December 1, 2022 at 5:57 pm #249683Agree.
December 1, 2022 at 6:10 pm #249685Agreed, but no-one really cares tonight
December 1, 2022 at 6:11 pm #249686Who gives a shit, you don’t rebuild a club first game out particularly against possibly the best team in our league but the atmosphere will have changed and there is hope again for the Iron long term once this deal is officially done.

December 2, 2022 at 10:04 am #249756The old theory of the ‘new manager bounce’ has passed. The new one is the ‘new owners with more than a shred of responsibility, dignity and business sense bounce’ which takes more time to work than the former, but is worth the wait.

Let’s hope the new owner bounce kicks in sooner than later !December 3, 2022 at 3:02 pm #249858Don’t expect any miracles soon. Make no mistake, this an absolutely woeful team and it’s not about getting 2/3 players to make things better.
Mass clearout required unfortunately, every position needs strengthening.
Pure comedy whoever decided to play ogle left back by the way. Set him up for a fail there.

December 4, 2022 at 1:17 am #249911Nelson certainly needs binning off after that today, which was arguably tactically worse than Daws. O’Malley is fit so why not play him ?
I would have gone O’Malley LB, Ogle RB and played Rowe in CB instead of the inexperienced Ethan Young. I didn’t get that at all today, made no sense whatsoever and made a hard game even harder.
Why not just play players where their supposed to be played ?

December 4, 2022 at 6:58 am #249915Add Nelsons name to the last half a dozen SUFC managers who were tactically clueless… who was the last decent manager we had ..Hurst maybe ??
Hope the new owners have some one lined up as this fella has to go n quick.
December 4, 2022 at 8:50 am #249919The final two months of Hurst’s reign was the last time we shaped like a football team.
December 4, 2022 at 9:02 am #249920I thought if you were playing a decent side who liked to pass the ball you got in their faces, closed them down and got tackles in, we just backed off and let them walk through us or pass through us!

December 4, 2022 at 9:12 am #249921No tas. You hand them the middle of the field and stand off them in your “shape”. So says the FA coaching manual.
It occasionally works at international and Champions League level. Never seen it work at our level. Was Cox’s go to tactic and Hill tried it sometimes as well.
December 4, 2022 at 10:10 am #249923In fairness to Nelson, he was shouting across to the centre backs to push out more when they had possession in midfield, they just blatantly ignored it and proceeded to defend on the edge of their six yard box. Boyce couldn’t control the line either.
We were sat so deep it just allowed Notts all the time in the world to pick their shots off, they didn’t even need to get out of 2nd gear despite being a good side.
Desperately need 2 centre backs and a keeper in, even if we don’t stay up it will at least allow us to be competitive again because at the moment it’s impossible to get anything from a game when we concede so many.
December 4, 2022 at 11:30 am #249924Thought it was crying out for a change of formation at half time, for me we needed an extra body in midfield to help Beestin & Butterfield. Pugh on for Young would have sorted that.
Would have been good to hear the reason why O’Malley was benched. Ogle was caught out all over the place in the 1st half.
Carver is potentially our worst ever signing, some achievement!
December 4, 2022 at 2:13 pm #249939I was going to call a search party for our midfield, but couldn’t decide if they were missing or the back four were too scared to come out and help. As for the forwards, hardly a tackle all game .
It was crying out for someone to tackle someone arou8nd the neck a few times and get us up for it but,not a challenge of note all game, were they really fighting for their futures?
Not sure what any manger could do with that lot, ther’re scared and hiding away for 90 minutes1 user thanked author for this post.
December 4, 2022 at 4:53 pm #249952My first visit to Fortress Glanford for nigh on ten years, very disappointing. The gulf in class between the teams was frightening!
December 5, 2022 at 6:28 am #249978There was so much wrong with Saturday it’s difficult to know where to start really….
Dewhurst, very poor, no urgency with goal kicks when we are getting beat (which is most of the time). In the second half he tried unsuccessfully to stop the ball going out for a corner and in his frustration threw the ball towards the corner flag, allowing a quick corner to be taken while he was still off the pitch!!! Also gets beat far to often from distance.
Jai Rowe, he was awful and should never be played as a full back again.
Midfield, did we have one??? Alfie was trying his best but can’t do it all on his own.
Nobody closing down or pressing to get the ball back, defend from the front yet our “forwards” allowed County to pass the ball around at the back at will.
No urgency, no passion and no fight.
We will go down again this season.
