Pre match in here folks
March 11, 2021 at 11:17 pm #203390We should be on for a win against a very poor Leyton team, and of caurse we have five of our best players well rested up after Cox sacrificed the points against Exeter. So I will go for a 2-0 win, even though we didn’t manage one bloody shot on target during Tuesdays match in the full 97 mins.
Then again we do not know what the team selection will be!!!!!!!!, anything can happen with Cox in charge.
March 12, 2021 at 9:17 am #203395Orient due a win against us, not won at home against us since 2002, obviously we’re one of their bogie sides but all runs come to an end sometime, rather it be this year seen as though we won’t be there. 3-0 home win.
March 12, 2021 at 7:27 pm #203435All depends how ‘clever’ our master tactician wants to be !!
March 12, 2021 at 8:56 pm #203443Comfortable 2-0 win for us.
March 12, 2021 at 9:38 pm #203444Keadby have you ever forecast a defeat, we may win if you do.
March 12, 2021 at 11:57 pm #203446Leyton is an away game I love to go to, I normally drive to an hotel about half a mile from their ground on a Friday afternoon, book into the hotel, have a few beers and stay till lunch on the Saturday, after a good breakfast, attend the game, nd as awaywego says Scunny always get a good result at Keyton, then a drive back to complete the weekend, it’s a very nice ground as well, but no trip this season.
I think that aswell as tactics being used Sanfran, team selection will play a big part, but I don’t know what to expect with this manager, I think that he uses the old half time drum draw to select the team, by putting the whole squad into it and see who comes out.
March 13, 2021 at 9:25 am #203450Slightly unfair barton I think. I agree Cox is far from perfect at the moment (I hope he does get better as we need the stability) and some of his tactical decisions are certainly questionable. However, when us Bru experts pick a team we don’t have the inside knowledge that Cox has regarding fitness which is bound to affect selection.

I’m forever the optimist.

March 13, 2021 at 11:34 am #203454Wonder if we’ll see Kenan Dünnwald-Turan today? If Loft doesn’t make it of course.

March 13, 2021 at 11:45 am #203455Not if Scunny Bunny is fit!
March 13, 2021 at 12:51 pm #203457Looks like a diamond shape with Hallam playing at the 10 behind Loft and KVV.
March 13, 2021 at 12:55 pm #203458Another motely team put out today, and we will probably be set up to try and contain a very poor team that we are playing.
So Spence was MOM a couple of games ago, then he was dropped and managed 15 min as sub, this week he is bench warming along with O’Malley who is our lest left back.
Never mind, there isn’t anything to play for this season, but it would encourage supporters to buy next seasons season tickets if we adapted the system of selecting our best team each week, instead of this bloody rotation system, so as to give most of the too heavey squad a game. I cannot really see us losing at Leyton, because they are really piss poor, but fans still want our team to put on a bit of a show, and following last weeks home game when we necer had even one shot on target during the 97 mins of play, and just a reminder, it was a HOME MATCH!!!!!
March 13, 2021 at 2:57 pm #203464Covid’s silver lining.
The only good thing about that game is I only wasted a few quid and 2 hours of my life.
Normal times I would have wasted the whole day and a £100 or so travelling down there for it.
March 13, 2021 at 3:00 pm #203467The whole feel of the game changed for the better when Spence came on, today.
March 13, 2021 at 3:07 pm #203472March 13, 2021 at 3:15 pm #203474Annoying familiar habit of sitting back after starting brightly and scoring early, then a free header in the box from 4 yards out is scored by them, so bloody frustrating. Then the tactical sub, then the change of shape and we should have won it and with better refereeing we would. If we start with the second shape and Spence on we win the game end of. Think the manager got the first half wrong today but an away point is still a good result in the grand scheme of things. Must win Tuesday night now and start with the proper shaped team please Mr Cox.

March 13, 2021 at 3:27 pm #203476Not sure what Hallam does in training but in games he’s shown absolutely nothing to be worthy of a starting spot, especially with Lewis “The Engine” Spence sat on the bench. Glad he was taken off when he was.
Ref crap today. How he didn’t award a penalty or send someone off I’ll never know.
We were pretty crap too. Showed a very poor Orient far too much respect, especially in the first half. Every time they had the ball it was immediately 10 men behind the ball applying zero pressure allowing Orient to pretty do what they wanted. Second half was better but overall it was boring to watch…again.
March 13, 2021 at 3:29 pm #203477Another boring 90 mins and another waste of £10, furst half we just put players back in our half and gave it the big boot, the second half we competed with a poor team and the game petered out, and was a 1-1 draw result with 30 mins to go. A few nice free kicks from Kev should have resulted in a win, but no one ever got a grip on the game like they wanted to win it, once again the Ref was first class.
HOWARD–5–Didn’t have a save to make, their goal was when he watched a cross into his box while their guy ran ten yards and nodded it in, again no goal area control.
BROWN—5—Made a few errors, but got through the game.
BEDEAU–6—Defended ok, but should have scored from one of Kevs free kicks.
CLARKE—6—Did ok, and over lapped a few times.
KARACAN—8—Stood out in our team, MOM in a poor squad.
ROWE—5—Nothing really outstanding, but should get more match time.
GILLIEAD–6–Very quiet 1st half, but played very well 2nd half.
BEESTIN—6—Hot andcold, but did not go forward enough, probably Cox system??
HALLAM—4—Did not notice him playing, should have played Spence.
KVV—7—Ran his legs off, and took some good free kicks, playe too deep.
LOFT—7—Good first 15 mins, bad luck with that header, but no feed to him.REF—9—Very good ref.
COX—5—Very defesive first half, 35-65% posession against a poor team, Scunny supporters are in for a very thin and boring period with this management team. The League 2 is of very poor standard this season, and we are watching unentertaining, boring and defensive football, and it is very difficult seeing any future changes to the management playing system. his rsting of the five key players on Tuesday bit him in the arse with only getting the 1 point today.
March 13, 2021 at 3:41 pm #203479I am a bit shocked by two or three comments regarding the ref, I thoughthe had a good game, and what penaltyare people talking about?
March 13, 2021 at 3:50 pm #203480I didn’t think any of the penalty shouts were penalties. Kev’s was the main one but I think he slipped. I did think he was fouled just outside the area not long after though.
Not sure about the red not sure how the rules are now. Wasn’t the last man but you could definitely make the argument Gillead would’ve scored if not fouled so denying a clear goal scoring opportunity? Is that a red now?
Didn’t think the ref was great overall though. Loft was getting assaulted for a lot of the first half and getting nothing.
Spence should be starting no excuses and we should’ve won that. They did their best to gift us a goal in the 2nd half with some awful defending.
Thought we saw the start of a decent partnership between Loft and Kev today good from both.
Bedeau had to score from Kev’s free kick in the 2nd half.
March 13, 2021 at 4:09 pm #203482The one on Kev was a pen for me, so too the one on Spence. Yes Spence was clearly looking for it but anywhere else on the pitch it’s a foul and we’ve had more than one of those given against us this season.
If Gilliead wasn’t brought down he was 1-on-1 with an out-rushing keeper. No chance the covering defender on the far side would have gotten anywhere near him…clear goal scoring opportunity…red card.
March 13, 2021 at 6:08 pm #203484REF—9—Very good ref.
???????
March 13, 2021 at 6:33 pm #203486Yes, tend to agree NI. No problems with the pens, I think he got them right. One certain red missed and possibly another for the sub who did b* all but foul after he came on. Is it Loft’s size that means he can’t possibly be being fouled, does well to keep his temper in check IMO.
March 13, 2021 at 7:40 pm #203487There is definitely contact made with KVV. It may have been accidental but the player made no genuine attempt to play the ball. That should have been a penalty and a red card.
Denying a clear goalscoring opportunity is also a red card and you could certainly make a case that Gilly was clean through.
I did think he reffed it quite well overall, but went missing for a ten minute spell where he nearly lost control of it and all the key decisions went against us.
March 13, 2021 at 7:52 pm #203489Cox with his usual post-match bluster…”they’re a good team and passed the ball well.” No Neil, they’re piss poor and had scored a whopping 3 goals in 10 matches before today’s game. Why do we act like we’re up against Barcelona every week!?

Maybe need to see the Kev one again. It was his reaction for me. When he was fouled outside the area threw his arms up and was shouting. For the “penalty” he looked more disappointed in himself.
If the rule is denying a clear goal scoring opportunity is a red card the one on Gillead should’ve been a red.
If he gives a penalty for the Kev one is that still a red? Isn’t there some bullshit “double punishment” rule where if it’s a pen it’s not a sending off?

I like Cox and I’m still on his side but that is wearing very thin. Reminds me of Nige and his whole “little old Scunthorpe, in the championship, how fantastic!” It is nige yeah but it’d be nice to get a few points as well. Used to drive me mad.
March 13, 2021 at 9:31 pm #203494I believe if the player makes an attempt to go for the ball in the area it can only be a yellow, even if he denies a goalscoring opportunity… but if he doesn’t make an attempt to play the ball there can be double punishment and a red.

Whatthe hell is there to like about the man, he reminds me of Wilcox, but the difference being is that we were promoted with Wilcox, there is no chance wit this guy, his whole defensive atitude spoils any chance of us gaining anything but the exit gates at GP, we have been spared that this season, but who is going to turn up next year to watch paint dry.
We have another home game against another shite team in Oldham, what will be the assessment of Oldham by our brains trust management team.[/quote
