There’s more than one NI.
June 18, 2023 at 6:07 am #264596Please dont tag me as a Liverpool fan … in fact i can categorically state my only club is SCUNTHORPE UNITED .. i do not give a rats arse about any other and only quickly skim over the scores after the checking Iron have got on.
Personally i just dislike Everton more than most other clubs (except Grimesby)
I do not even watch any local / Asean football fixtures live or on the telly.. its a joke , match fixing , Refs paid off outrageous decisions and games played on sub standard surfaces, open ended grounds and water logged pitches in monsoon season makes it like a summer away day at Blunderdel Park …. a carry on comedy flik.

July 1, 2023 at 10:25 am #265181I fancy a flutter .. 50 quid double , not easy to get it on from here ,can anyone assist n if the odds are decent will get it on via a VPN or my daughter.
Scunny promoted back to NL
Codheads relegated to NL (as yet light on signings and i reckon they will struggle this coming season)Thanks in advance
July 1, 2023 at 10:46 am #265183apologies i meant assist in finding the odds not paying the 50 quid
July 1, 2023 at 11:44 am #265184Still can’t find any NLN odds out there. Might appear when the fixtures are announced next week.
You can get 10 to 1 on Cods for relegation.
July 1, 2023 at 11:48 am #265186Nothing yet, I would assume as soon as the fixtures come out there might be some or when the flurry of signings that happen after the 1st of July when players are out of contract and free to sign for anyone.
You never know, the way we’re going signing players and with Messi being free the odds may change.
July 1, 2023 at 9:55 pm #265206Ironfromafar, I can not really give an opinion on your chances of promotion as I have absolutely no knowledge of the NLN. I just thought I’d try and save you some money!
Your comment about lack of signings puzzles me. We had a very short close season last year due to the play offs and missed out on most of our targets. However this season like yourselves we have got most of our signings done before training starts and even paid fees for several of them. I can’t remember the last time this happened instead of last minute signings that no one else wants.
We’ve kept the nucleus of the squad that finished 11th and reached the quarter finals of the FA cup together and released the fringe players. We’ve signed Rekeil Pyke (Shrewsbury), Donovan Wilson (Sutton) , Abo Eisa (needs no introduction) on frees and Harvey Rodgers (Accrington) , Danny Rose (Stevenage) ,Toby Mularkey (Rochdale) and Charles Vernam (Lincoln) for undisclosed fees with the promise of more to come.
Our club is now very well run . With the windfall from the fa cup run we have money to spend for the first time in 20 years, although this certainly won’t be spent frivolously by the new owners.
Most of us cod’s are the most optimistic we’ve been since Fenty took over. We’re certainly looking up not down.
Although it may pain you, a better bet would be an outside chance for a top 7 finish for us.
Your signings have impressed me so far , but I’d be more than a little concerned where dodgy Dave is getting the money from if I was you. Seems a little Swann like throwing money you don’t have at promotion or bust.
Good luck for the new season a club like yours doesn’t deserve what’s happened to it.
UTM , UTIJuly 1, 2023 at 10:09 pm #265208Good luck Capt C, I’m sure Grimsby won’t be near the league 2 trap door.
The reality for us is that the bookmakers won’t really be interested in NLN, as for the FA cup we’ve got to qualify for the first round….
The Mariners did well to escape the National League without throwing an insane amount of money at it which I fear, if we survive at all, Scunthorpe will have to do.July 1, 2023 at 10:13 pm #265210Captain Cod … through gritted teeth I have to say that your post is fair enough. I suspect that your trajectory is more up than down in the next few seasons. As for us ..we live in hope. Just glad to have been born 30 miles west of Grimsby.
July 1, 2023 at 10:16 pm #265211Nobody cares, captain cod. You know your club better than we do so don’t take any of it to heart. Apart from that I think he was winding you up anyway.
We have our own club to worry about.
Why would any of us give a toss what your upcoming chances are for next season ?
July 1, 2023 at 11:05 pm #265213Probably not WG, I don’t take it to heart , there’s nothing wrong with a bit of banter amongst rivals. I just don’t understand the hatred from a small proportion of both sets of fans.
I’ve spent a lot of time working in Scunny and have friends who are scunny fans so have always read the bru and kept up on your affairs. I see us as very similar clubs and Towns . We’ve spent 7 years in non league and I wouldn’t wish it upon any team .
Although I’d be happy to see you match that due to all the flak we got from you lot , but I didn’t want you to get relegated again and definitely don’t want you to go out of business.
You say we don’t care about each other , but nearly 250 pages about Scunny on the Fishy would suggest otherwise !
Can I ask what’s with the town top on a Scunny forum ? That’s the official Nike kit from around 2005 I believe , where you once on our books?
Both of our clubs have had our dark days , I’m hoping to see us both in the sun again in the not too distant future.
Wouldn’t it be good to have the local Derby at championship level where we’ve both been ? Highly unlikely given the money in the game nowadays but you have to believe!July 2, 2023 at 2:20 am #265220Ironfromafar, I can not really give an opinion on your chances of promotion as I have absolutely no knowledge of the NLN. UTM , UTIThanks for the concise reply CC, i take on board your comments.
i hold no real hatred for the Cods and admit to reading the fishy which for the most part re Scunny has seen hundreds of fair n balanced comments many of which i agree with (obviously mixed in with a few funny piss taking ones) im still of the opinion my wager is worth a punt IF the combined double odds are ok ..so yes im predicting a tough season for youz lot leading us to once again have that local derby many love so much.

No wind up WGs (would i do that to our much loved friends from down the road),my friendly fifty quid flutter is a real prediction.
At least it has revived and rekindled some football chatter to Bru instead of all the he said she said snide nasty conjecture filled comments all to common in recent weeks.
July 2, 2023 at 9:43 am #265243Just had a click on the fishy Scunny thread and at the mo its all gone a a tad wonky with our black n White brothers warbling on how superior they are to us, i would like to take this opportunity to state the bleedin obvious that at the current time Scunny n the Cods are indeed 2 leagues apart ..BUT IN REALITY when the first ball is kicked in anger next month we should not forget potentially we are just the course of ONE full season away from being together again…so surely all this talk about them momentarily being superior needs putting into prospective.
So in the words of the late great Vera Lyn who herself was a staunch Iron fan so my old man said lets keep smiling through and we will meet again some Scunny day .. and it could quite possibly be just one season away!!!!
July 2, 2023 at 9:47 am #265245It won’t be one season away.
July 2, 2023 at 9:49 am #265247We may draw them in the cup! :-)
July 2, 2023 at 9:50 am #265248It won’t be one season away.

I agree, I personally don’t think it’ll ever happen.
July 2, 2023 at 10:00 am #265252Warbling Cod’s eh, the mind boggles 🐟🎸

Ha ha, nah, 3 seasons at least. Can’t see them going down. I’d predict 12th for them this season. By rights we should go straight up, next season I’d hope for 10th in NL followed by promotion season after. That’s the best I can imagine. I didon’think it will happen mind.
July 14, 2023 at 6:09 pm #2666345/2 fav to win national league north – William Hill.
July 14, 2023 at 6:24 pm #266636With no ground and an unproven team, wow the bookies have had a drink or two there 🍻🤪
