Well it’s just reached half time, bt aftert just abour controling the 45 mins, trail by 0-1, with Colchester scoring with their one chance of the game, whereas Scunny should have scored a coupl wirg all their chances
As I forcast yesterday, after two good wins and scoring seven goals in them, Cox cannot resist making stuoid decisions, and he dropped all three forwards, it just had to be didn’t it!!!!
The Colchester goal came against the run of play when a cross came over from the left wing into the centre of the goal area, and as per usual Howard stayed rooted to his line leaving an easy job for the Colchester man, noyjing changes in that department!!
So please add your comments and player ratings on here..
December 8, 2020 at 9:08 pm #198783Can’t fault the players tonight! it was one of those nights a keeper having a great game and if he was beaten the post and crossbar saved him thought Colchester were a very average side.
Once again beestin was outstanding think we have a very, very good player in him who you can see playing at a lot higher level reminds a lot of Ryan Yates.December 8, 2020 at 9:24 pm #198787Any other game we would have had it won by half time. Very unlucky. Still a big improvement on early season…
December 8, 2020 at 9:27 pm #198788Who gave Jarvis a two year deal? Very poor
December 8, 2020 at 9:28 pm #198789Howard 6 nothing to do
Clarke 6 looked leggy few good runs imagine will be rested for next match
McGahey 6 worrying injury
Onoraise 8 solid as ever
OMalley 8 hell of a left foot. Sorts out his positional defending and we’ll sell him for £1m
Beestin 7 tidy enough
Spence 7 tidy enough
Taylor 4 offered very little and did not play well at all
Jarvis 3 not a very good footballer. Bad first half anonymous second
Gillead 8 good runs tried hard to push the team on
Green 6 had his marker booked in first half then did nothing after that, decent shot but overall disappointing.Loft 8 played well and was at the heart of everything
Eisa 4 doesn’t look great at home games for some reason
Rowe 6 steady
Bedeau 7 played wellDecember 8, 2020 at 9:32 pm #198790Final whistle just blown, and how the hell did we not win this game, against a very poor Colchester team making their first away win of the season. One shot by them and won 1-0, makes one feel really down, when three points were on a plate for us.
HOWARD–5—He really does worry me, when so slow and laid back, never made a save all game.
O’MALLY—8—Played very well and did nothing wrong.
McGAHEY—7—ok BUT SHOULD HAVE SCORED.
ONARIASE—8—Defended well had a good game.
CLARKE—7—No complaints, but could onerlap more.
GILLIEAD—6—Had a fairly quiet game for him.
SPENCE—7—7I novled with much midfield play.
BEESTIN—9—Mt MOM, he never stops and played his heart out.
JARVIS—5—Gave away far too many free kicks, should have scored 2 goals.
TAYLOR–5—Has not produced what he myst have in his game, good first 10 mins only.
GREEN–5—Waisted to many balls by shooting, and caught out too often.SUBS EISA—5—Did nothing really, BEDAUE—7—Played ok.
ROWE—8—PLAYED VERY WELL, UNLUCKY NOT SELECTED.REF—5—Usual poor game from him, to whistle happy.
COX—4—The Tinkerman, How stupid can one get, dropped all three forwards after the team won their last two matches scoring SEVEN GOALS, this Stupid decision cost us three points, but I said on here yesterday he cannot stop fiddling even when things are going well, anoth manager that thinks he nows best, but his results prove this wrong.
We did not have much luck today, but we created so many chances to win easily, against a very poor team, the worst I have seen this season, I feel sure that if Eisa and McAtee had started the game, we would have easily have won this game, Jarvis and Green are not the answer, tis will probably upset a couple of players with the team selection.
SUPPORTERS—-I would think that 95% of us are pissed off.
December 8, 2020 at 10:10 pm #198798Agree leaving all three forwards out together instead of maybe rotating one each game probably cost us, yet it’s the best I have seen us play and any luck we had Saturday we didn’t today.
Howard 6, Clarke 6, McGahey 6, Onaraise 7, O’Malley 7, Spence 6, Beestin 7, Green 6, Jarvis 5, Taylor 5, Gillihead 8.
December 9, 2020 at 11:28 am #198814For me Beestin was MOM by a mile, broke up play got moving forward, formed a great partnership with Spence,Loft offers far more than Jarvis, and Macatee can’t be tired he’s hardly played missed his link up play especially with Eisa
December 9, 2020 at 4:12 pm #198827Unbelievable.
A few short weeks ago – we had an ineffective CM with Spence toiling alone.
We now have a CM with two players understanding each other and beginning to tear up trees.
Good, innit?December 9, 2020 at 4:48 pm #198830SUPPORTERS—-I would think that 95% of us are pissed off.
Put me in the 5% then.
December 9, 2020 at 5:17 pm #198832I’ll join the the 5%
December 9, 2020 at 6:51 pm #198834I am in the 5% also.
Possibly our best home performance thi season, certainly in the top 2.
Colchester got away with one and they know it. Anyone who has played in games where your team is comfortably the better side but the ball just wont go in.
9 times out of 10 the opposition goalkeeper has a great game and the other team score the one time your defence goes to sleep.
Worse teams than Colchester were spanking us a month or two ago.

Yes, maybe our second best home performance of the season, I must agree with you on this point, but could that be because we have only won two home games out of twelve played, and one of them we got battered by Carlisle but some how got the three points.
My main point when saying fans must be pissed off is that a tea that had got max points from the last two matches, and scored seven goals in doing so have all threee forwads dropped, and although the defence played really well, the same cannot be said for the three replacements, Taylor, Green and Jarvis who in general were bloody dire. Can anyone of the 5% point out why this is acceptable, because I cannot., it was bloody stupid, and the result reflects his stupidity.
December 10, 2020 at 10:03 am #198856Evidently we played attacking football, and that’s all I want to see,If the results don’t go our way so be it, I just want to be entertained not bored to death.
December 10, 2020 at 10:14 am #198858Also BS how are we (and Cox) going to know if Taylor, Green and Jarvis are ever going to be any good if they don’t ever play.
Taylor was hihighly rated in a decent Port Vale team for 30 odd games last season. I think there is a player there in Green. He just needs a couple of goals and/or assists to help him gain a bit of composure on the ball.Don’t forget many were calling Loft a donkey 3 weeks ago.
Basically Colchester did to us what we did to Carlisle. You win some if these and you lose some.
December 10, 2020 at 12:31 pm #198863Still no valid suggestion on why a manager should drop all three of his forwrds after playing so well in our two mest previous games and scoring seven goals just for good measure, and regarding attacking football, those two games provided that didn’t they, the fact is that this Cox guy thinks that he knows best, same as him playing this bloody stupid 5-4-1 or whatever he decided to adopt.
December 10, 2020 at 1:17 pm #198864BS, why should we, supporters limited to (at best) watching on TV, know the reasons why Neil Cox made the changes he did? Were the players carrying knocks, not fully fit, etc. McAtee for one has had a stop/start season. Loft has played most games and run himself into the ground in most of those games. Playing twice a week and all the problems associated with Covid-19 means that there will be many more changes to the team than usual.
Oh, by the way, calling the manager ‘this Cox guy’ only shows your ignorance.
December 10, 2020 at 4:07 pm #198873Basically Colchester did to us what we did to Carlisle. You win some if these and you lose some.
This ^^^^^
The fact is that this Cox guy thinks that he knows best.
This “Cox guy” is getting paid to do what he thinks is best.
He has shown that given a fully fit squad he can get us playing decent stuff. Unfortunately, for various reasons he hasn’t been able to do so for any length of time, and the back up players are not doing the business as yet. As MKI states above, many haven’t had the game time to prove themselves. Others have and proved they’re not up to L2 standards.
If Neil keeps us in this division in such bizarre circumstances. He deserves to be in charge for 2021-22.
December 10, 2020 at 4:28 pm #198877Very fair reflection NI from what I’ve heard in the main.
December 10, 2020 at 6:11 pm #198887Been out today with a couple of mates including Sunderland and Bradford fans.
My Bantam pal wants McCall sacked and Parkinson reappointed. And my Mackem mate was bemoaning the fact that Johnson has done nowt and is no better a replacement.
It’s the old managerial roundabout of course and who’s to say manager x will do better than manager y? That’s why I’m prepared to give Cox more time.
