Nothing against Neil but he must see his role as redundant. A mouthpiece without a mouth.

If this was GTFC.
Would he be a codpiece?
😂November 28, 2022 at 10:27 am #249355The silence from our Fans Director is beyond a joke !
It’s about time all the Fans Groups who put him there started having a word.
If he has not got the skills required to communicate with the Fans he represents it’s about time they put someone in that position who can.
What’s the point of having a Fans Director ?
Why does nt he organise a question and answer session for example ?November 28, 2022 at 10:32 am #249356Wright has had some appalling abuse, and that is condemnable, and has problems at home which should generate sympathy. However, if he is unable to do his role at the moment because of these things, a temporary fan director or representative should be there in his stead.
November 28, 2022 at 11:51 am #249359We have a fan director get over it, not appointed by Swanny either, the only way Neil will go will be if he resigns or Swanny gets rid. It’s not up to the groups who elected him to swap and change whenever it’s up to the board.
November 28, 2022 at 12:01 pm #249360Why does nt he organise a question and answer session for example ?
My guess is that he would be unable to answer any of the questions that we really want answered.
November 28, 2022 at 1:11 pm #249362Let’s face it. There is only 1 question we all want the answer to.
Until then the club remains in the twilight zone.
Neil and Lee cannot answer that question.

November 28, 2022 at 4:38 pm #249378The witch hunt for Wright and Turnbull doesn’t sit right, Keyboard warriors lashing out because there’s no one else to have a go at.
I agree that Wright should be more open with the supporters but the role really is redundant with the current regime so perhaps he should look at stepping down.

Who is left on the Board?
How often do the meetings take place these days
What’s to discuss?November 28, 2022 at 7:50 pm #249424What step down and don’t have a fan director at all? That’s a clever suggestion, when supporters groups all over encourage fan directors. Good bad or indifferent (and I am in the indifferent camp) we need a fan director while we have chance to have one.

November 29, 2022 at 12:06 am #249441Nominations for the fan director are put forward by the various Supporters groups. It is a two year position and the main club board have no say on the person elected.
How they treat the incumbent of course remains to be seen now and in the future.
It strikes me that Mr Wright is being treated more respectfully at the moment by the club than the fans.
There are other fan positions, which people have been appointed into which seemingly do not attract the same level of criticism.
They too are quiet, so this looks like an agenda against Mr Wright. It is doubtless that AN-Other in the FED role could say or do much more.

What’s to discuss?Just saw Jerry M mention on the Happy Clapper page Neil was the only person to stand for Fans Director.
So who is left running the club?
Lee Turnbull, Glyn Sparks, Neil Wright?
January 3, 2023 at 1:17 pm #251811Neil Wright deserves praise then when nobody else wanted the job.
January 4, 2023 at 10:31 am #251887We have a Fans Director who does not communicate with the Fans he represents.
He seems to be accountable to no one !
The Supporters Organisations who put him in this position never comment either about his actions or lack of.
He attends Board Meetings when Mr Swann decides to have one along with Mr Turnbull an employee of the Club but the Fans never get any feedback and when he’s asked all he ever quotes is the non disclosure act.
So what have the Fans gained from having him in position ?
If you read the other Fans Sites a great majority have no confidence in him and openly criticise his lack of communication.2 users thanked author for this post.
January 4, 2023 at 10:45 am #251888The “Fans Director” contributes as mush as our broken scoreboard. I cannot recall the last time he made a meaningful announcement, or even acknowledged the fans legitimate concerns. I can only assume that the club have instructed him to say nothing, and if that is indeed the case, he should resign as they are preventing him doing what he was elected to do!

January 4, 2023 at 11:06 am #251891I agree and think he should make a statement and then resign.
It would make a big statement to the Fans and the Club.
What would fans lose by him doing this ?2 users thanked author for this post.
January 4, 2023 at 11:20 am #251895Hell be gone today I’d bet It just looks a mess for him ,bad time for that job

Daz, I agree that the guy has had no impact on anything. However, whilst you talk about the fans “legitimate concerns”, how many of them have actually contacted him to make them known and/or ask his advice. Surely it is a two way relationship?
January 4, 2023 at 2:06 pm #251913Surely it’s in his brief to keep fans in the loop about the current situation at GP, if he doesn’t realise fans are concerned by the lack of information then he shouldn’t be doing the job. If he is unable to let fans know certain details because of an NDA then all he has to do is post an explanation and then at least fans will be aware. Other fans posting clips from other Twitter feeds and SST letting us know the snippets he receives are our only sources, the actual appointed fans director says nothing. It’s all very strange and is really not acceptable, however someone stated awhile back that his wife hadn’t been well and he was under pressure from that and if that is still the case then we should extend our support to him.

January 4, 2023 at 2:14 pm #251916Is it his brief?
January 4, 2023 at 6:30 pm #251940You got your pound of flesh guys, now we don’t have a director.
January 4, 2023 at 6:37 pm #251942I totally respect Neil for making this decision and I personally think he should have done it weeks ago and I have previously told him this.
I think it makes a loud statement about the Club.
As for not having a Fans Director we never really have had one in reality.1 user thanked author for this post.

January 4, 2023 at 7:04 pm #251949He spoke up in board meetings about contract stewards and that helped get rid of the hired thugs, but hey he didn’t make statements about things he couldn’t talk about so screw him

January 4, 2023 at 7:09 pm #251950If true that’s a shame, hope we aren’t allowed to get another one.

January 4, 2023 at 7:53 pm #251956All directors in any company owe there duties first and foremost to the company they are directors for, not to a body that elected to them, any fan director is on sticky ground from the fans the moment they agree to the post,
January 4, 2023 at 9:03 pm #251959Iron trust confirm Neil’s resignation, you think it makes a loud statement of the club ironlion you bet a lot of their fans are arseholes about right don’t you think? Many on here should hang their heads in shame.
January 4, 2023 at 9:43 pm #251961Get over yourselves. I know it wasn’t Neil’s fault as his hands “and lips were tied” but he wasn’t doing the job he was elected for so he’s resigned. I agree with his decision.
There’s no point in even having one while Swann is here. Instead of slagging people off who have given Mr Wright a hard time you should condemn Swann for putting him in that position.
The club hung him out to dry. I’m not surprised people are frustrated with the current state of the club, it’s just unfortunate for Neil that he was put directly into the firing line with his mouth taped up via NDA’s.
Awaywego and fans 64 should be airing their disappointed at Swann and Co for doing the dirty on him. They’re the real one’s to blame.
