Solid first game for us, I actually enjoyed the game.
    Here’s how I scored our players tonight…

Dewhurst 7 – worries me a little, could have been punished a couple of times when he came for balls he shouldn’t have but some good distribution and one fine save.
Ogle 7 – great offensively , ok defensively
O’Mally 7 – lively going forward but unsure at the back
Taft 7 looked pretty good TBF, one error we got away with other than that pretty solid
Boyce 8 – Great home debut (again)
    Beestin 7 – steady
    Butterfield 9 – outstanding
    Whitehouse 8 – solid
    Feeney 8 – A really solid display
Daniel 7 – possibly the worst performance from a lot of very good ones on the night
Nuttall 7 – nice movement and a few good touches but he’s not going to score more than 5 this season if that

Overall really pleased with that start to the season and performance

Didn’t Ogle give away possession which led to their goal?

He did, shame because it was otherwise an impressive debut.

    I’d probably downgrade Whitehouse to a 7 and Daniel / Nuttall to a 6.

I had no idea what position Daniel was supposed to be playing and Nuttall always looks like he’s trying to run in quick sand.

Good performance though, Butterfield looked quality. Real nice to have that winning feeling back on a Saturday evening!

Thought Feeney much improved on last season, looked fitter, quicker and a real pain in the arse for their defence.

    Jamie Reckord eh?

Unlike an ex-player to score against us!

I said when he signed Butterfield that he shouldn’t be at this level. In my opinion he should be comfortable at top end league 1 level. I don’t know what Hill said to him to get him to sign but whatever it was he needs a pat on the back from every iron fan for getting him in.

    Whitehouse looked good as well.

Anybody know the length of Butterfield’s contract ?

Perhaps we used our parachute money to bring in Butterfield. He MUST be on a fair whack.

No doubt he’ll be on fair wedge but still to even attract him to play at this level is staggering. Ironically we’ve dropped down to national league and we’ve got a player like Butterfield.

Whitehouse is no slouch himself either. Both will need to be managed carefully and rested at times throughout the season. If we can keep both fit, I don’t think you’ll find many, if any better at this level.

    What is Ogle’s brief?
I loved the role he was given.
Here, there and everywhere. (Ok just so long as we have other midfielders, in the know, and falling back to cover RB.) Funny. I’d thought he was taller. No matter.
This looked a decent team but squad depth is dangerously lacking.

I’d give my knees up for Whitehouse. Praying he can stay fit.

Why did the ball get back to Ogle we had the ball near their left corner, at 2-0 we should be going for another goal, nobody has mentioned the ref supposed to be really poor in this lge what a good game he had totally invisible for both teams.
