Is an idea to petition the councils regarding ensuring the safety of our Club and Stadium the way forward. It feels as if we supporters should be doing something and everything we can to make sure that Swann doesnt have any legal entitlement to wind our Club up and take the stadium and land. Surely it would be easy to petition supporters on the way into the stadium and get as many signatures as possible and hand it in to the appropriate council department. Also this could be advertised in the press and on the radio.
February 19, 2022 at 7:49 pm #232281Sorry about the spelling in the title. Should be NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL
February 19, 2022 at 8:05 pm #232286What would we petition them to do, exactly?
February 19, 2022 at 8:10 pm #232287No it would be embarrassing with less than 1500 signatures.
February 19, 2022 at 9:52 pm #232292Sorry about the spelling in the title. Should be NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL
Hell NLI, that spelling is worse than mine pal!!

February 19, 2022 at 10:44 pm #232297I think we should petition them to look into the legalities of what Swann has done with our stadium and land and what are his future plans as it feels as if he is holding our Club to ransom. The Football Club is an essential part of our community and our town. I don’t see why we cannot organise petitions and get fans and townspeople to sign regarding saving our football club.

February 20, 2022 at 6:35 am #232306…it just takes good men to do nothing…….Iron Trust should arrange the petition – had significant growth – would generate a good few signatures, what the council can do I know not but at the minute the only thing is to watch a club die slowly.
February 20, 2022 at 9:56 am #232324Sunthorpe/North Lincs have never shown any support or interest in the club.
That’s why we are situated outside the town boundary, and the ground is known as Glanford Park after Glanford, the original parliamentary seat. (I refuse to use the stupid Swann name).
That was the Liebour-led council, mind. Maybe the Tories would offer more support, but I’d not hold my breath.2 users thanked author for this post.
February 20, 2022 at 11:44 am #232337Lol, aye, I bet UKIP would have been more supportive 🤣
February 20, 2022 at 12:02 pm #232343And Swannys Friend Rob Waltham is a Tory so we’re about cooked.

Change it?
February 20, 2022 at 12:14 pm #232348Waltham is from Brigg so likely to be a codhead, maybe there’s the problem between him and Swann.
February 20, 2022 at 12:38 pm #232357Waltham will be more prawn cocktail then cod I reckon.
February 20, 2022 at 12:47 pm #232361Waltham out manoeuvred Swann, who displayed remarkable naivety and ignorance of planning procedures. I believe his dealings with Blackpool planning department have not gone particularly smoothly..

February 20, 2022 at 12:48 pm #232363Nah deffo a cod once your past Broughton, and Donny the other side of Keadby bridge, we do do well though to get so many from Barton, we do have a very small catchment area though.
February 20, 2022 at 1:21 pm #232370The catchment area is big enough if there is a decent product on offer and not the garbage been served up now.
Absolutely no chance of the council taking over and buying the ground back.

February 20, 2022 at 1:38 pm #232376Yes maybe you’re right vader but doing nothing doesn’t seem an option to me. If we don’t ask the questions we get no answers. I’m sure Scunthorpe Borough Council and North Lincolshire Council value Scunthorpe United Football Club. If our Club folds that would be another nail in the coffin for Scunthorpe Town.
February 20, 2022 at 1:41 pm #232379Look at what Oldham fans have done, they showed just how much they value Oldham Athletic being members of the Football League. Surely the Iron Trust and Supporters Club should be giving a lead into what fans can do to help our situation.

February 20, 2022 at 1:43 pm #232380Scunthorpe Town may well be the name of the Phoenix club.
February 20, 2022 at 1:46 pm #232381Come on Iron trust get your bloody fingers out and get some form of survival plan going, or are you also also in that obnoxous mans pocket?

February 20, 2022 at 1:53 pm #232383Yes j Charles you are absolutely correct. We’ve paid £20 for lifelong family membership of the Iron Trust. I feel like asking for a refund. What are they actually doing to even
show they care about our club’s dire situation.2 users thanked author for this post.
February 20, 2022 at 2:08 pm #232386Could you enlighten us on what Oldham fans have done NL? And when you wake up from that dream you will realise that Scunthorpe borough council ceased to exist after 1996.

WTF has UKIP got to do with owt?
Have they ever held power here or in Scunthorpe?

February 20, 2022 at 3:43 pm #232396Still pining for non football eh alcy, well it should be back soon, unless……..
February 20, 2022 at 4:46 pm #232406North Lincolnshire Council exists and why can’t the Football Trust start a petition with fans, and Scunthorpe and other local people along the lines of “save our Scunthorpe United Football Club. Then this could be passed on to the Councils and let the press know this is happening. Oldham supporters let the owners know exactly how they felt about the way their Club was being run, via boycotting and demonstrations and this filtered into the local and national press. All we have had is one lockout at the entrance gates but that made the press. I am sure supporters need their voice to be heard and can make a difference to keeping our Club alive.

It was supposed to be back on 7th February, although to be fair no year was mentioned!
February 20, 2022 at 7:07 pm #232414Woke up then NLI, more of a nightmare than a dream I imagine?
February 20, 2022 at 8:14 pm #232419We have supported Scunthorpe United since 1958 through good and bad and our hearts are truly in Scunthorpe United. We have supported them home and away and so have our families. We’ve enjoyed and celebrated the good times and felt really down when the times have been bad. I’m sure there are lots more supporters the same as us. But I can tell you now Awaywego we have never felt so low and so angry and disillusioned in all of the last sixty odd years by what has happened to our Club and caused by this current chairman and his family. Now is the time for fans and supporters to pull together. I must say your sarcasm does not help one little bit and I have to ask is your heart really in Scunthorpe United.

February 20, 2022 at 8:24 pm #232420The Iron trust have started the ball rolling on this,if you’d bothered looking you’d see that they have applied for GP to become a community asset. This basically stops any change of use of the stadium for a 6 month period,in that period a suitor has to be found. Its basically all anyone can do in current laws
