Played 4-4-2 today with some players playing out of position, but says that is his formation and wants to play entertaining attacking football all season with defending to the minimum, also said assistant manager close and possibly a new player in early next week and possibly another later in the week.
And may be playing Hull u23s next week as well.August 15, 2020 at 6:18 pm #1933822 more in is good to hear. As is 442 and attacking football obviously.
We were told 4 or 5 and we’ve had that so another 2 is a bonus.
Experienced keeper and Cm along with good assistant (presumably Lillis) and I’ll be very happy with pre season.
August 15, 2020 at 7:05 pm #193383Would imagine the “5 in” quote was relating to first team players. Can’t see Jarvis and Mooney being brought in as first teamers and will be in the U23’s, so another 2 potential signings is welcome news. We’re in desperate need of League experience so hopefully they’ll have some of that!
August 15, 2020 at 8:20 pm #193385Could be a “net” 5 in though, so 8 in and 3 out is a possibility. Do we have 3 we can shift though? (Three that we can do without that is.) Colclough? Olomola? Dales?
August 15, 2020 at 8:23 pm #193388Got to think Colclough will be looking to move if possible. And I’m sure we wouldn’t turn down the chance to get his wages off the books.
Who’s going to want him though? And be able to afford his wages?
Maybe one of Hornshaw and Pugh out on loan if we get a Cm in.
Same with Kelsey/Collins if we get a keeper.
August 15, 2020 at 8:39 pm #193390He said today he didn’t want anyone out at the moment until he has had the chance to look at everybody.
August 15, 2020 at 8:47 pm #193391Big left toe, I’d keep an eye on Jarvis. I suspect he may make more of an impact than what you’re suggesting. A luton fan on twitter said that during his time there, even in his limited game time that he thought he looked a really capable player.
It was only down to Hylton , Lee and others being in such good form that he didn’t get more game time…he scored a few in the cups and according to that fan, he thinks he’ll easily score at this level given game time.
I know youtube clips are not exactly reliable but he looks a pretty tidy player….we needed a targetman as well, he’s different to all the others we’ve got.
In regards to players going out. I think Colclough will go. Dales may stay due to probably not being on a hefty contract and he’s fairly versatile.
Olomola’s an interesting one though…will this season be his season?.
August 15, 2020 at 8:59 pm #193392Jarvis tweaked his hamstring in training and it was a bit tight so wasn’t risked today but is expected to train on Monday.
August 15, 2020 at 9:28 pm #193393Any news on Clarke, Oniaraise “butchered the spelling” and McGahey…mick ?
August 15, 2020 at 9:33 pm #193395Probably injured, I only heard him mention Jarvis, probably knocks.
August 16, 2020 at 1:23 am #193401WG, I wouldn’t look too much into what a Luton fan thinks of Jarvis. Can you really seeing him scoring many in League Two considering he played for Sutton United in the National League last season scoring 3 in 25…was then deemed not good enough and shipped out on loan to Hemel Hempstead scoring 1 in 6 in the National League South Division!? Would love to be proved wrong but he hardly seems like a goalscorer!
August 16, 2020 at 8:39 am #193402I would say more a target man like Torps, if they take pressure off the other forwards so they score and win headers in the opposition box he could be useful especially from the bench.
August 16, 2020 at 10:50 am #193406John Gayle never scored many but was an effective target man. If Jarvis does the work and takes the bumps for kev we could have a good partnership.
August 16, 2020 at 11:33 am #193407But is he built like John Gayle?
August 16, 2020 at 12:10 pm #193408Don’t know weather it is the same Luton fan, that WG knows, there can’t be that many in scunny, but when I spoke to my Luton fan mate,he really rates Jarvis, says not really given s chance, big awkward, and 2 good feet, just saying.

Don’t know.
Hopefully he’ll use his elbows a bit less. Not sure John would last long nowadays.

I was told something similar to what you have been told. Biglefttoe is going primarily on his stats, which i admit hardly set the world alight but he’s supposed to have good ability.
I know Luton Fans thought he was a good enough player but because they had the options they had at the time, he just didn’t get enough chances.
Fingers crossed he fits in the squad/team and is hungry for another chance in the football league. He’s supposed to be a mobile targetman who’s technically pretty good…from what I was told he’s got the ability to play this level and has some quality but according to the Luton fan I was talking to just needs a fair chance to prove his worth and bed himself down.
I wouldn’t be automatically have him pencilled in as an u23 player from the off. If has the ability he’s supposed to have and feels settled here with games under his belt, you just never know…may be a dark horse.
As said above though, even if he scores say 7-10 goals and creates space for Van Veen, I’d be happy with that.
August 17, 2020 at 11:54 am #193431Could be tricky this. If KVV plays off a target man then what do you do with McAtee?
August 17, 2020 at 2:34 pm #193445The Luton fan told me something similar Cass,he said just didn t get the chance, holds the ball up well and brings others into the game
