Would there be a problem if Chelsea was just taken from its owner by the Government then the first billion pound bid from a British billionaire who is checked as suitable to be a football club owner is accepted? The money would then be passed by the Government to Ukraine to help it’s people and help towards repelling Putin’s forces. Sounds a bit ” gangsterjsh ” but it isn’t that quite appropriate seeing as it’s a Russian and Russia we are talking about?

March 11, 2022 at 4:47 pm #233320Linked doesn’t mean they have killed anybody, also has the Newcastle owners personally killed anybody
Khasoggi
March 11, 2022 at 5:34 pm #233322The fans always end up paying the price, unfair yes, but there has to be punishments one could argue that all the Russian teams are being treated unfairly, but morally we know these punishments are right, the same goes for all teams abusing the rules in our leagues. At least Chelsea fans have lived the dream even if it was on the back of stolen money from the Russian people.
March 11, 2022 at 7:36 pm #233325So the actual owners of Newcastle murdered that man personally.

See comments above,Mick. The Saudi Regime own the company that bought the Toon. It is totally autocratic and ruthless. Few totalitarians do the torturing, the shooting, the poisoning and the ‘disappearing’ in person. They just ensure that it happens to order. The problem for me is that the test for ‘fit and proper’ ownership is antiquated. It is all centred on finance and ensuring that Clubs are owned by people who won’t lead them into administration etc As with all things Premier League.. it’s all about dosh. The moral dimension .. though harder to define… should be front and centre. My stance : ‘If you have no sense of justice, have cashed in and even caused human suffering ..then stay away from our sport. Find your pleasure and your status someplace else. Not here.’

March 11, 2022 at 8:35 pm #233327I know what goes off in the Middle East countries but it doesn’t mean every individual either does it or orders it, same as Abramovich just because he is a friend of Putin it doesn’t mean he agrees with the war or he has ordered anyone to be shot but who knows, a girl who lives near me lived in Dubai for 2 years working for Emirates Airlines as a Air Hostess until Covid cost her her job, she said it is a beautiful place but the people are horrible.
March 12, 2022 at 5:17 am #233330only if it was Man United, that would be funny
Nah but it would be hilarious if it was Liverpoo.

Why is murder the only means of barring someone from ownership?
The fact is that Abramovich is highly linked with a regime committing war crimes and invading a nation. It doesn’t matter if he agrees, he has personally profited from it and we’re targeting those close to the regime to put pressure on them due to the special circumstances. Chelsea and Abramovich were happy to take the money and benefits from such a regime when the times were good; it seems a bit rich for them to complain when the consequences are brought down on them.

I have no interest in Liverpool so I couldn’t care less
March 12, 2022 at 11:50 am #233373You’ve no interest in man u either Mick but you do seem to have a beef with them, why?
March 12, 2022 at 12:16 pm #233374I’ve never liked them from being a kid, I’ve only ever seen them play twice live once at Scunthorpe the other at Sheffield Wednesday and they got hammered that day.
March 12, 2022 at 12:19 pm #233375And actually I don’t support any Premier teams but like watching Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs but I am not a supporter of any of them.
March 12, 2022 at 1:51 pm #233378Man U became the darlings of the media after the awful Munich tragedy but it became an obsession when Liverpool were mopping up nearly every trophy in the seventies and eighties but the Mancs still received mega back page coverage in the press despite being bang average for most of that period. I think footy fans in general just got pissed off with the media fawning over Man U for no apparent reason other then them being one of the biggest club sides in world football based on past achievements and not current ones of the day.

March 12, 2022 at 1:57 pm #233379Fair do’s mick as simple as that, we all nail our colours to the mast on many things.Me especially.
March 12, 2022 at 2:22 pm #233381But in them days man u were renowned footballing side unlike the Leeds, one nil to the arsenal, and liverpool, not saying anything wrong with that and they have the trophy to show for it, may be that’s why had the media coverage you say they had, I would totally agree with you at the moment if man u are in the fa cup there on the tele and they are not the footballing side that Liverpool are today.

March 13, 2022 at 12:21 am #233428If I was a lifelong Toon fan I couldn’t continue supporting the club under that regime. Would you awaywego?

March 13, 2022 at 12:09 pm #233457Certainly not Deerey, wouldn’t want the Russian’s, Chinese, Turk’s and any middle Eastern country as owners, wouldn’t visit any of them country’s either. Even though I’m sure most of the population are decent people it’s just the regime.
March 13, 2022 at 12:33 pm #233461I don’t know why Abramovich was ever accepted as a football league chairman. Everybody knew his money was dodgy from the start.
They said he had ripped off the Russian people when he took control and ownership of a massive Russian oil company.
I think it’s time to reopen a few of Aberdeen’s oil rigs.

Our new Turd ermmm Turk hasn’t put a foot wrong so far, still he didn’t have much to beat to be an improvement on the previous two turds. We’ve visited Turkey three of times, nice welcoming people but oddly never got to meet any the regime. That said whoever the owners were I’d still turn up, support the team not the regime. 🙂

March 15, 2022 at 4:02 pm #233577Now there asking for their FA cup match at Middlesbrough to be played behind closed doors, cheeky bastards, don’t know who’s doing the asking though, Remember us been robbed of a chance to go in 88 when away fans were banned from going for their first 5 home games, because Chelsea fans caused trouble when they got relegated in the previous seaso, would have been a great night for the fans taking a 4-1 lead there eventually winning through 6-3 on aggregate, don’t remember them playing behind closed doors, what a really strange ban that was, punished everyone else but Chelsea. Kick em out of everything.

He’s by no means the only one of Putin’s associates to have moved his money to Britain, in particular London. Our government seemed quite happy with this situation for many years.
