Neil’s words after the Forest friendly!

    I quote
“Keeping a clean sheet too is good for not only the goalkeeper but the back four as well. Clean sheets are about the whole team and the front two have to work hard to start defending from the front, and that’s what they did”

Lets remember, last season a mistake at the front lead to an attack whereby the play missed out our midfield and our centre halves and left our keeper/s exposed.

Good work Neil, plenty of positives yesterday, an excellent goal from McAtee, although some would say the keeper should have saved it.
The team selection was something else, it would have challenged the most astute observer to set up a team to defend in opposition.

You also have to remember if you spend most of the game at the other end of the pitch instead of crammed inside your own penalty area there is less chance you will concede.

Regarding the goal it was good work and passing between Vincent and Jarvis which set up McAtee for the goal, and it was good to see Rory Watson keep a clean sheet for the time he was on the pitch.

You are coming round to my way of thinking Mick. Clearly if you spend most of the time in the attacking 3rd there is less chance of conceding.
Aren’t most goals achieved by good passages of play, however, McAtee took it well when many strikers (we know who they are) would have skied it over the stand. In addition if that goal was against us you would have blamed Watson or Kelsey for one of their weaknesses.

Please re-read Cox quote re clean sheets!

I can’t comment on Kelsey because I have never seen him play, and I don’t think I would have blamed Rory either, cross shots are the ones that easily beat Rory.
