Breach of contract if the FA haven’t authorised it?
£120 for a shirt – having a laugh!
March 22, 2024 at 8:24 am #282970looks like another fake outrage to me,nice to see Kier Faker pretending he cares for his right wing voters
March 22, 2024 at 8:47 am #282971Peter Shilton on R4 saying the new kit design is ‘woke’, without any questioning of what he actually means. Ridiculous.
March 22, 2024 at 8:53 am #282972“Going on sale on 21 March, the “authentic” version is priced at £124.99 for adults and £119.99 for children, while a “stadium” version costs £84.99 and £64.99 for children.”
Other than forty quid, what’s the difference?
March 22, 2024 at 9:06 am #282973Ridiculous move by Nike, people should vote with their feet and refuse to buy it, I’m guessing Nike would soon have a change of heart. As for right wing idiots well the majority of sensible people realise how they rally around English symbols to somehow justify they are more English, that’s why they are idiots.
March 22, 2024 at 9:24 am #282974Symbolism ,exactly that’s all it is.Its surely symbolically nice to reflect Britain as it is in our national “symbols”

Correct and lets not forget it is actually on the national football teams shirt not apparel designed for the Chelsea flower show. … not sure i could ever see other nations messing about with their countries flag.
I recall an Aussie fella here getting chucked in jail for standing on a Thai flag and more recently a Thai bank manager being demoted as the flag on the back was dirty and wind damaged..
Boycott Nike and this shirt ..easy
March 22, 2024 at 9:52 am #282978It’s not worth getting hot under the collar about. It’s sweet FA really…. Most of those venting about the colours of a tiny design on the back of a shirt collar aren’t really bothered either way, they’re actually upset about something else in their lives. It’s a scapegoat for the frustration felt about all sorts of stuff, particularly how the country and people have been stuffed, lied to and let down by their leaders in recent years.
And when the public get upset about something trivial, the politicos have to weigh in and make capital out of it. It’s a useful distraction from the big issues. No wonder the right is on it.
Nike’s own goal is the price, which is ridiculous and exploitative, particularly of parents with kids who just want to be patriotic and support the team. Patriotism is only available to the wealthy, apparently. That’s the real issue here.
March 22, 2024 at 10:00 am #282980I agree, it’s not worth getting hot under the collar about but worth pointing out the idiocy of the likes of Shilton using it as an opportunity to shoehorn ‘woke’ in to a BBC interview without any pushback from the interviewer. If anyone can explain how this redesign of an overpriced piece of polyester tat is ‘woke’, make my day. Glad I’m not the only one who thinks Shilton is talking out of his considerable behind…
Just heard Peter Shilton saying that the tiny St. George’s cross detail on the back of the new England shirts is woke because it’s not the traditional red, white (and blue????) … really Peter? Really??? pic.twitter.com/rsn1kYfcDU

March 22, 2024 at 10:07 am #282981For those grumbling, take a look at the 1982 England kit.
March 22, 2024 at 10:55 am #282982Choose an English manufacturer then!
Not some Yank multinational.
March 22, 2024 at 11:15 am #282985DM, Shilton usually does talk rubbish, sadly.
Was a great keeper, now wizard of the drivel.
Was singing the praises of Rees Mogg over Brexit a while back.
Today, fretting about about a bit of ‘woke’ embroidery on the back of a collar!March 22, 2024 at 11:39 am #282986For those grumbling, take a look at the 1982 England kit.
Or take a look at the cup winning shirt?
Absolutely disgraceful that this England team shirt has no cross of St George on it! How do they expect our boys to win anything if they don’t display what MillwallDave describes as ‘The sacred icon of the English nation and people.’ pic.twitter.com/JZKwFSNBKi

March 22, 2024 at 11:41 am #282987There ain’t half been some silly b’stards.
March 22, 2024 at 12:02 pm #282988Foreign manufacturer, they should either not include our national flag on the shirt at all but if they are going to include it, it should be the right one.
Incidentally, I wouldn’t buy one whatever it has on it.March 22, 2024 at 12:44 pm #282989Most ‘British’ kits are designed in the UK but manufactured in China, Vietnam or elsewhere. Too expensive here, see. Just imagine the price if it was made in Bradford or Brum, rather than Beijing!
As for a “woke” badge about which people are “furious” (Daily Wail), does it contain a hidden message about Pride or Trans or something? Maybe I missed it. It just looks a bit purple.
Why isn’t there as much outrage about people not having enough food to eat in Britain, nor able to afford a home?
March 22, 2024 at 12:49 pm #282990Or Brexit????
March 22, 2024 at 1:13 pm #282991it will turn people who buy them gay

March 22, 2024 at 2:04 pm #282993From what I’ve seen it’s just a small offering on the back of the neck? Would never make the news unless it was done to cover more govt failure elsewhere, non story really. Wouldn’t buy on price alone. To me nothing is more important for England than the three lions, representing England Normandy and Acquitaine.
March 22, 2024 at 4:50 pm #282995Apparently Nike designers have said it echoes the cuffs on the training tops worn by the 1966 team. Dead woke that innit. Bet le Tissier’s wetting his knickers about it all too.
March 22, 2024 at 5:50 pm #282997England away kit in Rugby Union has a black flag on the back with a Red Cross, never seemed to be an issue at the time.
