It’ll be great watching Tories on here pretend it was right to have tax cuts while it is right to stop them.
We’ll see, 64. It’s impossible to forecast what’s going to happen in today’s world with any level of confidence because there are so many things happening over which a government has little or no control. However, if the UK’s going to have any chance of generating the revenue needed to cover the increasing costs of an ageing population and an increasingly unhealthy one then growth is the only way to achieve it.
It’s highly likely these tax cuts will stimulate growth and at that point you’ll probably be changing your tune. Polls can move both ways so I woudn’t be counting any chickens just yet.
When it comes to counting the Chancellor can’t seem to get his sums right from one week to the next, we certainly shall see.
Personally I disagree that these tax cuts will bring the growth they desire, but there is no point going into it, because I will be misrepresented and patronised to death.
Polls can change, but only if the Tories can regain trust, which is hard to do. Sticking fingers in the ears and hoping in vain is unlikely to do it. Labour won’t be complacent, but they’re not going to go into despair because of hypothetical turn arounds based on nothing. I am sceptical Truss is good enough to turn it around. She’s weak on presenting herself as a strong leader, for one, and I don’t know how she reverses that perception.

This government couldn’t control a pet hamster!
Watch out ahead! A big blue car doing a U-turn.
How very odd, no mention of ‘magic money trees’, or ‘our grandchildren will be paying this debt off’ from the usual suspect. Imagine the howls of protest from him if Labour had borrowed (to invest in infrastructure and job creation) just a fraction of what the Tories had. Hey ho, same as it ever was.
