What’s happened to the young fella? Last season a shining light in a depressing year for the club, the next Iron player to rise up through the divisions. Now apparently second choice LB and justified on performances so far. Are his feet being kept on the ground or are there other issues? Let’s get the real Mason back asap.

That question you need to ask someone else CT – from what I hear he is fine and following instructions.

Personally, and this is probably an unpopular opinion, I’ve never understood what the fuss has been about over him. He’s terribly slow on the turn going back towards his own goal and got caught out multiple times last season. Always seems to take too long on the ball and either gets caught in possession or immediately looks to go backwards. He has a decent set piece delivery but that’s about it.

Thompson seems the better option going on the 3 games I’ve watched this season. Was surprised he didn’t start last night given he was probably my MOTM vs Rochdale.

Defensively, I thought he was pretty suspect last season but he offered something useful going forward.

It seems clear to me that, given the effort require to play wingback, Cox is going to use O’Malley & Thompson interchangeably this season, which makes a lot of sense.

I see him ending up as a wide left player. He’s the best crosser we’ve had in a while.
Green or Mason? – No brainer. And you’d probably get a bit of extra defensive cover when under the cosh.

I hope Cox doesn’t see that Les! Any excuse to get another defender on.

If he’s any use, gone next season, to star somewhere else.

    It’s the Iron way.

We used to “not stand in the lad’s way”, after discovering a talent.

Now we stifle talent and get rid asap.

It was reported, on arrival, that Thompson could also play LMid. Could be worth a try with O’Malley & Thompson in together but hard to see that if Cox persists with 3 CBs. Will he go 4-4-2 at home though, we’ll see on Saturday.

Will be tough without the 2 to go up front!

Did I see somewhere a suggestion O’Neil might be back and of course Mystery Loan Man must be arriving soon.

If he is the fellow from QPR then we can have another Loan Ranger!
