    Thoughts on Nuttall?

Personally think with a nippy little striker playing off him could be a good player for us this season if fully fit?

Owes us after his spat last season?

I’m still undecided about whether he needs a nippy partner or a target man alongside him. Doesn’t yet win enough in the air to convince me that’s his best role. According to the text commentary he seemed to be putting plenty of effort in and chasing a lost cause got him a goal. Plenty to prove but looks as if he’s going to give it a good go.

If we are relying on him to shoot us to mid table obscurity then heaven help us ! 8 goals a season man tops.

Does some really sterling work actually if anybody is watching, unfortunately its in the channels attacking or defending throw-ins.

Can’t remember Cammy, Greeny, Killer, Flopper, Sharpy or Hoops doing any of that, no they preferred to play down the centre. Just imagine how many more goals they might not have scored if they did!!!!!!!

But where should a striker play IronKing???

I want mine in and around the box ready to score.

It’s the one position where tracking back is not really high on my agenda

Scored a good goal at the weekend. Persistence and commitment. Took it well.
The other goal. Excellent take down and finish. There first goal is one of the worst bloomers you will ever see. Total lack of concentration. If that’s our new keeper from Sheffield, then no thanks.
Be surprised if he is not sent home early
    This week.

Centre-spot to penalty spot, don’t want them in the channels or back for corners, want them working both centre-halves with most of their work done in both the 6 and 18 yard boxes where the ball should be put.

Goals are mainly scored from inside the boxes so don’t see the point of strikers chasing the channels. That’s for midfielders, wingers or full backs.

Shearer was a box player hence the number of goals he scored.

From what little I saw of him last season a bit more movement of his own would help Nuttall. In that Hartlepool home game, Wilson worked hard & earned himself a fine goal. Nuttall failed to make runs to help team mates and ended up giving the terrace the finger. He looks like he has something to offer but I would not be rushing to build a team around him.

For gods sake Hill, go and get the ex cods keeper McKeown. He is on a free, and needs a wage and he wants to play games. We should get him within our budget. Its a no brainer.

I’m sure that’s a senior moment les! Not John O’Shea surely, he’s no goalie.

Didn’t one of our Codling friends on here suggest McKeown was a good shot stopper but didn’t command his box or come for corners. If so have we not had our fill of that type of keeper in recent times?

Most of the defenders are used to playing with a line hugger (I think it’s what Mussy coaches) They’ll be completely baffled if we get a keeper that takes command of his box. We can hope.

That’s why he was mostly first choice in the 10 years he was there according to my cod mate he commanded his box well. To me it is still a no brainer.

Sounds like a modern day Tommy Evans. That bloke used to give you at least 2 minor heart attacks per game. Every time a good corner got whipped in and players were competing I had to the need to throw a hail Mary and cross my fingers.

If he’s anything like him, I’m not sure my heart would take it.

8 goals from 69 league games since the 2015-16 season.

The most he’s scored in a season is TWO goals… that’s a season and NOT in a game!

If you are happy with a present on Boxing Day and one on Easter Monday – then he’ll suffice.

    However, I like a striker with a 1 in the 3, at worst a 1 in 4 ratio.

I want a striker who can frequently bag a brace and maybe a hat trick or two over the season.

Two of such strikers and promotion (for any club) is a probability.

So much depends on how often we attack; how quickly the ball goes forward; how many times the ball goes into opposition box and what quality of ball is delivered.
Last season only Feeney made any contribution at all to that sort of play. The others seemed only capable of lumping it forward.
You are right, of course, Renee about the brace of forwards needed.
I wonder where they will come from?

    Bracebridge?

They’d have to be crazy to come to us!
