1 more Right Back. 2 Left Wingers. At least one Central Midfielder with a bit of craft and 1 more striker. To be fair we’ll probably need 2 central midfielders because I can’t see Butterfield staying. Beestin I’m not sure about either.

Shrimpton, Pugh and Rance we have enough battlers, we need a bit more trickery in there.

Nice to get back to some footy talk as the off the field if n ands re Hiltons past , the new land and stuff that normal fans know little about is very negative and tedious and must put guys off posting on here.

WG ..agree but a lot depends of the players still here on contract decision to stay or leave (Butterfield Wilson and Ogle mainly) .. maybe when seeing the excellent new signings coming in they could be swayed to stay.
Good Keeper options with Fitz n Chappo (assuming Foster is leaving) Whitehall Elliot Carver a decent strike force for NLN would expect then to bag plenty .. maybe add one more again Wilson staying or going may effect that.
All in all on the pitch its shaping up ok and im guessing a few more still to come in ….

now just gotta find some where to play.

Don’t need another striker. The 3 you mentioned are fine for that level and Harrison Poulter needs a chance to be ‘in and around.’ Too many and it breeds dissatisfaction. If Wilson and Beeston don’t move on then we have all the cover we need. Creativity in midfield is needed … Butterfield and another … two if he goes.

I do not know that we have a proper ball-winner/destroyer in midfield.

Remember of course we don’t know yet if any under contract will actually be here to start the season.

I do not know that we have a proper ball-winner/destroyer in midfield.

If that’s not Rance or Pugh then you would have to question what they actually do contribute.

Not been impressed by Rance at all … rumoured to of arrived carrying an injury, could well spend more than the average time out injured or suspended as he likes a booking now n then. Hope he stays fit and improves on the performances he put in during the short time he was at Scunny before the end of the season.
Robertson looked a prospect , dont know much about Poulter n the other youngsters.

Hoping Butterfield n Ogle stay ..

    Don’t need another striker

    I do !

Carver is Carver so Whitehall and Elliot will be the main goal getters and if one of those or both get’s injured I wouldn’t want to rely on Carver and an untried youngster no matter how talented they are.

I’d rather we got another one in personally to go with those 3 and then drip feed Poulter minutes here and there and bed him in rather then heaping pressure on him to score. That’s a road we’ve been down before and it hasn’t ended well. I’d much rather prefer him playing with as less pressure on him as possible.

Definitely need some craft in CM.

What do you think of Beestin, is he worth keeping around ?

In my opinion he’s been on the slide for a while now and keeps picking up more and more injuries. No doubt he’s good when he’s fit but is it worth the risk banking on him being fit or would it be better getting a fresh body in the building instead ?

I should imagine there would be a few suitors who would come in for him if he was put up for transfer.

is it just me that looked at the graphic of the squad and thought we need at least eight more?

Beestin needs some consistency in his game. He’s one of several last season who showed, for 10 minutes every 2 or 3 games, how good they can be.
I’d be happy if Carver never played, looks as if he’ll never score. NLN could be his level but he’s never going to improve. A young EFL loanee would be my choice if we can find one with the right attitude.

I’m same with Carver, never been impressed with him. That’s why I find it a bit risky to just go with him and the other 2.

Scunthorpe United can provide an update on the following players:

    – We can confirm the club has rejected an offer from a Championship side for goalkeeper Owen Foster. The 18-year-old has made 13 senior appearances for United so far and scouts from numerous clubs have been to watch the highly-rated shotstopper.

    – Attacker Cameron Wilson has rejected the contract offer made to him by the club this summer and will be moving on. We wish him well for the future.

    – Tom Pugh has signed a new one-year contract with the option of a further year in the club’s favour. The 22-year-old midfielder has made a total of 65 appearances so far in claret and blue, after successfully coming through our academy system. Fellow midfielder Dean Rance has verbally agreed terms on a new contract and is expected to sign in due course.

    – Midfielder Harry Lewis has had his contract terminated by mutual consent. The 19-year-old made a total of 11 senior appearances for the Iron and went out on loan to Gainsborough Trinity and Boston United last season. We wish him well for his future career.

    – Academy trainees Harrison Poulter, Josh Robertson and Nathaniel Wallace have all signed their first ever professional contracts with the club. All three appeared for the first team at stages last season. Tyrell Sellars-Fleming has been offered a professional contract but given more time to consider his future following a trial at Championship side Blackburn Rovers. In addition to Owen Foster, that means five of this year’s academy second year intake have been offered professional contracts. We wish departing scholars Charley Strouther, Harry Elliott-Bell and Ben Pike all the best with their futures.

    – We can confirm player of the season winner Reagan Ogle hasn’t expressed any desire to leave the Iron and is a big part of manager Jimmy Dean’s plans for the 2023-24 season.

    – Midfielder Jacob Butterfield has expressed a desire to play at a higher level and has been made available for transfer, while striker Marcus Carver has also been made available for transfer. This information has been circulated to other clubs.

Good to see improved communication from the club with the latest statements; doesn’t take much.

Ogle potentially staying will be a big plus.

Don’t forget with ogle he was 3rd choice at Hartlepool, maybe he knows he’s better off here where he’s won over the fans than chasing something else and being a bit part player, shame the likes of Hayesy didn’t do the same.

Butterfield we expected to go. Carver wasn’t good enough anyway so expect another striker to come in. Wilson going was kind of expected, he showed enough promise for other clubs to show an interest. Wilson attitude towards the end was shocking so not too bothered.

Foster will end up going regardless but waiting for what is deemed as acceptable bid. Quite a few clubs have been watching him so there will be suitors for him. Ogle staying is definitely a positive.

Nice to know we’re not keeping deadwood here with Carver getting put up for transfer.

Encouraging 3 of the 4 youngsters have signed up. Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of players going and staying, all we need to do is just add 1 right winger to the list of players we need.

Refreshing we’ve been kept in the loop for a change.

…maybe the chanting of “Lazey Hayesy”,constantly, was a good incentive to leave?

All players are only interested in the dough, all this badge kissing nonsense is bollocks and just for show. At least Warnock was honest in his short interview with bru when he stated all players were only interested in their next contract and how much and long it was for, it’s just a bloody job for them, it’s just another pay day, the bigger the better. Good on em I say.

I think some have a feeling, and Hayes cares and cared for the club, but ultimately they need to look after themselves first. Who can blame then when the job is more finite than others and it’s not the most secure?

Not all players Ironawe there are some who don’t and I love them, model example Kvv quite happy at which club he’s at, could move on for more the dough now but will leave it up to Motherwell to decide whether they want to cash in on him, others for us Murphy and Beagrie. I agree with what your saying but I do like the loyalty.

    Hull bid 15k for Foster.

£3.5 million might have clinched it, but £15k – ridiculous. They could have Carver for that though.

15k is insulting, especially considering numerous clubs have been tracking him. 100k is about fair.
