    Which are you?

What does the future hold for SUFC?

    1. None. Snorkeling upside down through the brown stuff left by Swann

    2. Champions League in 5 years

    1. Swann puts his ego to one side and continues to find the club until a suitable buyer is found. Keith has a stormer in the transfer market, the young lads come good and we finish top half. The pies are plentiful , the iron bar is over staffed with pints poured to perfection, the stewards decide they are only paid £20 a game so what’s the point in harassing fans and the club actually release a statement that doesn’t end up pissing half the fan base off.

    2. Liquidation

    3. Recruitment continues to be a shambles. We limp on with players refusing to play/ bad attitudes etc and young lads getting thrown to the wolves. Bills get missed and we eventually enter admin with a points deduction. Relegation to the National league North.

I have never seen such a mess that our club is in! We now know how Bury and Macclesfield supporters felt and I fear we are heading in the same direction, we need a new owner ASAP.

If this doesn’t happen then we are really are in the mire and looking at not being a club at all next season, Keep saying this but things really do look very pleak and I fear for us.

It is a total shambles from the very top right down the very bottom with the only bright spot being the progress of the younger players in the academy, but this could be just that these are the only players that are available.

If we do manage to enter a team in the national league next season then we need a lot of experience with a keeper, two centre halves, left and right back cover, three midfielders and two strikers needed it is a massive ask even for a team with cash to spare let alone one with no cash to speak of.

So the next two months are the most important two months in the clubs history get it wrong and we are doomed get it right and we might just start to see a glimmer of hope. UTI.

A REALIST here predicting further doom n gloom .. the club will do well to avoid admin or liquidation and survive only AT BEST as a mid table also ran in the NL…or god forbid drop even lower

Very sad but a true an accurate reflection of how i see things panning out if no new rich enthused owner is found.

Provided all the promises made by a certain party are kept – and why wouldn’t they be? – everything will be hunky dory.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a rich owner, clubs can be self sustainable as Exeter and Accrington have proved, it does need somebody with enthusiasm though I agree, we do have stay away supporters out there that can be enticed back but the club has to become part of the community again with open weekends, players and coaches getting involved with community projects, visiting schools and grassroots clubs and the stadium used for other things on non matchdays.

The Stadium does need serious investment however as it’s been seriously neglected under Swanns regime.

    Fully agree Pat.

I’d add to that it’s not just about the money (although that helps) it’s about getting the right players and the right manager/coaches.

This has been discussed on other threads. Suffice to say recruitment HAS to be right. I doubt very much if this can be done by Will Swann and a handful of footballers’ agents!

And in that respect I’m a pessimist!

Well I haven’t been to an open weekend for at least 5 years so it can’t have been advertised very well, and when was the last time the stadium was used for anything other than football and bonfire night?

Prefer Bowie’s album to your interpretation les regarding the Irons future but I admire your ironic take on things.

Pat there’s been an open air cinema, circus, park and ride for NHS workers, limitless Lego, walking football, visits to schools and hospital at xmas, footy course’s every school holiday, the stadium is used most days for educational purposes, look up Study United or Scunthorpe United community sports and educational trust, and see the work they do for the community, even this coming Saturday there’s a remembrance for fans and players who have past away this last year, which as been well received by Hartlepool fans saying what a nice touch and hope their club take it on board. And all probably with no involvement from Swanny so let’s not deride all the things we do get right just to beat Swanny over the head.

I can concur that there has most definitely been a circus there.

Usually on a Saturday afternoon or Tuesday night.

Add to that list a Fans forum on the 5th of May, everyone with anything to say can attend as Swanny won’t be there.

Until the Head of Recruitment changes changes I’ll very much remain a pessimist. Even if we all of a sudden had money to burn do you really have any confidence the current incumbent of that role would put together a decent squad of footballers!?

You only have to look at Everton and Man United to see that you can spend all the money in the world but if your recruitment is pants then you’re going to struggle. Our recruitment since Alexander left has been absolutely shocking!

I haven’t derided the things we get right, I’m deriding the things we get wrong. Many of the things listed above are nothing to do with the club and do nothing to entice old fans back or new fans in. The open weekends used to be a great way of doing this and still could be if organised and advertised properly, a great pre-season opportunity to launch new replica kits and associated training wear, season ticket offers. Which players do these hospital visits? I haven’t seen or heard of these in a long time?

You said the club had to be part of the community Pat and I have listed where they have been, the list of the players who did the last hospital visit are on the official club web page click on news and then select community and all will be revealed, the last open day was June 2019 let me think why there hasn’t been one since you don’t think it was that little thing called COVID do you Pat? You are Avery lazy poster Pat do your research first it’s not hard. Could you also list which were nothing to do with the club (remember Pat do your research first)

A mid summer liquidation wouldn’t be a surprise.
