Is it just me that Can’t listen to it. sick of the boring lad jokes and disgusting innuendos, I don’t know anybody who finds this type of crap funny but no doubt scunny fan Facebook group is the target audience for this garbage. this week they were talking about bigger boys bumming the host in the prison showers … well that was it for me . Never again, Completely embarrassed to be associated with such potty mouth vile “humour”. Where is the Iron bru podcast gone as that was good listen for us discerning listeners?

May 3, 2023 at 8:14 pm #261560As an outsider I would not be that harsh , I gave one a listen but it was not for me as I have become a regular of the one the lads on here do , and always enjoyed the interviews which are good as a neutral covering various old school players etc and of course the Swann ones ; i hope they will be back soon .
With the other one you have to give the guys a chance though , they are probably new to it and are doing it in their own time so fair play to them and I am sure many of your fans will enjoy it .

May 3, 2023 at 9:56 pm #261567I agree with Iron insider, can’t be bothered to listen to any more podcasts. I find them particularly boring too, they make it all about themselves and not the football or our Club. The jokes cracked I don’t find funny, just boring. It’s like four blokes on a pub night out. No professionalism whatsoever.
May 3, 2023 at 10:12 pm #261568I absolutely prefer iron bru but if we are truthful the pods haven’t been regular!! Which is annoying!!!!
I like the fact the new pod is filmed, just my opinion.
I don’t like their laddish approach, ‘doing bits’ etc etc… these men are not in their 20’s but they seem to be trying desperately to be ‘on trend’.
They seem to know very little about football… the pod when we went down they constantly referred to NLN teams as builders and brick layers etc…
As if none of the lads at that level are any good… what an absolute disgrace!!
Plenty of players at the level are better than what we’ve had for years and years!
Like I said I prefer Bru but the Bru podcast is available every now and again so I’m losing interest in them all.3 users thanked author for this post.
May 3, 2023 at 10:20 pm #261569Good on them for giving it a go, more iron content the better. Not particularly a fan of the non-Iron talk but each to their own and them seem to have plenty tuning in.
Do miss the regular instalments of Iron Bru though.

May 3, 2023 at 10:26 pm #261570I’ve seen one of their podcasts and it’s all very tongue in cheek with a large dose of lad banter, each to their own. I can’t see the older iron fans taking to it that well to be fair for a certain demographic it will be enjoyed.
I found a lot of what they said was nothingness and actually very little about actual football. Completely different approach to the bru version. As lincsirons said above it’s a more relaxed approach and as is very much like 4 blokes being down at the pub.
They both have their place.
Only one I really watch is Jon Parkin’s under the cosh podcast. Some of The stories on there are absolute belters. Non iron related but is certainly interesting to say the least.

May 3, 2023 at 11:02 pm #261571I haven’t really heard much of the Iron Hour. I gave the one with Hilton a spin and have since skipped through a couple of the others, but wouldn’t class myself as a regular listener. Whilst they are definitely approaching it differently, they are giving it a good go and the production value has increased massively since the first episode. We too had teething issues when we started out, so it was good to see they managed to overcome those pretty quickly.
It seems to have been fairly well received and they deserve a lot of credit for sticking their heads above the parapet. You are certainly there to be shot at, as I well know. We tried our best with Swann, but ultimately that was never enough for many which is why we decided not to approach DH for an interview. I am sure, having seen some of the questions that were sent in for their interview with DH, that they may now appreciate how difficult a job we had.
It has been a real struggle to find the motivation to record a weekly IB podcast with the club in such turmoil. That said, listener numbers are still very good and have not been affected by the Iron Hour, so we are definitely going to continue until the day that changes.
We are recording a new episode this week and will then do a number of summer specials including the KVV episode which is on the way.
I’ve also been in touch with somebody else today to confirm another episode that we are doing next week. We will probably keep that one under wraps until we have recorded it and it will be shorter than usual, but the guest should prove excellent value!

May 4, 2023 at 12:41 am #261573Bru podcast has had some decent people on this season, who go Scunny week in week out. Compared to the other one.

Good to hear! Hope it’s Beags or Torps
May 4, 2023 at 8:19 am #261578Not a fan of Iron Hour – too much lad bantz and bonhomie for my likings but there’s clearly a big market for that type of thing so fair play to them. I think it’s appeal relies on warming to the presenters. Without that it feels a bit like overhearing some random blokes chatting about the Iron in the Priory. The Bru podcast offers more analysis and insight of on and off field matters, and whether you agree with the views offered or not (and I don’t always), it plays out professionally with respectful exchanges rather than a competition with people talking over each other. I thought the last episode discussing the plans to move the training / day to days ops and closing the academy was very important and spoke to a lot of supporters with big concerns about it as it seemed there was a large contingent happy for it all to go through. Looking forward to more frequent episodes and the special guests coming up.
May 4, 2023 at 8:39 am #261579The Iron Hour is 15 minutes Iron & 45 minutes of padding, which isn’t a great ratio. And the laddish “bantz” is pretty tedious too. The last one I heard ended with 10 minutes of laughing about something that wasn’t even that funny. Glad they’re having fun, and I think they’ve got a couple of people on there who could be a lot better, but it’s not for me at the moment.

For background purposes I have listened to a number of episodes from both the Iron Bru and Iron Army podcasts and even if you had requested an interview with Hilton I doubt one would have been forthcoming. The quality of the two podcasts are miles apart and some prefer to pick their battles wisely!
I hope you have Kieran Maguire or David Conn lined up.
May 4, 2023 at 11:02 am #261592Fingers crossed it’s Ilkeston Town uber fan, Paul Skillington.
