Does anybody know who is OOC this summer? Would be interesting to see who and how many ?
February 8, 2024 at 8:55 am #280634Job for Rene surely?

February 8, 2024 at 8:57 am #280635I think that contracted for next season are:-
Whitehall, Kelly, Fitzsimons, Kouogan, Roberts and Law.
I hope a few of the others can be retained on reduced terms, realistically how many will be in demand at a level above NL and NLN. A couple of the contracted players might be saleable and could possibly raise funds and be replaced by cheaper (and likely inferior) players.1 user thanked author for this post.
February 8, 2024 at 9:23 am #280636Realistically, I would expect any contracted players to be available for sale this summer, I can’t see how we will be able to avoid that.
February 8, 2024 at 9:46 am #280639But will any potential buyers be willing and able to match their current (apparently generous) wages bearing in mind the level they’re likely to be playing?

February 8, 2024 at 9:56 am #280641If I remember correctly at the Trust Meeting last night we were told i think it was 19 players out of contract at the end of the Season.

Who knows? But I can’t imagine that, say, Fitzsimons has harmed his market value this season.
February 8, 2024 at 12:38 pm #280654I am slightly fearful of who will be sourcing the dozen or so players needed for next season, assuming none are offered new deals. I read somewhere a suggestions of Butterfield as a player coach – I think that is something worth exploring. Wealth of experience and seems like a good egg.

Known Out of Contract are EVANS, BOYCE, BARROWS, DENTON, OGLE, BUTTERFIELD, PUGH, CLUNAN, BEESTIN, SCALES, WILSON, BENNETT.
Carver isn’t listed and there are several with that item of information missing.
February 8, 2024 at 1:11 pm #280657If she doesn’t let Jimmy decide, then we’re back to square one, Turnbulls still in the building and would be the obvious choice and we all saw what him and Swanny brought in.
February 8, 2024 at 1:29 pm #280658Turnbull has done OK in part, I think it went severely wrong when Swann junior and his agent buddy started buying players.
It’s a tricky one for next seasonFebruary 8, 2024 at 1:51 pm #280659Jimmy and Lee should have a decent knowledge of NLN players and their ability by the end of the season. That will surely be the pond we’re fishing in.
February 8, 2024 at 2:14 pm #280660They were all Jimmy’s picks this season, When Lee got into bed with Swanny and Hill theirs were hopeless. The Cygnet had left by then.
February 8, 2024 at 2:24 pm #280661The Management duo are also out of contract at the end of this season.
As regards future recruitment the person appointed manager for 2024/2025 should be involved.
February 8, 2024 at 2:49 pm #280662Butt, But, Butt, But, Butt, But?
February 8, 2024 at 3:22 pm #280664You make a good choice Tash, two butt buts are better than one unless they make an ass of it.
February 8, 2024 at 3:30 pm #280667Nick Butt? Would please a large contingent of Iron fans i suppose.

Getting like the Cult page this is.
February 8, 2024 at 4:51 pm #280674Of course I forgot about Dean’s contract ending. There’ll be a shedloads of work to be done in close season. I don’t expect Dean should be part of that.

Not so sure IA .. im predicting if Scunny dont get promoted either auto or loosing in the playoffs JD might be offered another 1 year deal by the board .. getting into the playoffs during such turbulent times may be seen as some sort of success also Dean may be the cheaper option rather than actually finding a new gaffa ..and of course he knows this level inside out.
Can see most of this squad leaving come the summer regardless if we go up or stay down. Its afact if it is the NL next season playing as we are currently it will be sort lived getting mullered every week and low attendances.
Too many Iron fans think we are better than waht we actually are ..which at the moment for whatever reason is pretty dire and im still of the opinion some thing behind the scenes is causing the dip in form and player confidence as they look shit scared every time they take to the pitch.2 users thanked author for this post.

A lot of the players we have or have had throughout the season are higher level so I think that notion is justified. Though within the context of extraordinary off field issues I find it a little difficult to judge how the season might have been different. I suspect it wouldn’t have been much different. There may well be a new Tamworth in the league next season amd I don’t see them being led by Dean. Just my opinion.
February 9, 2024 at 8:25 am #280701Already revealed a playing budget has been decided. As to who spends it we will have to wait as the board have many decisions to make as they continue dealing with a debt mountain, although it sounds like a huge amount has been dealt with that could remove the transfer embargo.
Any managerial appointment must have the ability to rebuild the playing side for the long term future while 100% focused on the league the 1st team are in.
February 9, 2024 at 9:02 am #280704Got to get it right / assume the budget is based on a number of season ticket sales and average attendances (probably 2.500-3,000) but if we keep serving up the dross that we’ve seen in the past few matches then the following season it’ll be 1,500 avg. which is still good for this pub league but our overheads will be a lot higher. If we fail to get promoted (and we need to play a lot better to stand a chance of going up through the playoffs) then I’d want somebody with a bit more footballing experience (as in league football) and that could be Butler – but do you give him total free reign for player selection? Or do you stick with Dean for another crack at promotion? If we’re looking at sustainability and long term then Dean isn’t the answer for me. But these are tough decisions ahead of us

February 9, 2024 at 12:59 pm #280708You wouldn’t have noticed that Keith Hill had league experience, square pegs round holes.
February 9, 2024 at 2:26 pm #280709On recent performances does anybody think the players are backing the manager ? Either he is giving them the wrong tactical information or the players are’nt taking any notice. I suspect the latter

We were above 2500 whilst at an all time low.
February 9, 2024 at 8:45 pm #280723I’m expecting Denton to be move on. Will the club want to fund both Michael Kelly and Denton ?. I suspect Kelly may be on fair wedge so Denton may move on with Kelly as 1st choice and then get a cheaper back up to him.
The amount of player budget cuts will obviously hinge on whether we go up or not.
February 9, 2024 at 9:02 pm #280728A smaller squad is very possible
February 9, 2024 at 10:21 pm #280731A smaller squad is very possible
I don’t think so much a smaller squad, just players on more realistic wages. Evans, Kelly, Boyce and Whitehall will be on a fair wedges as they were signed from high end National League sides.
I suspect some of those will have to go. Evans and Boyce will probably end up going both out of contract and seen as Evans featured in the national league team of season for Eastleigh, he wouldn’t have come cheap.
February 10, 2024 at 2:28 am #280738100% focused on the league the 1st team are in.
Sadly, all we have remaining is the pyramidion.
