January 13, 2022 at 1:36 pm #221493Nothing, Hill said that their targets have gone elsewhere but they are still trying

January 13, 2022 at 1:44 pm #221494We’re gonna be left with the dregs that nobody wants and won’t actually strengthen the team. If you haven’t already, I would pop to the bookmaker and get a tidy sum on our relegation. We might as well make as profit from this mess.

January 13, 2022 at 1:45 pm #221495That is a comment/question you would never expect to be made about Scunthorpe United.
We used to have a scouting system in Ireland and Scotland they are also long gone. Change the ownership and the gate would be boosted by more than 1000 immediately.

January 13, 2022 at 2:07 pm #221505Hill says, ” if and when we get the opportunity to improve the squad with better players we will do it “. Big IF.
January 13, 2022 at 2:09 pm #221506We used to pick up the odd Spaniard too!
January 13, 2022 at 2:30 pm #221512A normal Spaniard will suffice providing he can play.
January 13, 2022 at 2:50 pm #221515It’s not a huge surprise is it? No money & bottom 2, not the most attractive of packages!

January 13, 2022 at 2:50 pm #221516Careful – we tried that with a German that convinced the manager that he could play!!
January 13, 2022 at 3:19 pm #221523Just had a look at completed transfers (BBC Sport) and if, as suspected, we can’t pay a fee for players the only two lost possibilities for our needs seem to be McPake (Tranmere) and Agard (Donny) and both look better bets than us. Loan signings seem to be kids which is probably not what Hill wants. No money and few prospects isn’t a very attractive proposition. Now if we were paying BIG money with the promise of ambition and a brand new stadium to play in then…………….
January 13, 2022 at 3:23 pm #221524Now what did we always used to say? Oh, I remember, “We tried, but the lad didn’t want to come”.😳😥

Stevenage, one of our only hopes of catching to avoid the clutches of relegation, have signed Ed Upson, Michael Bostwick and Luke O’Neill on frees or on loan…all experienced league campaigners. I would take all three! Guessing we’re much more in need of a Striker/CB though.
January 13, 2022 at 8:22 pm #221562I saw the Hill interview in which he stated, due to his past experience it’s better/easier to pick up players right at the end of the window.
In other words you should expect to see players come in who are left, who basically nobody else wanted = The left overs.
By the end of month we’ll probably already be down. No Scrimshaw or Loft so we’re left upfront with Jarvis, an untried Blackburn youth player and an untried youth player in Jessop who played earlier in the season and looked miles off it.
Big bad Turan I won’t even mention as he’s most likely not even deemed good enough to even train with the first team squad, wouldn’t surprise me if he isn’t the designated club boot scraper.
Swann is royally taking the fecking piss. I’ve said this before, but, why not try Beestin up top with Burns ?
I know he’s said himself that he see’s himself more of a striker and we know he can finish.
This is where we are folks..in shit creek and definitely without a paddle.
You can tell Swann doesn’t give two shits, if he had any pride in his role as chairman, The club or the fans, he wouldn’t allow this to happen.
January 13, 2022 at 8:45 pm #221563WATCH: @SUFCOfficial boss Keith Hill tells @mikewhitesport they've already missed out on a number of transfer targets this month.
Hill doesn't expect to have any new faces in ahead of Saturday's trip to Exeter.https://t.co/EZe5LH3cEp#uti #Iron pic.twitter.com/rnXDjE1gcg

January 13, 2022 at 11:55 pm #221575Cant really blame any player wanting to come to Scunny in their current position and probably aware of just what a wanker Swan is.
Even the players previously affiliated with Hill seem wary jumping aboard a sinking ship that taking in watter weekly and will be sunk well before h the end of the season comes around at this rate.2 users thanked author for this post.
January 14, 2022 at 12:11 am #221576Anyone want to bet on finishing the transfer window with more out goings than in comings?
So far it’s in – Burns
Out – Wilson, Billson, Scrimshaw and Loft!
minus 3 and counting!

January 14, 2022 at 12:27 am #221577i missed that ..where has Wilson gone ??
i have this recurring dream of Hill ringing round all his contacts in the game asking .. have you got any players … any …any will do.
YEP .. real possibility more out than in
January 14, 2022 at 12:47 am #221579Wilson’s gone on loan to Scarborough Athletic. I know at one point he had scouts watching him, he must have a questionable attitude when it comes to training or something because he has a lot of natural ability.
Clearly not rated here, never had a look in despite a promising pre season. Bit of a strange one where he’s concerned.
January 14, 2022 at 9:53 am #221591I saw the Hill interview in which he stated, due to his past experience it’s better/easier to pick up players right at the end of the window.
In other words you should expect to see players come in who are left, who basically nobody else wanted = The left overs. As you say WG there are huge problems with this approach. Apart from just having the dregs left there is a strong possibility that, during January, we will become less attractive week by week resulting in being significantly adrift by the end. We could also end up with players here for entirely the wrong reason from the Club’s viewpoint – “not bothered about playing for Scunny but it’s all I could get”. Dangerous but what else can Hill do without the chairmans help?

January 14, 2022 at 7:50 pm #221648That’s the kind of natural ability he’s always had, which is all the more confusing when we’re so low on numbers and especially attacking quality.
No doubt certain fans will scoff at the level but it still takes confidence and composure to show that attacking intent/flair…something we really lack.
I still don’t know why no managers seem to not want to bother with him. Only think I can think of is a potentially questionable attitude because other than that, can’t see why he doesn’t play.
I hope Hill doesn’t go fully in the working like a trojan direction and doesn’t fail to acknowledge they actually need to be able to play football a bit as well.
Perry has been fit for weeks but can’t seem to get a look in now. I get defensively he’s a bit lax at times but I thought he looked best when he played in the no 10 role which freed him up for his passing ability, but as I said above he’s been forgotten about.

January 15, 2022 at 10:06 am #221672You haee to wonder why we get so many players who end up with a question le attitude. I could have a good guess.

January 15, 2022 at 10:15 am #221674Nobody wants to come.
I seem to remember Mick Buxton using that excuse.
I thought it was maybe because of his lack of popularity.2 users thanked author for this post.
January 15, 2022 at 11:50 am #221685Does anybody have any evidence to suggest Wilson has a poor attitude?
3 users thanked author for this post.
January 15, 2022 at 12:14 pm #221686Of course there’s no evidence but it’s never mattered before, why let the truth get in the way.
January 15, 2022 at 1:01 pm #221688Disregarding Wilson, its difficult to dispute that there have been plenty others who appear to have shown an indifferent attitude on the field, especially when they have wanted to get away.

January 15, 2022 at 1:47 pm #221691Does anybody have any evidence to suggest Wilson has a poor attitude?
If it’s not that, why is he overlooked to the extent of being unable to get near the first team and now loaned to Scarborough?
I’m not saying I believe it, but do you know different?January 15, 2022 at 2:34 pm #221697So that’s 2 now questioning Wilsons poor attitude, I take my last post back it must be true.
January 15, 2022 at 2:43 pm #221699I thought he had been out injured
