A bit of a camel ride for their boys on Tuesday. A round trip of 300 miles and approximately 7 hours total travelling.
Since being thrashed 7-1 by Buxton, their games have being remarkably tight. 7 draws since that drubbing. Only once have they lost by more than one goal (0-2) since the Buxton binge.
You can imagine them coming, parking the bus and targeting a point.Iron 2-1 Marketmen
January 26, 2025 at 6:53 pm #298007Quick turnaround from Saturday for an amateur side plus long travel against a professional full time side on a roll at home, 4-0 to the Iron, we need to put these to the sword and I don’t care how many subs Butler makes in the process.
January 26, 2025 at 9:32 pm #298014So part time amateurs on 2nd consecutive long drive away game and backs to the wall – Warning Bells ringing.
Set up 433 or 442 and make subs only when forced because they will fight to the end. Mr Butler needs to be careful and not got clever.
January 27, 2025 at 12:47 am #298021To be fair to Butler the formation he’s changed too is a million times better. Bit dodgy at the back, but much better going forward. I’d leave Boyce out for Evans.
January 27, 2025 at 3:36 am #298022We need last year’s Will Evans in the side.
January 27, 2025 at 12:51 pm #298026If Butler uses the phrase,”we’ve got to be patient” in the pre-match build up,the alarm bells will ring.
January 27, 2025 at 1:34 pm #298028Was a tight game at their place back in August, well organised outfit punching above their weight.
2-0 iron
January 27, 2025 at 1:50 pm #298029Comfortable win. 3-0. Keep the momentum going.

True. Not been all that great this season. Boyce has hit the buffers of late though.

[0-0 HT]
Att: 424With ten minutes to go, Needham trailed 2-0.
They equalised in the 90th minute.
Reggie Lambe grabbed the winner (good strike) for the market men in the 92nd minute.January 27, 2025 at 3:09 pm #298034Anyone fancy 3-2 for the 3-2 hat-trick? 28/1 for anyone brave / daft enough.
I’m daft enough, so might have £3.45 on it – returns £100.05January 27, 2025 at 5:36 pm #2980373-0 is the bet to be on Rene, be quids in already if you’d backed it every week..

I’ve just looked at our score distribution (league only).
0-0 is the mode, with 5 occurrences.
3-0 is 2nd, happening 4 times.
1-0, 2-0 & 2-3 all tie on three.
3-2 or 2-2 has occurred 5 times.
It seems strange that the most common scoreline of the highest scoring team in the league is 0-0.

The original should have said:
“3-2 or 2-3 has occurred 5 times”
January 28, 2025 at 12:52 pm #298072We just need to be bright & quick & play with an intensity on the front foot. If we cut the silly mistakes out, then it should all go to plan.
We need an atmosphere like last Saturday’s.
Crank it up boys!January 28, 2025 at 1:17 pm #298074Expect the crowd to be down from Saturday, three home games in a week, cold January night plus Needham bringing one man and his dog to watch. Don’t think their fans will be challenging the DRE when it comes to atmosphere making.

January 28, 2025 at 1:35 pm #298076So long as him or the dog know the words to “Championship and you fecked it up” we’ll be alright.
January 28, 2025 at 4:11 pm #298078Brackley and Kiddy game off.
Chester away.A resounding win is what’s needed tonight.
4-1 as we are never far away from a defensive slip-up atm unfortunately.3456
Hopefully Ryan the drum is there to whip up and keep the hardy souls like Saturday.January 28, 2025 at 10:27 pm #298086Shite game, shite performance but did more than enough to see them off, never got going all game.
Got to say well done Butler 9 points from 9 cant do any better than that, handled the subs better as well.
Ps missed Clunan big time.

January 29, 2025 at 1:15 am #298088Players looked tired and need the rest coming up. Not a great performance, but 3 points is 3 points.

Day off today, sleep eat, sleep eat, recover.
Light easy half days Thursday & Fri.
Go again Saturday.January 29, 2025 at 6:08 am #298109Good result but a hard watch after the first 10 minutes.
How much is the pitch playing a part for the players looking a bit ‘leggy’. It is an absolute disgrace and must be affecting the players. Some things you can’t go cheap on and the pitch is one of them.
At least they now have a period of rest now with no game in the immediate future.

January 29, 2025 at 7:44 am #298112I have to agree about the state of the pitch, IA.
The trouble was, however, that in the better spells from NM, their passing was often crisp and true.
Ours was so very often pedestrian and inaccurate.
Anyone know if there are accessible stats out there making a comparison between our % of losing the ball to theirs?January 29, 2025 at 7:56 am #298114We seem to be able to ‘play’ for about 20 minutes in total per match. The rest is really difficult to watch. But credit to Butler and the team – 9 points is more than I thought we’d get from these three home games on the bounce.

January 29, 2025 at 9:16 am #298119For the first twenty minutes it was our best showing of all three games then the last 70 minutes were the poorest. Thought young Rose had his poorest game yet in an Iron shirt but he wasn’t alone in looking distinctly average on the night. Highlights were two cracking goals from Scales and Roberts but really after 9 points out of 9, 8 goals scored and 4 conceded we shouldn’t complain, I think the players and the fans all need a rest after the last 8 days.

January 29, 2025 at 9:50 am #298125Rose did struggle last night, I’d give him the benefit of the doubt though and say that it was mostly down to the fact that he’s a young kid trying a bit to hard to impress in his first taste of first team football.
Most of his errors came from him trying to do a bit too much going forward when a simpler option would’ve been better, he’s still learning and better decision making is something that has to come with experience.I also thought we missed Clunan last night, the knock on effect being that we also missed Beestin’s influence further up the pitch.
