Just come in seen the team still no Carlton, Butler and the owners must be seeing something else at games if they don’t believe we need strengthening must be a month now he’s been out and no action.
October 5, 2024 at 5:02 pm #291584If they didn’t think we needed stengthening before then hopefully this is a wake up call.
Conceding last minute to Oxford City at home is just not acceptable, poor management, wedded to a formation that history shows is hard
for the players and produces poor footballOctober 5, 2024 at 5:02 pm #291585Oh dear. Poor performance from the Iron. I don’t think we will be top of the league after the Chester game and it may be some time before we regain it! But it will be a different Scunthorpe side ( either in the way we play or personnel) when we do. Buttlerball has had its day!

October 5, 2024 at 5:04 pm #291586Interesting interview coming up..
October 5, 2024 at 5:07 pm #291587Not there today but too be honest I’ve not been convinced. Some kept stating when we play well someone is going to get a pasting.
Don’t think we are good at all.2 users thanked author for this post.

October 5, 2024 at 5:16 pm #291591Hands up if they would rather see a striker and a nasty midfielder instead of contract extensions so early in the tenure.

October 5, 2024 at 5:22 pm #291593Pitiful. It was too early to moan before a ball was kicked or after 2 or 3 games, but things have been souring for a while. The crucial thing was to learn from signs of weakness and improve, so that those instances would only be a blip.
Only it hasn’t and Butler and the team have seemingly learned nothing. Every game the midfielders get nullified, the wing backs stay pretty much rooted to the back, with little outlets up front. Without Roberts we’d be screwed.
The game management was abysmal. Every corner would have every man back to defend and we couldn’t escape. That’s not game management, that’s blind hope that we can hold on to a win. Against a team 23rd in the table.

October 5, 2024 at 5:26 pm #291594How to assess that?
How can you put a positive spin on it?
Here’s the last 4 game form table.4 users thanked author for this post.
October 5, 2024 at 5:32 pm #291596Thanks for that Rene. I think that form table says it all. I don’t think we are any where close to pasting anybody. If anything, we are due a pasting! Our next league opponents could well provide it! I have decided not to do any more “scouting” reports. Knowing our opponents weaknesses are useless if we cannot play to exploit them. Knowing our weaknesses and our opponents strengths just makes me depressed!

Executing contract extensions as if we are still an EFL club.
We are not.
At this level, 12 months is a long contract.
Many players change clubs 2 or 3 times a season.
Do we have a single player at the club whom is worthy of longer than a seasonal contract?
It doesn’t appear so.

That’s a shame!
You were doing a great job with them and I’m sure many people were really enjoying reading them.I appreciate that a lot of time and effort will have gone in to them. Bravo!
October 5, 2024 at 6:20 pm #291609Well what was that? I’ll have a go:-
Uninspiring
Pedestrian
Lethargic
Unchanging
Predictable
WastefulAnd don’t give me that “still top of the league” crap because you’ll have to find something else soon!

October 5, 2024 at 6:59 pm #291618The top of the league thing made sense when it was one below par performance. I don’t think it can be used now after repeated errors that should have been nipped in the bud a few weeks ago.

This would be funny if it wasn’t actually true.
Rene congrats on having the tactical nous to place the insurance bet, hope your winnings took the edge off another disappointing display from the Iron!
