Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce defender Mason O’Malley has signed a new contract, extending his stay with the Iron until June 2023

More good news after Beestin’s extension, well done Mr Chairman but don’t stop at two.

Good news indeed. Stating the obvious here but a really good crosser of the ball which is a rarity for us.

Good news and very well done to the young man.

Can we have him back in the first 11 please Mr Cox and don’t rest him again until Brown is fit.

I’d offer Jai Rowe an extended deal as well, he’s talented enough to warrant it. About time the club started doing this.

Glad to see this as O’Malley is one of about 10 players in the squad that are up to league standard, I do not know what contract Rowe is on, but he wants also signing for a lengthy period.

Remember watching mason very early on playing for the u23s I said then that he was a very good prospect and one that would make it out of the 8/9 they had.
Charlie barks is another one I think could become a very good player at centre back along with Finley shrimpton in midfield.

Yes Mason accepted the challenge from day 1 and will only get better.

In all honesty I think Charlie Barks should be on the bench these days. Before Finn I would give opportunities to Pugh and Hornshaw. The latter 2 are certainly better prospects than Taylor and they are ours ! But now seem almost forgotten, yet those continually selected seem not that keen to show they actually want the shirt – whereas Hornshaw, Pugh and Shrimpton would thrive on the chance of playing regularly in their own positions.
