Marcus Dewhurst GKTurnbull named them all. Turnbull said we would have 3 or 4 in by our first proper pre season match on July 16th. Considering we’re about 8 or 9 players short, if you weren’t already worried….you should be now. No mention at all of any strikers.
4 in tops by the 16th, so we’ll be looking around for dregs for the other 4 or 5.

Topics: 11Not sure what you people expect, we’re in the national league averaging attendances of between 2-2.5k. Unless you want someone to come in and splash the cash like Swann did in the first 4/5 seasons then this is the reality. It’s upto whoever is manager to gel the players into a hard working team.
“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
Wrexham still in the National League despite splashing the cash.

That’s all well and good but you still need a large enough to compete in that league, it’s unforgiving. No way simple hard work can make up for a lack of players.

July 1, 2022 at 10:23 pm #239793Uptheiron99 , I hope you don’t mind me throwing in my two tuppence worth as a cod head on your own forum , but you really need to wake up and smell the coffee mate. I’ve seen what’s being done to your club twice at ours.
How many players of those are youth players ? Realistically who do you think you are going to sign in the next 5 weeks ,apart from monkeys when Swanny is paying peanuts?
Apologists like you , like they did with us make the situation worse.
We had people like you telling us Fenty was the saviour and without him there wouldn’t be a club . Blaming the fans for staying away.
He’s only been gone a year and we’re on course to sell 5000 season tickets this year, more than we ever did at championsip level .
Don’t accept what you’re getting now. It’s nothing short of disgraceful and I say that as a rival .Total of 21 users thanked author for this post. Here are last 20 listed.
July 1, 2022 at 10:33 pm #239795Captain Cod… brilliant post!! Thank you!!
Peter Swann needs to lower the asking price and disappear and take uptheiron99 with him!
(although they are probably the same person or related!!)This club ‘COULD’ do really well next season yet it looks like we will be a laughing stock yet again… this is all down to one man!!
2500-4000 home fans is realistic with a good team put together but we’re doing F**K all… funny thing is every year of the demise swann says lessons have been learnt as we didn’t start preseason right and recruitment came too late… Peter Swann you make me sick!!! 🤮2 users thanked author for this post.

What else can the club pay when the fans have deserted the club because they don’t like Swann?
Perhaps if you’d sold 5000 season tickets in previous seasons you wouldn’t have had to endure several seasons in the National league.
It’s no good moaning about the budget when probably a third of the fans are sat at home crying. Get your arse down to GP, pay your money and if the budget is still ‘peanuts’ voice your opinion.
July 1, 2022 at 11:21 pm #239802It’s very convenient to say the fans deserted the club because they hated Swann, as that fits your fans blame narrative. The reality is that more and more have attended less and less due to what has been served up over the last few years. A lot more fans hate him now we’re out the league I should imagine, but that’s not why many stopped attending and continue to do so, even though the buck stops with him. A roundabout way of saying, the fans aren’t to blame, as much as you lay the blame at their door, he is.

Topics: 11Of course the football has been terrible over the last 3 seasons, but staying away won’t help it get better.
Sure when a new owner comes in they might be able to afford to lose some money by spending it on the playing budget.
Until someone shows Swann the money then the club will spend based upon its income.

July 1, 2022 at 11:34 pm #239806So you admit the football over the last 3 years being terrible isn’t the fans fault. So why is it still? And, as Richgy pointed out the other day, plenty of clubs in the NFL can hold their own with gates of 1-1,500. So we ought to be able to right?

Solihull – 2752

The fans have not deserted the club because they hate Swann, they have deserted the club because they have been served up with boring, unentertaining defensive shite for four years, so it is the club management that have deserted the supporters, thats why there are now about 1,700 remaining instead of the 4,000 as we had before. Same as it was stated, pack your bags and get yourself to Blackpool along with that relative of yours.

July 1, 2022 at 11:54 pm #239812Agree with your sentiments above BS, apart from the abuse. Can we try and have a discussion with UTI99 without it?

July 2, 2022 at 2:19 am #239815How many players of those are youth players ?
That’s the point. uptheiron, you’re counting players who are undercooked/inexperienced in with the whole squad number which in it’s self is absolutely ridiculous.
We’re 8 0r 9 players short of a balanced squad, if you fill in the other 4/5 gaps with current youth players we truly are fecked.
What do you think would happen if the experienced players pick up injuries and were left with a glorified youth team playing in this uncompromising league ?
If we only sign 4 players it will be nowhere near good enough. 1 of those 4 will be a rookie GK and Hallam who’s one of the experienced ones currently on the books is injured for the most part.
You can’t just simply fill slots with people who have little to no experience and count them as viable back ups.
Only you uptheiron, only you !

July 2, 2022 at 5:01 am #239818How many times do we need the restaurant analogy or similar, I wonder?
You know a great restaurant – you pay your money and are served with great food.
One day you are served poor food – as a person of generous spirit – you write that off and give it one more try.
It may be the end of for you and the restaurant – or, perhaps, a new beginning.Over the last four years, Iron fans have been served with food fit for cockroaches six or seven DOZEN times. (And that’s in home games alone!)
Frankly, how any fans remain is astonishing. It shows incredible dedication and loyalty on their part.4 users thanked author for this post.
July 2, 2022 at 8:54 am #239820When I saw the title of this thread, I had great hopes and was pondering the possible charges……
Alas apart from everything in UTI-99s garden being rosy again. Laa laa laa laa. You should not be trying to convince 3000 to come back, but concentrate on getting the 1500 to stay.
On the Hallam debate, I don’t really count him cos when he is fit, he is crap!.
Another squad of never was’s and never will be’s, National North here we come.

July 2, 2022 at 10:49 am #239824Captain We are desperate for Swann to go and help us change the direction of our once proud and punching Above our weight little club, it has taken 4 seasons for us to get where we are and won’t change overnight even if we are sold tomorrow.
I’am a football supporter who supports Scunthorpe United! But I will go watch any local team and went to Grimsby with my mate at least 5 times last season, you could feel the change in attitude within the club from the very first time i attended blunder park.(sorry had to get that one in)
Grimsby have moved forward so quickly since fenty went it is unbelievable and your new owners should be applauded, this was done on the pitch last season and is being done again with the supporters buying season tickets.
You have shown us what can be done in a short space of time, but to be fair to the new acting chairman at Scunny the club is trying to move us forward but with their hands tied behind they back it is nearly impossible in the short term.
Long term hopefully we can get a new owner or owners! I do however hope like Grimsby they are local and have the club at their heart and not a owner like Swann became who lost complete interest once things got tough.
I will always support scunny but will still try to attend a few games at Grimsby with my mate and hopefully we will renew our rivalry on the pitch very soon, this season is one he need to battle through and just survive then hopefully we will be in a better place to move forward after that.

July 2, 2022 at 1:32 pm #239845Some of his final touches are heavenly.
July 2, 2022 at 2:11 pm #239847Chorlton at RB vs Middlesbrough. 18yo Louie Chorlton used to be at Rochdale so probably him, he fits the profile of a likely Hillite.
July 2, 2022 at 2:11 pm #239848Just a thought if Mr Swann sold the club and all the assets for the same price he paid for it from Mr Wharton then maybe he would have more chance of selling it. Unfortunately he wants to get back a very large portion of the money HE wasted, while most of the fans were under the illusion that it was his money he was spending. Its clear now that he was actually spending the value of the ground and the land so SUFC is left with absolutely nothing.

was at Bradford City last season Cass so our acting chairman has informed me, so seeing Lee spent time there I presume it would be a joint effort between him and Keith to give him a trial.
July 2, 2022 at 4:59 pm #239869It gets worse, as if we don’t have enough of our own in experienced players we taking other clubs 18 year old rejects.
