Sponsorship of the new signing announcements, early promotion of kit sponsorship for them, etc.

Bloody hell we offered a transfer fee for Murphy, I know before you ask it’s where you pay another club for a player.

    Just a question, nothing more.
How many of todays signings look like guaranteed starters?

Good question. Wondered that too. No idea but if it’s genuine competition for places and they have potential to flourish, I’m happy with that. Think the keeper and Southend striker might be starters if they can get them signed

Think I prefer it this way rather than a load of almost guaranteed starters coming straight in and usurping the lads who’ve done so well recently. Think the dressing room will be better for it.

Can’t understand your thinking on the goalie though Deerey.

I did say ‘might be’. Might also be a back up?

Few on the cods forum slagging our signings off already, think they are getting worried we might stay up. 😅

I thought I’d check what the bookies have made of the mass signings.

Not a great deal by the look of it.

They still see us as nailed on for relegation and aren’t offering a price.

It sends no message to the second year pros and academy Rene, they will get their chance when they are ready

Of course we are still nailed on to go down, the newbies haven’t kicked a ball for us yet. 🙄

Stating the obvious but still need to go on a massive winning streak and expect some of the bottom 6-8 to go on big losing streaks. Can’t see it but could scrape it. Be agonising if it’s down on goal difference.

I wonder if Lee Turnbull and Andy Dawson have had something to do with the lad from Hull City ?? UTWI

He talks about Andy in his interview and he gave the club the thumbs up, bound to really, Andy was well liked here.

Nothing on paper stands out as particularly exciting. But, it’s more competition for places which we desperately need.

Disappointed not to have a centre back in as despite a good few last games, Boyce/Taft have been poor.

Keeper and a striker are still a necessity

I’d say McDonagh would be a “nailed on” starter and perhaps Sembie-Ferris.

    After that it’s anyone’s guess.

Saw a Forest fan saying Fewster is Yates mk2. No pressure then!

Just looked at Rhys Murphy on Wiki, seems to score plenty but not when he plays for Northern clubs.

A number of Southend fans on Twitter wouldn’t be heartbroken if he left, to put it mildly

Recruit- some for now such as Fewster, McDonagh, Sembie-Ferris. The others to strengthen options by taking some pressure of the 1st yr pro’s. Mr Hilton then said another 2 due but a bit of work to do and 1 is an experienced keeper and they are vital.

When he says amazing he’s probably referring to it having a restaurant that serves meat.

Talked to a statistician last night.
To stay up we probably need 50 points. Possibly a few less.
    Draws will be the killer.
Win 9 – lose 8 would be perfectly fine. Win 8, draw 3 – we can only afford 6 defeats
With what is presumably a strengthened squad + recent form, he was prepared to suggest that our chances of survival might be one in three to an optimist.
