Well at last, a fighting game by our lads who fully deserved the win, lets have more of the same guys.

HOWARD–6–Not much to do today, but is a nightmare when cross balls are swung into his area.
BROWN–7–Nice to see experience at the back, this has been missing this season.
BEDEAU–7–Put in a shift today and kept Oldham at quiet in the middle.
ONALIASE–7–Played well and was an anchor in defence.
CLARKE–7–Played well, and nice to see him back, and lasted the 90 mins.
SPENCE–7–His best game to date, really got stuck in.
BEESTON–8–Should be automatic selected on this form.
EISA–Some clever fast runs, is better with more match time–7–
GILLIEAD–7–Really worked his socks off, dropped deeper 2nd half to help against their winger.
LOFT–6–Played well, without any decent balls to him first hour, worked hard.
KVV–8–My MOM along with Beeston, worked very hard, great goal and good to see him back

SUBS–NA–Not on long enough to mark.

MANAGER–8–Well done for team selection, and the lads put everything into their game today, and nice 3 points for us suffering fans, please have a word with your goalkeeping coach regarding our keeper being rooted to his line for all crosses, he should claim or clear many that are swung into his goal area.

REF–7–No complaints today, he had a good match and kept most things moving.

Our last 8 or 9 keepers have shown no desire to leave their line, even those that did so when they arrived. Spot the common denominator.

Beestin looks a class above going by the last few matches. You can clearly see how he got 50 games under his belt for donny at league one level.

Beestin needs a contract extension pretty sharpish, he’s runs out end of this season I think.

Well done to everybody. Clarke I don’t think will be available on Tuesday though, you would have thought he’ll need resting.

Beestin being overlooked for Vincent was criminal…not only does the dirty side but get’s forward from time to time and good range of passing..he looks to be a good all rounder.

Bedeau was really good today as well..even Loft did well at times.

If we can continue this upward curve to see us through to January and sign 3 experienced players just to help bolster the squad, we should be ok.

Pretty much the same as BS but a 6 for Clarke and 8 for Bedeau, who for a centre half showed better control for his goal than Loft has the entire season!

Loft does look a bit ungainly at times I must admit. Pity he didn’t have Torpey’s close control ! Old Torps wasn’t exactly a rolls royce type player but he has a really good touch.

I hope Loft develops that down the line. If he continues to make a nuisance of himself and do the donkey work to make space for Van Veen and Gillead and Eisa cutting in from the wing then I’m at least satisfied with him in the team but he definitely needs to work on his technique a bit.

Yes Cass and 7 of them on target, that is a lot better than the usual 2 on target, I must say that I really enjoyed watching the match today, I normally love going to our Oldham away matches and havn’t missed many over the years, it is a nice little 90 min trip there, call at the shopping area when leaving the M62 for some food, the away car park is right next to the away stand, so great for blue badge guys, and plenty of room in the away stand.

What did fans think of todays strip, I thought it was the best one we have had for years, certainly beats the old drab claret and blue, or green, and the black shorts look class.

Thought it looked shite with black shorts. The claret ones from the home kit would have been better.

    Ah, Torps.
I can recall the FA cup game at Pompey.
I commented to my companion that Torpey won every header that day and sent the ball in the direction of a Scunny player but Sheringham won every header and put it to the feet of a Pompey man.

Put a Torps alongside what we have at present and the wins would flood in.

That’s the problem with Loft, he gets his head on almost everything that comes his way…but it ends up going to absolutely nobody!

Interesting to read about the goalkeeping situation, makes me wonder if opposition scouts see this and other teams set up to flood the box with crosses.

    Hope Beestin gets a run.

Onariase looks solid at this level.

I’d like to see Olomola get a run but not sure KVV and him would be a good pairing.

Yes we have had goalkeeping problems for possibly 3 years now, and our defence who have been a lot less than being safe, nust shudder when balls are thrown into out goal area, either in the air or low crosses. Ou keepers always look to be in some sort of trance are are always rooted to the goal line, keepers should have control of the area and not just leave everything to the defenders, how often do you see keepers that are playing against us, just stay rooted to the goal line liks dummies,. Other teams must know this, but yet Oldham made the glowing mistake of taking about five short corners on Saturday which all ended in nothing, like they normally do. At thee end of the day, many supporters are noting this, so why is Musser doing nothing to correct the situation, the ironical thing is that pre-match kick abouts have Musser in font of the Cluggy stand floating crosse for the keepers to come and meet and catch, but during game time they never leave their lines, why cannot Musser see what everyone else sees??

    Very fair point, BS.
I would settle for GKs commanding the six yard box and a further two yards besides.
I do not recall goal-line hugging by Howard at his previous teams – I’m pretty sure I’d have noticed.

Obviously got lucky at Oldham with them having a “Musser” coached keeper between the sticks!
