-Evans on the other hand, the Torquay No7 looks a real handful

Not that he’d sign for us, Cox likes his wingers sat in our own half for the majority of the game so no wing play on offer at SUFC 😡

Absolutely right SS24, first priority for a Cox winger – provide cover for your FB. ( Even if we’ve got the ball.)

To my financial guesswork above – perhaps we should also be brokering in the fees received from Grimsby and Celtic.

The most upset I have been for a prediction coming to reality. All the posters saw it and those that didn’t were hoping for something positive which cannot be faulted. Heartbreaking

    Next season 18th

And so it came to be.

    Predictions for season 2022-23?

Will be a real struggle …finishing 16th to 19th …sounds daft but i would take that if no new owners come in and invest.

Without new ownership, administration unfortunately followed by a further relegation.

For me, not a good scenario if Swann remains, I doubt there’ll be any significant investment, resulting in relegation to NLN at the end of next season. Average age of the first team, 19, significantly increased by Mussy being back in goal. Crowds will start at 1100-1200, but as poor results amass, will dwindle to 800-900 by the end of the season. The scoreboard will remain hors de combat, and the car park will go up to six quid.

All we can hope for is a change of ownership now, as I see it, it’s our only way out of this spiral of decline.

I predict somewhere between 7th and bottom – entirely dependent on what happens with Swanny.
