Teams are sticking 2, 3 & 4 goals passed these.
You’d expect at least a 2-0 win to the Iron.
However, if we fail to beat them, then alarm bells should be ringing!2 users thanked author for this post.

September 28, 2024 at 10:28 pm #291336Surely a win… even if it’s another unconvincing performance.
The perfect game to take pressure off Butler but in all honesty anything other than a big and convincing win isn’t good enough.1 user thanked author for this post.

September 29, 2024 at 4:45 am #291338We’ve never ever lost to Oxford at Glanny park, best turnaround I’ve seen from us last time we played 3-0 down on 60 mins and we pull it back to draw, grandkids still say it’s the best home game they’ve ever seen.
Surely we can’t lose this one can we.September 29, 2024 at 8:16 am #291340September 29, 2024 at 8:33 am #291341Oxford City were relegated last season bottom of the National League 12 points adrift of the second from bottom, some 20 points from safety. They won only 8 games and conceded 94 goals. Little wonder then the bookies had them at 16/1 to bounce back at the first attempt this season.
Marine (a1-1)Darlington (h2-2) Curzon (a0-1) South Shields (h1-4) Kidderminster (a0-4) Chorley (h2-2). Their midweek game against Peterborough Sports{ since lost 3-1) and their weekend game against Leamington ( since lost 4-1)during the first week of September were postponed because they had 3 players called up to the Guyana international squad and one to the St Kitt’s! Rather perversely then, they sit second bottom of the NLN pile with one win at home against Needham Market (3-0)to their name.Oxford’s Goal Difference is minus 10! Last weekend they exited the FA Cup losing at home 2-3 to Gosport Borough, a team one level below in them the pyramid.
There is little to say apart from they started the season fairly reasonably, but more recently have looked woeful defensively and wasteful in front of goal. They have sacked their manager and a previously successful manager (Ross Jenkins) has returned. He was in charge for the FA Cup .we need to beware the “new manager” performance!
To me this is one when we will either fill our boots or be held to a very frustrating draw. If we don’t start at a high tempo and score early, I fear the latter!

September 29, 2024 at 10:22 am #291347Sleaford are where they normally are round mid-table, bit of a bumpy pitch at times which wouldn’t suit some of our ex League “Stars”.
Horncastle had a rough season in the Lincs league. Great club there though.
I see we are doing all sorts of offers for saturday, get a big crowd in and a result. thought that yesterday though!

Nah, doesn’t ring much since the old PIP thing finished. No mates you see.

Oxford 2-3 GosportSeptember 29, 2024 at 12:09 pm #291355I’d come and set up 4-2-3-1
4 defenders
2 screening midfielders
3 midfielders
1 forward
Hope to snatch a 1-0September 29, 2024 at 5:30 pm #291364I’d come and set up 4-2-3-1

Hope to snatch a 1-0Eerily similar team set up to your mate Jimmy Dean.
Certainly wouldn’t be panicking ripping up formations yet, but adjustments need to be made. Wing backs higher up and a new midfield pairing would be my suggestion; Scales/Clunan just aren’t cutting it for me at the minute and we’ve got 3 capable lads waiting to take that spot.

September 29, 2024 at 6:20 pm #291365If you mean Shrimpton, Rowley and Brogan I don’t think they’ve done enough when given a go so far.

No Cliff. If I was Oxford, I’d set up 4-2-3-1
Jimbob was never on my Christmas list.
October 4, 2024 at 8:40 am #291521Bookies see it as a home banker:
Iron 1/3
Draw 18/5
Hoops 13/2October 4, 2024 at 12:37 pm #291524Att 4,726
score 1-1October 4, 2024 at 1:29 pm #291527Bookies see it as a home banker:
Iron 1/3
Draw 18/5
Hoops 13/2That’s because bookies don’t read fans clubs forums then make their odds, that’s why there aren’t many poor bookies, it’s not rocket science, we are top they are second bottom 14 points behind.

4136October 5, 2024 at 10:41 am #291565WOW some crazy high scoring Iron wins on here .. weather must be nice , all taken happy pills or just had a roll in the hay with a fair maiden.
Cant see a Scunny win today..been playing poorly lately , Oxford new manager bounce so sticking with my 1-1 .. BTW which is a tad better than my first thoughts of a 2-1 win for visitors.
October 5, 2024 at 10:53 am #291566I can’t see anything but a comfortable win for the Iron. The new manager bounce is a myth, and Oxford City are a team that have made a habit of losing.
October 5, 2024 at 10:55 am #291568Regarding midfield I don’t think Rowley has had a chance whereas Shrimpton must improve if he wants to continue his career Brogan like Rowley needs a start and a few matches together
October 5, 2024 at 12:05 pm #291572October 5, 2024 at 12:12 pm #291573I agree with IFA, unless we score early doors, I can’t see us winning this one on our current form. If they can hold out the first half then they will hold out the second! 1-1 for me!
October 5, 2024 at 12:39 pm #291575Nothing else but a win with s god performance will do.
October 5, 2024 at 1:27 pm #291577No offence Rene, but I hope you’re ten quid poorer tonight!
