In light of all the rumours, Facebook statements and general craziness surrounding Scunthorpe United can anyone point me in the direction of Swanns statement that he posted on here as I’d like to reread it if it is still available.

What we need now is a reply now from Swann regarding these latest posts from Hilton. I definitely don’t trust Hilton whatsoever. Surely Swann won’t want to be known as the past Chairman who destroyed SUFC and broke the hearts of our very loyal supporters.

What have you deduced from the statement?

I can’t see many people trusting Swann’s response, and I think the ship has sailed in Swann escaping blame in our plight. The question is how much will blame will Hilton take too?

As has been said many times before there is only ONE person to blame for the state of SUFC

Totally agree that one man is to blame for where we all are. However that doesn’t mean we are currently getting the truth from the new fella.

There was one person to blame for where we were last year. Now there are two.

Swann spent money that he and the club didn’t have and to offset the losses kindly signed over all our assets to his company. I don’t think he gives a toss how he comes across.

I’m no Swann supporter, but at least get your facts right

Swann transferred assets over to his company in return for writing off £11,000,000.

I accept that he, and his managers, were absolutely crap with the use of the money over a long period, but he could have let us keep the assets and the £11M debt. We would have been much worse off than we are now.

Swanns desperation to sell led to the appointment of Hilton so you could argue he is even more culpable both through lacking a watertight sale of the ground+ land and due dilegence of the new owner .

If you go down that route we should blame Wharton for selling out to Swann……

“The lease he issued himself does not constitute a security of tenure required by the National League or the FA. We have made this point very clear to the National League alongside many other ongoing major issues, however they have refused to work with us or even communicate with us properly to discuss these concerns.” PS.

Anyone know why the NL and FA might be uninterested in these matters?

On a Radio Humberside interview the EGO said we had gambled but failed.

That is factually incorrect – HE had gambled, we had no say in it. In fact no one had. So who sanctioned the spending season after season that then totaled into the debt of £11 Million – The Chairman had. Yet the club who had no so say in it has to repay its money to the person who spent it !!

It was a gamble, and a bad one. Far too many clubs are doing the same, with dubious owners and no Plan B.

Many of us were not complaining about money being spent in the first few years as we hope for success and promotion. Disaster struck when we failed.

As the owner, Swann could do what he liked, and he did. He even found a mug to buy the club, unfortunately it seems to be that it is another bad ‘un. We shall find out for certain very soon……

Presumably because the league tries to have rules in place to avoid clubs disappearing mid-season or moving grounds. The last few seasons in the National League have seen a couple of sides fail to complete the season and they would have been keen to avoid that happening again in our case. Of course, why the league would correspond with Swann at this stage is a different matter.
