    Great away win.
I so hope I’m wrong and lose my £10.

But on a serious note, how can a certain unnamed player be slated by one and all over the last half dozen games, and then turn in a mom performance today?

Maybe because he’s a div 2 striker, and if he played like that every game he wouldn’t have been here has long. Same goes for the rest of them. I think most will agree that Loft shouldn’t be our main striker but there should be a place for him within the squad.

Or maybe he’s putting himself in the shop window.

Possibly because his agent has told him that all interested clubs have moved on to other targets after his recent performances? Need this from him every week especially as Jarvis was invisible.
Missing Perry, Scrimshaw, Beestin & Thompson this was far from our strongest match day squad IMO so well done boys, more of the same please.

“how can a certain unnamed player be slated by one and all over the last half dozen games, and then turn in a mom performance today?”

    Motivation for whatever reason?

And playing as a striker in a team with more attacking intent is a lot easier than standing alone upfront chasing hopeless long balls from the back.

Loft’s career to date is 1 goal in 5 games. Let’s hope that Hill can get some players out and bring in 1 or 2 other strikers to continue the improvement over the last few games.

    To Ryan Loft.

I was one of many who said we wanted shot of you. Sorry Geeze, keep playing like you did for 45 minutes today. 2 goals and 1 assist.

    UTBI

I have said many times on here that Loft is the better player between him and Jarvis and on ability would have been the one “providing he can be bothered” to get the goals.

Certain people on here “not mentioning any names” were coming out with “rather have Jarvis..Loft’s useless”

Do you still feel the same way after that 45minute display ?

I have said before that Loft has more ability in his left ball sack than Jarvis does in his whole body, if and this is a big if, he can actually be bothered from here on in, he’ll be the one to get the goals.

Bunn makes a difference as well as that more creative link upfront. If we get another couple of strikers, A creative midfielder and maybe another CB..we’ll be alright.

Keeping Bunn fit could well be the difference between league 2 and the Bananarama League

Bunn up there as the link man with a Loft that can actually be bothered could give teams a lot of problems at this level.

WonderGoals—-Loft had a really good second half today, but you must admit that in most matches Jarvis has been the better player between the pair of them. I think that we all saw today that Loft actually put in a lot of effort into his game, where as he has not been doing so, why do you think that he has not been selected by Keith Hill reacently???, this manager will soon suss out players that are not giving much effort, I hope this is the start that continues in the coming games. This compares with McAtee of last season, he really was a good player, but only when he wanted to be, on other occasions he didn’t give a toss.

1st half, lacked tempo and intensity which worried me given the ‘six pointer’ nature of the game but 2nd half was actually enjoyable, a more positive outlook to press higher up the pitch and looked to play some decent stuff at times. Bunn and Hippolyte impressive with their work rate and glimpses of quality in possession – once we got our house in order thought Oldham looked distinctly average and rarely troubled, fully expect some more hiccups on the way but signs of hope under Hill. Back it up with 4 points from the Northampton and Carlisle games, then let Hill (not Swann jr) do some business in January and who knows???

I’m not disputing the fact Jarvis has been better, I’m talking about actual ability. Loft is miles ahead. I was stating this face countless times and was being ridiculed.

Jarvis is a hard worker and scored an Alan Shearer type header but he’s pretty crap.

If Bunn stays fit and we play more front foot football, Loft may actually come good after all. Bit raw but no doubting that he has the ability there.

You hit the nail on the head re Loft / Jarvis but it will take more than just a 45 minute solid performance to win me over ..Loft has to produce more regularly and look like he actually is interested in playing for SUFC or not ..playing to get away to pastures new perhaps ???
Hill certainly has managed to get more out of the same group re fitness levels positions certain players are now playing and ability … Hippolyte being the prime example.
Great win ,,i feared the worst after i saw us go i nowt down early but credit where credit is due the guys turned it round and well done .. out of the bottom 2 which in its self puts pressure on others around us ..more so makes the Carlisle fixture huge…and as previously said things will be a whole lot cleaer come mid January
For now enjoy the festive gift of a long awaited win ..lets hope it boosts confidence and we can push on from this result.

I also hope that Loft takes this performance and plays consistently at a level above what we have seen in recent times and improves his goals to games ratio.

I don’t expect Hill to rely on this alone. I hope that he can somehow bring in a couple more strikers, assuming that he can offload some of the no hopers!

Time for Swann to show he really wants to keep the club in the football league by backing Hill and correcting his mistakes by clearing them out so that others can come in.

No need to reply Alcy, I know what your response will be. We will find out soon enough anyway by the decisions Swann makes in the next few weeks.

Cannot see Swann clearing the EFL loan and backing Hill with a competitive budget whilst we are still a third down on crowds.

Stand to be corrected, but I’m sure he mentioned during the season ticket holders meeting we were expected to lose a £1million this year.

A home game on the back of a good away win may have enticed a few back.

But we’ll have to wait until NYD now!

Yep if the Carlisle game calls foul of covid it will be a real bummer, we need to capitalise on the Oldham win particularly against an opponent we can catch and pass in the league with our improved recent form.

Bunn against Oldham is exactly what we’ve been missing. Looked a cut above this level, if he can stay fit, he could quite easily be that clever, creative link up man we’ve been looking for.

If we can get O’neil, Turan , Jessop and Jarvis out on loan and get 2 new strikers in to compete with Bunn, Loft and Scrimshaw we’ll be a lot better for it.

Another surprise was Green at RB. If somebody was to tell me Green would play RB and play as well as he did, I thought you were insane.

Tell you what though, he definitely offers a threat down that side. It can’t be good for Millen though, he could have played but went for Green ahead of him.

Rowe’s looking good as well in that defensive midfield role. Hill’s playing people out of position but they all seem to pay off.

Green will never be a FB, I think Oldham missed a great opportunity by not playing on his lack of defensive knowhow. He looked good going forward but needs the confidence to do it more often and with a better end product.

I agree. At RB it might free him up to use his pace more often as the pressure won’t be on him to be one of the main creators.

Hill must have seen something in him to play there. That came completely out of the blue seeing him at RB.

I prefer Rowe in DCM to Pugh and Kenyon too. I think he’s bedded in well there. Pacey, mobile and with him being a RB who’s decent defensively, he has enough positional sense to break attacks up.

To think back Cox wanted him to solely be a CB and had Pugh as a perm RB. Utter madness.
