Can understand why Cox went 5-4-1 but it’s not nice to watch and just invites constant pressure. 37% possession at home isn’t great!
That being said, we scored 2 and kept a clean sheet so I’m happy.
Loft MOM, followed closely by Karacan. I’ve been one of Loft’s biggest critics but I’ve been impressed these past two games. Hopefully the two up top stays and gets even better when Kev is back.
January 26, 2021 at 9:49 pm #201796Very, very poor second half by Scunny, just inviting teams into your box for 45 mins is asking for troible, I wander what you would be saying if they had taken a couple of their chances, we will never know.
January 26, 2021 at 9:50 pm #201797People need to remember he is fighting for his job and more importantly we are fighting for our league status which 2 games ago we all thought was severely under threat.
If he continued to allow them to pump balls in the box and we conceded 2 he’d have been crucified for not altering it.
Don’t want to see it most games but the result was all important tonight.
January 26, 2021 at 9:59 pm #201798What we do know BS is that we have kept a clean sheet for 2 games at home for the first time in the best part of 3 years (thanks to Iron Stats for that information).
Don’t much care for the second half tactics myself either but we can only criticise it when it doesn’t work.
Get the boys in a socially distanced ice bath and let’s go for 9 points in 6 days at Colchester on Friday.
By the way BS is Loft still a donkey?
January 26, 2021 at 10:06 pm #201800“we will never know”.
We do know, they didn’t. The defence is looking far more reliable, Taft and Karacan have made a big difference, far fewer daft mistakes.
I do agree that Cox starts to have more confidence in the team to keep hold of the ball and play well for 2 halves.
But they have 3 matches in 6 games, we have 2 good wins, so they should get some credit.
January 26, 2021 at 10:22 pm #201801That was a great result tonight so well done guys for a sterling effort, another clean sheet and Loft really showing what he can do with proper support. Guess the Colchester game was arranged a while back for this Friday but Saturday would have suited us better, hope its not a game too far but I’m sure the guys will give it a real go. Eisa came through!!! great, hope he’s good to go again next game, we really need all our main players fit to go ASAP. UP THE IRON.
January 26, 2021 at 10:27 pm #201803Quick shout out for Howard tonight.
Hope he had his Fitbit on. I reckon he covered more distance in his box tonight than he did in his previous games put together.
Keep it up Mark. You know it makes sense.
January 27, 2021 at 4:12 am #201805In both halves, the ball was pumped into our box with scary regularity.
The GK played well but the CBs were terrific which is why we got away with a clean sheet.
If I had to guess, I would say that the ball was lifted into our penalty area, on average and at the very least, once every three minutes. In part, we got away with this because the Vale strikers were not all that good.
A reasonably competent attack might well have given us a thrashing.
When the ball is in your crowded box that often you can always expect ricochets and the like.
It is easy to blame the FBs but Vale were really good at pushing crosses towards the penalty spot from a variety of different angles and varied positions on the pitch. We had no idea how to stop this. The formation change hardly helped at all in that respect.January 27, 2021 at 10:16 am #201809Taft is very good and now we’ve got 3 quality cbs plus Bedeau if needed we can be a lot more confident.
Howard starting to show his quality wether it’s fitness or confidence in himself or the defence who knows.
Karacan is going to make a real difference. Already looks far too good for league 2 think we are very lucky to have him. We’ve neede experience in Cm all season but to get someone with such high level experience is massive. Always talking and instructing which we have sorely missed.
Loft looking like the player some people could always see with a partner. If him and Kev click and can stay fit we could be very dangerous.
Not sure what we will be able to Friday though Loft looked almost dead by the time he went off. He wasn’t his usual self right from the start but he had the energy when he needed it.

No MK Iron, that status has moved from him to yourself’ it is so easy to crow after the event has played out, it worked out this time, but think back to a few earlier games when it was a complete failure, do you not think that if we had carried on like the fist half that we would have not still won ?????, we will never know mate, but did you enjoy the second half ?
Lets hope for another win on Friday, Colchester are not doing very well, so go for three more points.
January 27, 2021 at 6:00 pm #201853No I didn’t BS and I agree it’s not a tactic I agree with.
Vale are an OK league 2 team with a poor and slow defence. Dropping back for me meant we stopped putting pressure on their weaknesses and allowed them the opportunity to do the things they are better at. This time we got away with it. Usually we dont.
I really wish coaches would forget the myth of “managing the game”. It works for Guardiola who has 25 players who can keep the ball for fun. It certainly does not work at the arse end of Leagues 1 and 2.
I would haver brought off Loft who was out on his feet and continually played balls past their statuesque back 4 and watched Eisa, Green and Hallam terrorise them.
Having said all of that I’ll take a dire 90 minutes on Friday if we get a result. We can worry about decent football when we have 50 points.

January 27, 2021 at 9:42 pm #201861Think I was on that bus mate! Was it the night game where Chris cowling scored the only goal?
January 27, 2021 at 10:09 pm #201862If that’s for me, I very very much doubt we were on the same bus. 😀
January 28, 2021 at 12:55 am #201863Well summed up MK Iron, you have now lost the donkey status ha ha!, but the one error you made was saying that Port Vale are an ok side, look at their record pal and they have won ONE game out of their last THIRTEEN matches, and that was against the mighty mariners from Grimsbt, qnd the fact that even Scunny completed the double over them, so you are now mule status ha ha!
January 28, 2021 at 8:27 am #201864Get yourself off to Specsavers Barton if the lockdown ever ends.
I said Vale were an OK side with a crap back four.
They are more capable of playing football than most of the other relnegation threatened teams but as we well know if your back four is poor the good football counts for little. Unless you opponents deliberately stop attacking of course.
January 28, 2021 at 1:11 pm #201873Take it your bus was full of ” Psychos” TW, get up that pylon son.
January 28, 2021 at 1:23 pm #201874How old?
January 28, 2021 at 7:01 pm #201882Take it your bus was full of ” Psychos” TW, get up that pylon son.
No psychos, I did have six pylons to pick from, but unlike ‘some’ never bothered. 😋
January 28, 2021 at 7:56 pm #201888Not surprised TW,why would you want to stand next to a pylon outside the ground?
January 28, 2021 at 8:17 pm #201889That’s dependent on which ground the pylons are at.
January 29, 2021 at 10:48 am #201908But your Hull city’s were outside.
January 29, 2021 at 11:14 am #201912If you left anything outside in Hull it would disappear in 5 minutes.
