Here’s a better game NI, Famous Football Quotes, I’ll kick us off with a classic that may be appropriate very soon, ” Some people are on the pitch they think it’s all over, it is now “.
September 15, 2023 at 9:40 am #272186First day I’ve woke up feeling slightly optimistic about the club’s future since April time. Fingers crossed there’s a positive outcome from the mess.
September 15, 2023 at 9:47 am #272189Morning DM, are you feeling ill 🤔
September 15, 2023 at 9:50 am #272192Woke up next to a four leaf clover. Keep the faith.
September 15, 2023 at 9:58 am #272195She sounds a lovely girl, Irish I presume 😂, or is that Shamrock?, always get mixed up with that one.
September 15, 2023 at 10:07 am #272203Passed out blind drunk in a field
September 15, 2023 at 10:11 am #272206Hope it wasn’t a stubble field, can be rather prickly a few weeks after harvesting, previous knowledge on that one.😜

Is there any activity taking place in organising a new club?

September 29, 2023 at 12:56 pm #274043Sadly it does look time to activate these plans as it doesn’t seem very likely that SUFC will be around in its current incarnation for much longer.
Obviously the next week or two will be crucial and we may find a way through this dreadful mess, but it doesn’t seem likely.
Haven’t commented much in the last few days as just absolutely gutted and sick with it all. Today’s fundraiser to help unpaid staff is a really encouraging sign that things may be moving in the background.

Don’t wish to be negative Jon but I could be described as a cynical old b*****d. (I’ve become increasingly so over recent years following The Iron)
Can you be sure which pockets the funds raised will go in to?September 29, 2023 at 2:50 pm #274057Good point CT. Personally, I am very confident that Matt E & B and the Iron Hour Podcast guys are smart enough to make sure the funds get to the right people.

September 29, 2023 at 3:11 pm #274058Matt & the guys involved here have given me no reason to think otherwise. With so many donating from across the footballing community and a lot of media scrutiny on this situation I’m pretty confident it will end up with the SUFC staff.

September 29, 2023 at 3:18 pm #274059I just worry that, when the money is given to the Club, the owner could be the one who decides where it will go. Presumably tax & NI will be due and we don’t have a great recent record in dealing with that.
September 29, 2023 at 3:43 pm #274069Doesn’t have to be given to the club does it? Direct donations to staff and players could be made, I would hope.

This is the way, surely. Absolutely under no circumstances should it be given to the club itself.

September 29, 2023 at 3:53 pm #274071why would it be given to the club? I’m sure it will be straightforward to estabish a mechanism where it can be paid to those who need it directly.A little bit like strike pay where those who need money are paid by a mechanism outwith the company /factory.
Would be deranged to hand it over the the club in its present state but no need to do that. I’m sure Matt and the organisers will update everyone.
