Les, I’d play Daniel at LB for his experience and try Jai Rowe at CB next to Boyce. I don’t really see him as a CB but Taft at times is bordering on comical. I wouldn’t go with Ethan Young at CB because where we are currently will heap far too much pressure on him.

Use Nthle and Daniel as the two Lb options. Strictly use O’Malley as a winger in a 4/3/3 formation. Great going forward but can’t defend, which is never good when you’re at LB !

Have O’Malley and young Lewis as the LW options. Least then at least we’ll fully utilize the squad. I like O’Malley when going forward but I’ll say that defensively he’s right up there with worst LB’s we’ve fielded.

Next to no positional sense, tackling leaves something to be desired and his marking is non existent at times. O’Malley will have enough about him to cover inside for a CM but I wouldn’t put him at LB again.

O’Malley has been here long enough to grasp how to defend and if he still can’t do it then be done with it, play him further forward and play to his strengths. The defensive deficiencies of O’Malley is all the more worse because we’ve got Taft right next to him and he’s shite himself.

Couldn’t support the idea of O’Malley on the left of a MF 3 but happy if in a 4-4-2 for his crossing ability alone. If we’re going to play 2 strikers then play them as a pair down the middle not p*****g about out wide. Finally – get the other 4 in asap.

If we were to play 4/3/3 with Whitehouse, Beestin and Butterfield in CM, then that will be a solid enough base to allow O’Malley enough freedom to bomb down the left and get crosses in but agree with you in that I would much prefer 2 strikers up top.

4/3/1/2 formation would do me and have the width coming from the FB’S. I also understand the frustration with Hill fucking about with the strikers. Why not just stick two up top and have them through the middle and allow the midfielders and full backs to provide the ball ?

What is his fascination on playing Nuttall as a wide, split striker ?. I don’t get it, he’s more of a winger at times. Not quite sure what Hill is trying to do.

    Played 4 – Lost 3 after today?

Still, they’ve only won one game themselves so far.

It still amazes me that WG has never had a job as a Football League manager, he clearly has so much to offer the game.

Watched Solihull v York on box the other night, both sides physically fit though no great threat going forward. They are beatable tomorrow, we are our own worst enemy by failing to block the ball into the box, sort that out and three points are achievable. See how we are ten matches in.
Unless hillbuild is headhunted by Rochdale, they have lost four on the bounce so he should have no trouble fitting in there. Fingers crossed

You know if you ever acquire a sense of humour it will be as a result of you removing your balls from between your ears, not holding my breath on that one.

    Things ain’t going too well.
The next 7 games, which takes us up to the end of September are going to be very difficult.
We don’t want to be in the bottom four cone Christmas!

Yep a run of nasty fixtures in which we may pick up a couple of jammy draws and a win ( Halifax) .. SO that said im predicting we will be bottom four 11 games into the season , possibly managerless or with a caretaker and still lumbered with Swan .. on the bright side the Iron bar wont be too crowded and we still got the FnC van and singer unless he jumps the sinking ship as well due to lack of interest and abetter gig option at Keadby WMC

IN SHORT …….IT AINT LOOKING GOOD GUYS !!

Given our record of helping teams end a losing run I think the Halifax game is our least likely 3 points out of the next 7 games.

If it is, we will be entering September in a troubled position.

To be honest I am in total shock of the last four games, with the squad we have I would have expected a win at Maidenhead, a point at Woking, last week would have expected to lose but not at 3-0 up, I blame Keith’s substitutions for that one, today I would have been happy with a draw but when you play sixty minutes against ten men you should at least draw and really win, but this is Scunthorpe and we are used to new lows every season for the last four years and a bit.
