I agree Sharp Shooter. We too would rather support a phoenix club run by people like Simon and Ian who love SUFC. than what Hilton has planned. Our supporters support our Club and our Club should support our town, not support Ilkeston Town over 70 miles away. He is also taking money away from our town, making redundancies and staff losing their jobs. This will cause a knock on effect financially with food outlets and accommodation as players will be renting accommodation at Ilkeston rather than at Scunthorpe. What makes Hilton think all our players will live around Ilkeston. I feel its excuses and not reasons that he is giving for what he intends.

I am beginning to think with all the posts about what Hilton is doing, Company House, names flying about of people I have not heard of, fans having slanging matches in the Car Park etc, I am wondering if our fans want him to go and leave us in the lurch again, just remember he has paid the tax man, paid the wages and gave it a go bringing players in though it failed miserably, but gave it a go, regarding what goes on behind the scenes is nothing to do with the supporters and just let him get on with it or l can see him losing interest and then you may get your wish and get a Phoenix Club and start again playing Bottesford and Winterton, before he took over you we would all have been happy just to have our club and play in the NLN, if you want a Phoenix Club we could drop another 3 divisions so just give the bloke a chance and stop all the gossip and posts of negativity on Here, Twitter and Facebook, regarding Jimmy Dean I am not sure he is the right man but again a preseason and new squad will hopefully stop the last 5 years rot and we can get a winning team, because it can’t get worse, so let’s get behind Hilton and give him a chance he’s only been here 3 months so give him a full season and let’s hope we have a new beginning.

As for rumours, if they can be substantiated we should take heed. Much isn’t, which is the problem. Those making accusations need to be more wise or not spread malicious and damaging gossip (if untrue). However, if they are true, I won’t be following someone like that like a lemming.

One of the reasons I registered was to say that if a phoenix club is seriously under consideration you could do worse than to talk to Southend United fans via the Shrimpers Trust.

They did a fair amount of due diligence on the topic around the beginning of the year when the club regularly started missing wage deadlines.
