From the OWS:_
“Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the appointment of Will Swann as Chief Scout.”
Anybody know anything about him? Does he have any connection to the Club? The name sounds vaguely familiar!
December 1, 2020 at 1:23 pm #198253I found this.
https://fmtransferupdate.com/staff/29187952-will-swann
36yr old and is getting paid pittance. I couldn’t find anything else out about him. I tried looking on omnisports website under the client list and couldn’t find out anything on there.
Bit of a mystery.
December 1, 2020 at 1:30 pm #198256Well, WG, I did a bit of research and discovered that Will Swann is a 23-year-old who Neil Cox has apparently worked with for 7 years.

December 1, 2020 at 1:34 pm #198257December 1, 2020 at 2:10 pm #198259“Will’s knowledge in the industry, including previously working in the scouting department at the Iron until he departed in July 2018, gives him a range of skills and contacts that will compliment the path the football club are now on”
Aye because, let’s face it, you know all there is to know about football at 23!
December 1, 2020 at 2:28 pm #198260Ridiculous, 23 yr old with no experience of playing the game, gets employed by daddy as a chief scout of a professional football club. The club’s gone….
The closest thing I can think of to this is George Weah’s nephew being signed by Sounness for Southampton

Topics: 4I think nephew should be in quotation marks, IA. Ali Dia was not Weah’s relative.
December 1, 2020 at 2:46 pm #198264At least we can stop moaning about the chairman having too much influence on player recruitment.
Hang on a minute, what did you say his name was?
We can but hope he does what his mother tells him.
December 1, 2020 at 2:50 pm #198266Is he related to Peter, or is it a mere coincidence he has the same surname ?
December 1, 2020 at 3:12 pm #198274If he’s part of ernest prawns gang he will probably be ordered to be a Mute Swann.

Topics: 4Yes, he’s Peter’s son:
Spoke to Neil Cox about appointment of @SUFCOfficial chairman’s son, Will Swann, as chief scout.
NC says he’s the one who pushed for it as he knew of (& worked with) Will prior to joining the #Iron & that Peter was initially resistant to it because of how it would look to some.

December 1, 2020 at 4:03 pm #198280He’s as bad as Trump with his nepotism, just makes me sick.😩
December 1, 2020 at 4:17 pm #198283Fun fact. He actually played a friendly or two for the youth team way back when Swann first joined the club. Also appears on the seasonal team photo. Karl Power stylee.
December 1, 2020 at 5:40 pm #198286At least he’s not an ex scunny player, but nepotism is wrong just like our inbreeding of managers.
December 1, 2020 at 6:01 pm #198289Unbelievable!
I bet he had to fight off stiff competion to land that job.
How many other people were interviewed?
We become more of a laughing stock every day.December 1, 2020 at 6:49 pm #198294Absolutely ridiculous…we certainly are a joke of a club right now!
December 1, 2020 at 7:32 pm #198295Yes, he’s Peter’s son:

How it would look like to some? ‘Some’ won’t include Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Andrea Bocelli!
December 1, 2020 at 9:39 pm #198317I spent some time with young Swann about 3 years ago. He told me that he “had an eye for a player”. I asked him to let me have some names for the future. He gave me 5, none whom have ever made the grade (nor are likely to).
Sadly, I don’t believe that he can do the job required. He thinks he can, but I’ll even bet his father doesn’t believe it either.
December 1, 2020 at 10:23 pm #198324Either Cox deserves an oscar or he is genuinely pleased about Will’s appointment.
December 1, 2020 at 10:36 pm #198327Or he doesn’t want his P45 for Christmas!
December 2, 2020 at 12:48 am #198335Either Cox deserves an oscar or he is genuinely pleased about Will’s appointment.
I’ll go for the oscar option…and the fact he doesn’t want to get himself sacked.
So, he get’s rid of Turnbull and then ends up signing his son ?
Only st Scunthorpe United eh ?
December 2, 2020 at 8:39 am #198338Are there any more Swann children we can expect to see at some point in the future?
December 2, 2020 at 7:47 pm #198373Quotes from the manager on the new scout:-
“He’s going to be helping me pick the first team players, then he’s going to be helping Russ (Wilcox) with the under-23s and helping Tony Daws in restructuring everything at the football club.”
“ He knows characters, he’s been around this industry for a long, long time”
Incredible and he’s only 23!! Let’s hope those young whippersnappers Wilcox and Daws feel the same.
December 3, 2020 at 9:13 pm #198433Are there any more Swann children we can expect to see at some point in the future?
That is simply not funny !!

So The Messiah has arrived !

We don’t want characters, we want footballers.
The way he talks sounds like we’re signing Roy Race and Billy the Fish in January
December 4, 2020 at 9:35 am #198446I spent some time with young Swann about 3 years ago. He told me that he “had an eye for a player”. I asked him to let me have some names for the future. He gave me 5, none whom have ever made the grade (nor are likely to).
Let’s have a guess, were 4 of those 5 names Dom Vose, Johnny Margetts, Clayton Lewis and Andy Dales?
December 4, 2020 at 9:53 am #198447El-Mhanni was the other one Cass
December 4, 2020 at 10:32 am #198449How could I forget!!
