They also have an U18 team.
Half funding for SUFC Academy next season.
Will we still be running an Academy?
Costs will need to be reduced:
1) Pay cuts?
2) Fewer staff?
3) Fewer teams – double age band them?
4) Use own facilities?
Or, pick up cast offs and just run an U18 team?
Or, just pick up youngsters on loan from higher up the pyramid?February 9, 2023 at 6:20 pm #255382And that is the owners problem how he wants to run the club, I think we have to leave those ideas to the people running the club and the management, remember we are not a league club anymore so there is going to be some trimming in certain areas, just be grateful we still have a club to support and it needs totally rebuilding whether we go down or not, but I expect if we go down there will be every effort to get us back to where we belong.

Mid table (6th to 12th) in NLN next season.
It looks as if we will be facing our FA Cup victors next season. South Shields are 8 points clear with 3 games in hand on the 2nd placed club.
They’ve just had a young un called up to England’s U18s.
I’m guessing that’ll be the U18 England Colleges team?https://www.southshieldsfc.co.uk/post/ssfc-academy-s-harvey-smith-called-up-by-england-schoolboys

Heres the current NLN table , my earlier prediction of Scunny winning it handsomely next season needs slight evaluation ,looking at it more closely its not gonna be a walk in the park and i may have been a tad over optimistic due to wearing my claret n blue beer goggles ….
A Top 7 is more realistic …..sad but true , thankfully safe from extinction just starting from scratch.

February 10, 2023 at 11:14 am #255403Point #1 many amateur clubs have teams from under 8s to adults there are two within 5 miles of my village. None of this is uncommon. Blyth Spartans take it so serious they’re up their own arses with it!
Point #2 The four former league club in NL(N) are, Kidderminster Harriers. Boston United, Southport & Bradford (Park Avenue). Hereford, Darlington, Chester & Scarborough are all Phoenix clubs. Although others such as Stockport County & York City have had spells there.
Point #3 Unless you win the league you have the complex system of the playoffs to negotiate. Far from easy.
Not going to be a walk in the park by any means!

Rember driving up to Southport in the mid seventies for a Friday night game, we drew 1-1 and Graham Collier scored for us, any old timers remember him?
February 11, 2023 at 4:17 am #255445Certainly do. A talented CM with all the necessary skills except he only had one speed – painfully slow.
February 11, 2023 at 9:18 am #255454Agreed les although when he put his laces through a ball it certainly shifted as I recall.
