Steve Torpey was criticised often on these pages.
Scunny fans seldom give credit to traditional CFs.
Okay – Nuttall is no Torps but rather an inexperienced forward with potential.
    The guy needs maximum support.
What’s more, IMHO, he’s a good notch and a half better than Loft.
Too many good CFs have been all too glad to leave GP and fans’ attitudes have often played no small part in that.

Looked impressive on the highlights yesterday- should’ve had a goal or 2

On a side note Oldham nearly pulled in a 10k gate vs Wrexham, surely they will have the budget to tempt him to move?

That is an impressive gate Cliff, just shows what a change of owner and I presume attitude to the way a club is marketed and funded can do. I mean Oldham aren’t exactly tearing up any trees yet in our division but a gate of nearly 10k is brilliant.

And upset all their existing players, sounds like a recipe for disaster, but they know that already.

2,500 Wrexham fans but impressive none the less for a team nearly as bad as us.

Loft scored a 92nd minute equaliser for the Gasheads yesterday.

No good us getting a last minute winner, 2 cleared off the line because 5 in nearly 10 years shows we are jinxed

Oldham have put together an impressive management team which would have cost a fair amount and only have experience at youth level so a bit of a risk. It’s clear they’ve got a strategy to invest in young and hungry players.

Gates would have been far better over the seasons if The EGO had engaged with the supporters. As opposed to ignoring them as often as possible.

Hence the second line of my post Sanfran, just shows what is achievable if a fan base is properly included and opinions listened to.

    From NL News:-

“Iron striker Joe Nuttall is set to stay at the club for the immediate future having turned down a move to National League club Oldham Athletic.
It is understood a six figure fee was agreed between the two clubs for Nuttall, who is out of contract at the end of this season however the two parties could not agree personal terms.”

New contract here or waiting for a league club in January?

Probably agent greed scuppered it this time, but he’ll be off in January to a league club IF he continues scoring. So a significant risk for Joe and his agent. I’ll bet Mr. and Mrs. S. are livid though at £100k slipping through their fingers.

My thoughts too. Can’t blame him really as he’s not getting back into the league with Oldham anytime soon.

Still, respect to him for turning down a better financial deal to remain with us for the time being. It is a risk.

    £500,000 is also 6 figures.

I like Nuttall, given more service and not having to come deep so often, and he would, I’m sure, be a right handful up top.

We need a proper DMC and another CB, so that our more creative players can spend more time in our opponents half. Then we would see Nuttall and Lavery turn into a formidable pair up top..

He had a great 1st half very unlucky not to score from open play, surely we will get a win from one of his goals soon he certainly deserves it.

Nuttall is improving every game but i can’t help but feel that if he had passed to Apter in the first half and not been greedy we would have won today as that would have put us 4-1 up

End of the day a lucky point for us, Daws in his interview spoke about what would be coming from them in the second half and yet failed to do anything about it why? Telling them to weather the storm, well that worked well, why not tell them play the game in the oppositions half its the best form of defense.

Spot on, teams win games, and if he’d not done what he did the whole second half, turn round into the defender and give them the ball, we might have put the game to bed.

Great first half, poor second but that sums up the whole team not just him. I think he’s turning into a proper asset up top based on his excellent first half.
