Can’t see Dean being in charge next season.

DM , IMO Anything other than promotion and JD is toast … if the Iron do go up i would bet my favorite perfectly formed right testicle (much nicer than the left) the board will keep him on as manager all be it on a well written contract favoring the club if he needs removing.

Promotion (or not) is surely the key. Achieve that and it’s inconceivable that Dean could be sacked, who would come to a club that sacks a promotion winning manager? Only the terminally thick or unemployable. IFA has the right idea about any new contract for Jimmy, 6 month maximum or a rolling monthly if we can get away with it.

Dean wouldn’t be sacked, his contract wouldn’t be renewed. A monthly rolling or 6 month contract is probably the least effective route.

It’s funny, in Italian football this sort of thing is really common: you hire a manager to do a job, they do it, the club then decides whether to keep them on to do the next job or to find someone better suited. Managers understand that’s how the system works. Obviously it would be very odd to do that in British football, I just find it interesting how even things that seem “obvious” to us can vary around the world.

Dean seemingly had a lot of say in recruitment of the present squad. As a recruiter, he hasn’t looked too bad at all.

But I find SNOT’s assertion that the current manager will not be responsible for summer recruitment rather puzzling.

Not only that snot says the person who is we would be impressed by, I think we can all agree there’s certainly no one at the club who would fall into that criteria, so that leaves a new manager doing the recruiting from the sidelines even there I can’t think of anyone who would impress me, certainly not Crosby who’s being touted often enough.

Hang on a minute, I have some questions to ask here!

Even if we ignore the complete shambles which was the end of last season, when so many signings made under Dean barely played or didn’t impress, the signings made since the embargo was lifted this year have hardly impressed. Clarke’s barely played, McAlinden’s been here & there, Corbett is a mystery, though not as much as the guy from Farsley who’s disappeared off the website, and then there’s this Leesley chap too. Not the greatest track record?

Sure, under Dean a good squad was assembled last summer, but surely that’s easy if you’re paying well over the odds for players?

In fairness, I don’t know how much input Dean has had into signings throughout his tenure, but I couldn’t say that the record has been a positive one in those 15-16 months.

Agreed Ferrite. The scattergun approach is back.

The worrying thing is, these Dominic vose esque signings are being authorised.

If we do go up this season then the job next term will be a much harder one.

    Whoever is in charge.

I have no qualms about JD being manager next year if promotion is achieved .. BUT .. the jury must be still out has to he would get on in the NL .. hence forth as any contract offered for next season by the board must be really well thought out…based on the employment laws , i say that as i may be an overweight beer loving Scunny fan from afar but i do know how employment law and termination clauses within the law here which are roughly based on UK law.

    Suffice to say
    playoff loss JD is toast
Promotion will see JD as our manager next season 99% as Cass says .. then anything could happen depending on the budget and who stays or jumps HMS SUFC

Wow. That’s strong. If we get promotion then I think he’ll be given more time. It would be a big call to say, in that scenario, this is the worst time to be an Iron fan in 30 years! Are you sure?

Unless I emigrate I am stuck with
