Well, at least not at U12s this season.
Then it’ll be all ages below U12 in 2023-24
Then it’ll be up to U16s.
And at some point in the imminent future, they’ll be no heading from U18s down.
By World Cup 2038 – headers will be like dinosaurs, things of the past.
I’m going to make a long range prediction and say that headers in the professional game will be a yellow card offence in the season following the 2030 World Cup Final. [China 3-1 USA aet]
From 2030-31:
if you deliberately head the ball, you’ll receive a yellow card.
Two headers and the player receives a green head injury card and has to be substituted for the rest of the game.
Well if it helps stop dementia,Yawn Yawn,
Perhaps they could halve the weight of the ball instead.
Maybe a switch to balloons could be on the cards.
It would then be real fun watching it float away on windy matchdays.
Specialised foam helmets to be worn at corners if ball goes over shoulder height during play a player will be allowed to catch the ball without being penalised and place at his feet. Players over six foot excluded from the game a new influx of dwarf footballers hit the scene ticking some more boxes. Whatever are we doing to the game.
