According to their manager on their website he reckons this is the toughest game they’ve have in a long while. He says he has seen videos of our previous games and says we only lost games at key moments and therefore this game will be no walkover.
I think we are in for a hammeringFebruary 22, 2022 at 3:58 pm #232580It’s clear their manager has been taking something!
I predict us taking a 4-0 hammering, but would love to be wrong.1 user thanked author for this post.

February 22, 2022 at 6:14 pm #232616I’ve never had a bet against Scunny, but the 10/11 is really tempting me tonight. An opportunity to almost double my money in 90 minutes seems an opportunity not to let pass
February 22, 2022 at 6:36 pm #232619Go on do it f row crew, might as well get something out of this pathetic season.
February 22, 2022 at 10:19 pm #232633Thoughts:
Tonight was the best performance in how long?Sinclair showed that in the right setup, he can be pretty decent.
Everyone put a shift in – and although Nuttall didn’t win all that many in the air – he made the CBs work their gonads off. With a dozen hard games under his belt – he may be a real find. That break of his down the inside right channel showed pace and strength.
I hadn’t expected to be able to offer praise to the lad – but tonight I saw enough to see that Hill has brought in some real potential. Looks two notches up from Jarvis.Millen looks worth a contract. Getting better with each game.
Not too many threats on their goal but it’s starting to take shape. Maybe we can be a bit of a force in the NL with half a dozen more Hill signings.

You never see a poor bookie frc!
February 22, 2022 at 10:24 pm #232636But Les, we needed to win today, but we never really had a threat of scoring a goal, and both keepers had nothing to do really, how can you really see many plusses Les from a home 0-0 draw????

February 22, 2022 at 10:27 pm #232637Great performance everyone played well and with Northampton now second in the league we were as good if not better tonight.Thompson badly injured on his game back now out for the rest of the season according to Keith Hill
February 22, 2022 at 10:58 pm #232641Real encouraging performance, Grant and Delaney the standouts for me although everyone put a shift in. Took Nuttall an age to get going, he didn’t win a header till the second half but I agree with les he become more of a threat the longer the game went on, just wish he would be more aggressive in a physical sense because he looks a proper unit. If only Feeneys excellent ball across the box first half had got a touch, it was a delivery worthy of a goal. Excellent clearance by Millen second half when Manny got caught out of position , it would have been an undeserved winner for them because I believe we bossed the majority of that game an certainly looked more of a threat. An excellent point and thoroughly deserved.

February 22, 2022 at 11:01 pm #232642It was the HOW we played, BS. So many positives against a good side.
It is improbable that we’ll avoid the drop – need to look ahead.
Goals are always going to be a major issue.1 user thanked author for this post.
February 22, 2022 at 11:08 pm #232644Aye scoring goals is still the main issue but then it’s nothing new is it but at least the level of performance was much better tonight, which is promising.
February 22, 2022 at 11:47 pm #232645110% better than Saturday, to me I think if we give it a good go even if we fail it will still be better than losing every game, like Les says Millen is starting to look a decent player, felt sorry for Thompson because he was having his best game and was impressed with the whole defence tonight, we attacked plenty but their defenders played really well, a lot of positives tonight after that second half crap on Saturday.
February 23, 2022 at 5:44 am #2326462 goals in 14 hours of football tells the tale. We can look at the positives (Sinclair was really good tonight) but we have no goalscoring threat. The players who put a shift in are either on loan or have 6 month contracts thanks to the wonderful embargo.

February 23, 2022 at 7:17 am #232647I agree with Les, relegation is a certainty, we all know that so all that is left is to look for positives for next season. Personally I hope Hill stays and has a crack at the conference, now is the time to be making decisions on who we want to come with us for the fight to get back in the league.
February 23, 2022 at 9:01 am #232651Nope.
It’ll end up as a fight NOT to drop any further.
Mark my words.
With an uninterested owner and a low budget we’re in for the same again next season wherever we are.1 user thanked author for this post.
February 23, 2022 at 9:07 am #232653The fact that last night was considered a good performance and an improvement tells you everything about how far we’ve fallen. We were rubbish, never looked like scoring and had to rely on the crossbar and two crucial Millen blocks to save us a point.

February 23, 2022 at 9:29 am #232657Most entertaining game I’ve seen for a while.
We gave the ball away less.
Never looked like scoring.
Delaney – immense, Millen – excellent.
Missed Nuttall winning a header (never got off the ground) and his burst of pace, are you sure it was him?
Still don’t think Rowe & Grant can work in CM.February 23, 2022 at 9:32 am #232659We could have played until midnight and we wouldn’t have scored, and therein lies our problem.
I came up with my son in law, who is an NT supporter, and he was surprised at how much better we were than when we played at Sixfields.
There is definitely some improvement going on, but we really need a couple of goalscorers.
Sinclair had a good game but my MOTM was Millen – solid all round.

February 23, 2022 at 9:39 am #232663How come their player didn’t walk after his two footed lunge in front of us Mick ?? How many booked for them ?? UTWI

I thought that was borderline – quite low and Thompson got up quickly which maybe helped. I don’t think they could have complained if it had been a red though.
Northampton definitely one of the dirtier sides I’ve seen this season, so many fouls, they deserved all their bookings.

February 23, 2022 at 9:45 am #232665Barrie I was expecting our player getting sent off just like Pugh for being in the way, anyway players don’t see red against us, well over 100 games now since the Blackpool player got a red against us in the Mickey Mouse Trophy 2 years last November.
February 23, 2022 at 9:55 am #232668also last night there was a few glimpses that Nuttall was improving and looked a bit fitter.

February 23, 2022 at 12:12 pm #232676Didn’t look a foul to me on Thompson just a good solid challenge, no real player protest either, they know when it’s a bad challenge or a solid one. Idiot in the East Stand shouting his mouth off for about five minutes non stop ranting and raving and being abusive about it all. He’s entitled to his opinion as I am mine, mate if your reading this your a pratt. Go away and study the game a bit more.

Do you mean the one where Thompson was carried off or the one at the end of the first half in front of the dugouts?

Remember when we used to complain that Gary Hooper missed too many 1-on-1’s!? Now I literally can’t remember the last time we’ve created a 1-on-1 opportunity, let alone score from it!

Still don’t think Rowe & Grant can work in CM.I think you’re right Nuttall is still waiting for clearance from humberside airport so he can take off and win a header.
I said in a previous thread we brought strikers in but did we bring in a goalscorer? I guess the answer is no after watching that marvellous ball across goal go begging in the first half.February 23, 2022 at 1:10 pm #232681I don’t want to burst anyones bubble, but reality is a bitch. The best performance in a long long time, and everyone started to show what they are made of…..
BUT it was a nil nil draw at home. It doesn’t matter who the opposition is, we have to give their goalkeeper something to do.
I do rate Kieth Hill, and I think he has built what could become a decent team on a threadbare shoestring, meaning for nothing. We might go down but if KH stays we may well come straight back up.
What we need in the closed season is for Swanny to put his hand in his pocket. Give Kieth the backing to prove his point, he doesn’t need millions or even hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Show some metal, Mr Chairman……
