Having read Hiltons statement in the NL Newspaper what are the thoughts on his statement “It is an asset of community value. I want it to be bought by the football club not me personally. He (Swann) won’t carry out the process to enable that.” The part which doesn’t ring true to me is “not me personally”. I assumed rightly or wrongly that Hilton had agreed to purchase, he also owns the club. He must know that our Iron Trust does not have the funds.in my opinion it is a dangerous game Hilton is playing with our beloved Scunthorpe United FC.
July 25, 2023 at 4:02 pm #267508He’s showed he doesn’t want the ground already with the 1899 scheme, as fans we shouldn’t want anyone to own the ground other than the fans/iron trust or the council at worst, It was/is a good idea but was to rushed and to dear just needs a re think and am sure it could be successful.
July 25, 2023 at 4:33 pm #267512I don’t and never have trusted Swann.
I don’t and never have trusted Hilton.
In my opinion Hilton came to Scunthorpe for one purpose only and that was to make a quick profit.Unfortunately it didn’t work out like that and he’s dug himself deeper and deeper spending money he doesn’t have so has resorted to a wannabe spiv.
It’s all going to end in tears.July 25, 2023 at 5:00 pm #267514Has anyone ever made a quick profit on a football club?

July 25, 2023 at 5:19 pm #267522If Hilton had paid Swann’s price for land and stadium and sold every 1899 club membership he would still be out by a 7 figure sum.
You have made your point you don’t like Hilton but at least try and justify it with facts instead of bullshit.

Agreed a price of £3 million, tried to raise 1899x£1899 = £3,606,201.
Wher is the 7 figure shortfall?…… IdiotJuly 25, 2023 at 5:28 pm #267526Your good at maths but very negative

Maybe Hilton should have been clearer if he was expecting fans or fan groups to make the ground purchase. I am pretty sure everyone thought he was planning on sorting this out with his own money when he bought the club and has said that he is the saviour.

July 25, 2023 at 5:43 pm #267532Not to mention the revenue trade off created by 1899 “free” season tickets. My estimate is £600-£700k but feel free to correct me if my maths is incorrect.

July 25, 2023 at 6:38 pm #267545Not that good
July 25, 2023 at 10:54 pm #267554Even considering the 1899 scheme, I fail to see how he came in for a quick profit. The tax bill and wages alone will have put him 7 figures in the red with no hope of recouping that back.
Additionally, He has openly said his pockets aren’t deep for a football club owner, that’s no secret.
Perhaps he underestimated the job/debts when he purchased the club. After all, something deterred Elliot’s consortium after their bid was initially accepted.

While we’re not mentioning things. Not to mention wasn’t the original 1899 plan to sell off and redevelop everything except the actual stadium ?
July 26, 2023 at 1:27 pm #267596Correct on the understanding that it was the tenants responsibility to maintain and develop at no cost to the membership.
