With the going on over the past few months, some rumours baseless some not I didn’t expect to be seeing the team play today, but we are and I’m as pleased that we are as are thousands of others.
I may be sceptical of our owner but certainly not so of our players.
That said, up the Iron and here’s to 3 points by 5pm today.

Let’s hope the pitch drainage at Tamworth is good enough not to get in the way of The Mighty Iron Machine and create a freak result.

Forget the performance, today was all about the result.

A great start – let’s build on it.

The sodden pitch was poor and I am sure it affected the performance but we were so lucky to be level at half time.

Second half we were marginally better particularly when Dean brought on Whitehall and Butterfield.

Felt a bit for Elliott because Wilson and Law were bullied out of it so he was ploughing a lone furrow up front.

Fair play to Tamworth what they lacked in quality they made up for with workrate and probably feel hard done by. They will win a lot more home games than they lose this season.

Always have had a soft spot for Beeston but he is not a sitting midfielder.

Great to win an ugly game though – not done that very often these last 5 years.

Shame the kidywinks spoiled the day somewhat with their behaviour. This could become a serious problem at NLN grounds not set up or used to dealing with big away followings with a reasonable percentage of dick heads.

Oh dear, absolutely crap performance no better than how we finished last season, goalie shouldn’t have been beaten at his near post and how many times did he kick the ball out of play he looked very nervous went off at halftime shaking his head, where was the defending to let the fatboy defender in on our goal bloody clueless should really have been 2 down if not 3 at halftime and very very lucky not to be booed off, slight improvement second half and I mean slight fans screaming at Dean all game to be more positive every man in the box for their corners embarrassing plenty would have been calling for his head tonight instead of singing Jimmy deans army, the win hides alot let’s hope it was a one off. Jimmy needs to find a place for Whitehouse from the start

Can’t believe number 19 is still playing. Clearly not lifted a finger pre season and looked to be towing a caravan all game.

Need to be ruthless against players like that and stick 2 up top and hit the channels.

    No mercy

By the sound of the commentary bringing Butterfield and Whitehall on made us better, and Butterfield scored the winner against Burton.

But the main thing today was that we won.

3 points is 3 points and HMS piss the league has begun her maiden voyage.

A few thoughts regarding today though. Elliot isn’t a lone striker and never will be. If Elliot’s not shoehorned in on the right, I think Whitehall needs to be starting.

I’d also be tempted put Pugh/Rance in Beestin’s position as I don’t think he’s a sitting midfielder. Only one game gone though so we’ll see how it goes.

3 points is 3 points though and to be fair while Tamworth had limited quality they would be a nightmare for more sides at this level. You could tell they’d be horrible to play against. The pitch was awful as well which wouldn’t have helped.

Russ Wilcox politely commented on him by saying he looked “less mobile than others” and should be targeted… very diplomatic as the guy was a proper lard arse who looked like a pie seller that had sneaked on the pitch.

After that performance im even more concerned about your HMS Voyage WGs .. 4 4 2 .. need 2 up front for sure.

A win is a win ..nasty conditions and dodgy plastic pitch …. Tamworth will win a lot of home fixtures for sure.

ref was absolute gash .. CRAZY NUMBER OF CAUTIONS FOR NOTHING … i was told he showed the programme seller a yellow card when she fell over .
